Read the orders people. It's not like it's hand written. Although I did get my money back on an online order I had to drive all the way back to the store to get the right one, I've never had my order correct. Oh and what's the point in having an order for here when I have to get up and get it myself when you have me a table number?? Took 20 minutes just for a croissant power sandwich. It was sitting pretty on the counter when I walked up to the counter. And table number is still on my table. Managers...please Train and guide your employees. I've been a client of Panera since they opened the previous place in Otay Ranch Town Center. Loved the old place, the product, the service and just the overall ambiance. Always a lot of people but It felt good. Was there about twice a week. I'm a neighbor. They moved to a more efficient new building next to Jack in The Box not too long ago. A big plus is the new drive thru for those that use it. Unfortunately inside it feels cramped by the size of the seating and how it was packed in. The waiting in line has gotten longer, the food seems prepared sloppily, and definitely much smaller portions and higher prices tied to longer waits to get the food at your table. Something that makes things worse is the propensity for singles or groups to come in, take up the larger tables, order a drink and nurse it for 3 hours while they do homework or discuss their agenda.... A regular group of about 5 comes in regularly and discusses the Bible for a couple of hours and only 1 person or 2 buy one drink each while families come in and walk out because there is no available seating inside. Panera misjudged the seating capacity big time. They need better training for the people taking orders and too many things run out too early. This place is not the one it was. I don't come here like I used to before which is unfortunate but it reflects the new Panera. read more

The last 5 times I have ordered food to be delivered from this location they always miss something from my order. I call and they give me a credit for my next order, but it has to be redeemed in person which is inconvenient. The last time I went in the store to redeem my credits I gave the manager a heads up that this happens frequently as evident by all my credits. He didn't apologize and acted like it wasn't a big deal and just asked me if I redeem my credits. I guess I kept ordering from here hoping it would get better, but it hasn't. Cashier gave the total it did not seem right, given track record, I confirmed 3 times that she heard and understood me say 2 chicken noodle soup bowls, and one sourdough bowl. I'm not sure why they got a new building, if they can't even do a simple task like keep the tables, chairs and floors clean. It's disappointing that I always have to find someone to clean my table before I feel comfortable eating there. While Panera Bread is a healthier choice, I'm thinking about not giving them my business anymore, because having a clean restaurant, great food and good customer service is something I need in order to keep coming back. I order a turkey cafe sandwhich on country wheat with an apple, yeah an apple. With an impending trip to Cancun, I'm trying to get in peak physical beach-condition..think Hank Azaria on Along Came Polly. The turkey they use is so F'ing tasty and they have bottles of Tapatio to spice things up a bit. Perfect, cause that's exactly how I do it at home. The place itself is really spacious and has plenty of seating for small to large groups. The bagels are very good as well and the artisan breads they have look carb-tastic! The best chain restaurant for sandwiches at the moment, with more than 50 stores. That's a wierd way to start a review, but it really does show what this place is. Consistently excellent food, just make sure you understand what is going into your sandwich/soup/salad, and you will be fine. The sandwiches are all excellent, acros the board, there is not a weak offering here. I have one issue with this place, and it may be nothing...but when daphne's was good, they raised their prices similarly to panera, with a similar amount of stores, and then all the sudden they sucked. I'm worried that panera will suffer the same fate. Probably won't happen due to the range of food offerings, and the public corporation status, but let's hope they maintain the happiness. Recommend the fuji apple chicken salad, the regular "cafe" turkey sandwich, and the artichoke chicken panini (if you can handle hot tomatoes). The menu is the right size, the food is great, the service is fast, and everything is fresh. The pricing is a bit higher than most places you can get food in less than 10 mins...but, it's worth it. read more

It's Panera. They have bread. Good bread. I love to stand by the "sample" kiosk and horde the bottle of olive oil and basket of bread. I'm not one of those people that has a staple meal or beverage. I constantly change it up. Panera has a lot of variety and this is wonderful! Sometimes I'll get a panini, or a cup of broccoli and cheddar, or an asiago bagel with sun-dried tomato cream cheese. They make pretty smooth mochas and pumpkin lattes (seasonal) too. If I had to choose a favorite meal? Hands down, the mediterranean veggie sammich. That thing is packed with lettuce, tomato, onion, FETA, peppers, cucumbers, and cilantro hummus on tomato basil bread. Combine that with their passion fruit infused iced green tea. This meal fills up my lil' tank perfectly without leaving me in a food coma. The staff is always really kind here. They have no issues with dropping food off at your table, or picking up empty dishes. There is consistency. And the location is a nice, clean, pretty mall. Bread. Nom nom nom. read more

