I went to Panera's Drive through on 06/19/2024 around 6:56 p.m. and the drive thru cashier named Hanna (I hope I spelled your name right!) was absolutely so sweet! When I pulled up to the drive-thru speaker, I asked what was on a salad and she graciously went over every item that comes on it. When I pulled up to the window, she greeted my daughter and I with a smile which felt very genuine. As she collected my payment, she offered my daughter a free cookie while we waited for our food. She is an absolute keeper at the Council Bluffs, IA location, and the reason that I will be returning to that Panera location. Panera has always had phenomenal service at this location but Hanna's customer service was top notch! Thank you so much Hanna! I used to love Panera Breads sweets and sandwiches. Now they all are bland. Focaccia Turkey artichoke was fantastic as was the chocolate chocolate cookie. The Turkey sandwich I had was the most boring sandwich ever. Nothing had any taste. read more

Revising to 2 stars. Went back for breakfast and they were out of coffee, creamer and several customers very unhappy. My breakfast sandwich was cold. Extremely understaffed. Your typical Panera except you have to order from a touch screen computer. Navigating the menu and ordering took a while. Then you enter your cell phone and they text when it's ready. Certainly loses the personal touch. Food was good but losing stars for the lack of human interaction. read more

Apparently it's National Cookie Day! I decided to go here for a quick treat to celebrate it so I grabbed the Kitchen Sink cookie and Lemon Drop one. The kitchen sink one plus salt has a great combination of salt and sweet and the lemon drop could do with a touch more lemon. The parking lot here is decent but nothing insane. It does have a drive thru which I'd probably do next time as it seems this Panera was poorly planned (it feels fairly cramped). The staff was polite but it seemed to take a while to get through, although that might have been more to do with customers than the staff. read more

We wanted something fast, hot and near the highway. My husband liked his soup but was disappointed that they don't have crackers. The mac and cheese was great, as usual. I had the Frontega sandwich. Stopped here for breakfast on my day of errands. There's a drive up which is definitely a plus! Ordered a sausage, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and got the option of over easy or scrambled. I've been to this Panera a number of times but it seems that the prices just keep getting higher and higher every time I go. The 'You Pick Two' is tiered in a confusing way and it's basically $10 for a small half sandwich and small cup of soup, pretty pricey. Even though the food is always awesome, I still think the price point is too high. I go here with my daughter generally because its semi-healthy and they use good ingredients. read more

My family loves Panera bread! From the coffee and snacks to pastas and salads, and of course the bagels you can't go wrong with any of the options. We have been patronizing this place since they were at the mall and have always had great experiences. Recently the service has been lackluster and food quality/quantity seems lacking. Also they are frequently out of items which is frustrating. They also seem to be short staffed as well. I know covid has been tough for restaurants so I take it all with a grain of salt but compared to other chain establishments we frequent in the metro this location seems to have disproportionately gone downhill which is why I give it a 3. I will certainly stop in every now and then for my broccoli cheddar soup in a bread bowl and the occasional seasonal salad but I wouldn't ever go out of my way to come here. read more

Update on my review of their recent 'changes' and all the corporate 'excitment'. Have ordered bagels twice now....YES, the size has been noticeably reduced. Same for their cookies, for $3, you now get at the most 4 bites. Also scones down to maybe 3 or 4 bites for $3. No matter how much the manager "claimed" they improved their products, 1. They didn't! 2 the profit margin for every item has to be doubled and tripled.... Have been deliberately trying to listen to others and am hearing the same thing......"Let's stop buying this stuff or