Angela my server today was being a b*tch. Many of the workers seemed hating to be there. Angela was looking for shortcuts by putting my toppings of my croissant next to the plate, instead of usually slicing it open and building it. Not very generous as well with the toppings. Even after I requested an extra slice of tomato, She gave me an attitude by commenting it's going to be an additional charge. I came in to get my free pastry which was not available due to the error in their system. Is that my problem, or their problem? She was more acting like it was mine, but I was making sure to get my pastry. Finally, after a long avoidance by helping other customers, she came over and throwed a cherry glazed pastry in a paper bag instead of a usual pastry box. I'm not sure what's happening with Panera Bread at this location. It's been one of my wife's favorite places to eat breakfast and drink coffee in the morning for 10 years. We've noticed a gradual decline in service quality for some time now and today marks the day we stop going here. We have noticed unusual number of turnovers with managers and employees and they seem to care less and less. The company found success in the beginning with good service, but it's a shame what it's turned into. Maybe the founders cashed out and don't care anymore, but the place is just sad now. I stopped by this morning with my family and used the kiosk to order a $50 coffee and breakfast. I then asked if I can get the coffee at the front desk. The girl who was sweeping the floor looks up and tells me that because I ordered at the kiosk, I have to wait 10 minutes for my coffee along with the food to come out at the pick up counter. Really? I asked if that was a new policy and she responded they've always had that policy. So I asked to speak to the manager right away. A young girl named Priscilla came out but I did not recognize her. She began to reiterate what the other girl was saying, so I just ended up cancelling the entire order and told her this is my last visit. All this was over getting my coffee before my meal. The manager looked as if she couldn't care less. I don't need to go somewhere and spend my money at such a place that does not value my business. read more

Worst Panera yet, longest wait for drive thru, and orders are ALWAYS cold. I keep coming back because of how close and semi convenient it is for me. I wish the managers would pay more attention to the yelp reviews because I know I'm not the only one having issues here. This morning was the last straw for me, the cashier at the window took about 5 min just to take my order, didn't seem to know the menu, and didn't know what I ordered when I got to the front to pay. There were only TWO cars in the drive thru, and the restaurant didn't seem busy and I still waited 20 min. When she handed me my order she wished me a good day and immediately turned around, I couldn't get anyone's attention to grab me some Splenda for my coffee and I could see two employees just chatting. This recently opened store is on the back side of the new Otay Ranch Town Center, and it's the best thing since sliced bread! My wife and I are semi-regulars there, and have tried a good number of their sandwiches and can recommend most. One of their signature items is their freshly baked bread, which they use for all of their sandwiches. They do both traditional deli-style sandwiches, as well as hot sandwiches and panini's. And of course, like any good sandwichery worth its dough, they have a nice selection of soups and salads. Also at this location, they've now started offering pizza! I haven't tried any of it yet, but I'd bet you dollars to doughnuts that it's good, too. They offer to-go service, as well as call-ahead service. I highly recommend the latter if you are in a hurry and it's getting towards lunch/dinner rush time, because they can get busy. And, like nearly every other Panera I've ever visited, seating can be a little bit crowded. All told, it's a great place for a fresh sandwich that you won't find at Subway! read more

This Panera was one of my favorite places to go. I ordered a You pick two sandwich and their latest Watermelon feta salad. I noticed a plate that was ready to be served. The server said this one is to go. A saw a bag thrown onto the counter. Just by chance, I asked if my order was ready. The person behind the counter said there it is, said sorry and have a nice day. I ordered a pannini and by the time I got it home my sandwich was cold!! I will never go to this place again!! Their customer service is terrible. I love Panera. They have great soups, salads, pastries, and new pastas! Since this location is only a few minutes away from my house I have been coming here since it opened. I have tried just about every item on the menu have always been gladly surprised at the level of consistency every time I order food. The only problem that I have at this location is the cleanliness. I'm not sure if it's the people training or if people just aren't good at their jobs but I have always noticed that they are slow to pick up dirty dishes and wipe down tables. Last month I was very shocked when I was eating there and I noticed the person busing tables just moved all of the plates from multiple tables to one and left it there for the 45 minutes that I was sitting there working. Other than that I definitely recommend coming here. And I definitely recommend ordering online if you don't want to eat inside. read more

He took our huge family's order, which we screwed up, and was totally cool about it and very very nice. Now there's a guy there named Dustin, he was best waiter/bus boy that I've ever encountered. I don't even want to list all the things that he did for us, but he really was awesome. Our family was very surprised and shocked to have seen this kind of service at a place like this. Good food! I like coming here because its close to home and they serve healthy food. I always take my order to-go and after taking my order it was ready within 5 minutes. Great customer service! I got the "You Pick Two" meal with the Smoked turkey breast sandwich and a cup of chicken tortilla soup and it was so good. The meal comes with a choice of bread, apple, or a bag of chips for $7.60. Which is not bad at all. I did try the SIerra Turkey Sandwich on my other visit and it was delicious! The bread for the smoked turkey was soft and the lettuce and tomato was fresh. read more

It's the second time that I ordered via "rapid" pickup ang yet again, it wasn't in the shelf when I arrived. I usually get there 15 minutes after the order time to give them more room for understandable delays to save me from frustration when it happened to me last time. The Manager and the girl from the dining area graciously helped me locate the order, but since I bought the food for a meeting at 9:30, I failed to check the bag. It was too late for me to find out the 2 tubs of cream cheese were not there. Be really hard to eat bagels without it. Worst part is, the girl on the phone said if I can drive back for it. This is the WORST Panera I have ever been to. The service was fine, I'm not complaining about that, but the food and cleanliness of the restaurant was AWFUL. I ordered half a sandwich with a cup of soup because they were out of the bread bowls which I love, and when I got my food it was tasteless, soup was cold and nasty and all the tables were dirty and the coworkers were Just standing around laughing and joking around. I honestly don't think I would ever give 1-star review, before today I didn't think it was possible. I'm forced to believe that any 5-star review for this Panera is either fake or a fluke. Food took a while, but it's 7pm, so no big. Food dropped off and my daughters plate had yogurt instead of bread as ordered. When we informed the person delivering food, she took the yogurt and walked away without a word, then returned after 10 seconds saying they were out of bread... at Panera.... (which we later saw other customers with). My daughters mac and cheese was cold, and the bowl was warm. My wife took the food back to the prep window and let them know to which she was asked "what do you want me to do? Do you want me to warm it up, or give you a new one?" (Note: an apology would have been a good start- and tone is everything). The food server clearly violates the California Heath and Safety code 113969(a) with her hair hanging below shoulder length from under her hat - this is the case for just about every female on shift right now. To be fair, once given a new bowl, my daughter's mac & cheese was tasty! My wife's food was enjoyed (despite being given the heel of sandwich bread). Omg, I love this place! It's like half restaurant, half cafe. Sooo awesome. I like the feel of the place and the one in Otay is huge. I can go anytime, if I need to study, surf the internet, have lunch.. or just to come by to pick up soup. The prices are decent as well because it seems that the quality is good. I have gotten the Signature Paninis, Cesar salads, Brocolli & Cheddar soup, Turkey Artichoke sandwiches, all are recommended. Thier cafe pieces are awesome as well, like thier Iced Mochas & Bagels/Muffins.. I come here to study & most of the time the crowd doesn't get annoying, maybe bring an ipod or listen to something on your laptop. The free Wi-Fi is awesome as well. I said I want bread for the first order and chips for the other. Of course the woman working the food line failed to add the chips to the bag. When I asked, she responded "Oh, you want the chips?" I've been wanting to try Panera for a really long time and I finally got the chance and was not disappointed. I got the pick two deal which was such a good deal! You get to pick 2 items from soups, 1/2 sandwiche or salads for less than $10. I love paninis so of course I got one of those. And I was debating between soup and salad and decided on the healthier option of salad even though usually I'm all for carbs and meat. I ended up with a die of Fuju apple chicken salad. And they also give you a bag of chips, or an apple or a cookie or something. The chipotle chicken pannini was good. Nothing amazing or anything but it was very flavorful, good amount of chicken and a little grilled. I wish it was a little more grilled though. The fuji apple salad: AMAZING. Like I said, I'm not a salad person but this salad had me talking for a while. It had romaine lettuce, tomatoes, onions, turkey or chicken, apple chips (not real apples), pecans and a fuji apple vinaigrette dressing. I was disappointed when I saw the apple chips but they were realllly good. And the pecans made it even more delicious. The vinaigrette definitely topped off the salad. A nice and light fruit dressing on top so the salad didn't seem that heavy. I was so full, but I had to finish my salad because it was so good. Overall, I think I was just really impressed with the salad. But if that's what it takes to get me to pick healthier options, then sign me up! read more

8am on a Sunday, there's only 4 cars at the drive thru and they are SO SLOW. At least 10 mins for each car's order. You pull up and you get no greeting, then someone comes by and closes the window and you just sit their and wait. I've come to this drive thru twice before at different times and have had the same service in addition to my order being incorrect both the other times I came. No apology or free cookie! I like this Panera location, lots of seating including a little tuck-a-way section for individual diners to stow away in. Free Wi-fi, friendly easy to read menu. Sandwiches are fresh tasting, my favorites are the portobello mushroom (marinated mushrooms, caramelized onions, basil) and bacon turkey bravo (bacon, turkey, yummy gouda). Served on your choice of breads, french, ciabatta, etc. You can get a nice combo, 1/2 sandwich and choice of daily soups (french onion, baked potato are good). If you stop by in the morning, you can get one of their souffles, spinach bacon and four cheese are great. I like the fresh breads here, and now (holidays) you can get panettone. (Oi!) Good coffees are available, the free wifi and location are great. read more
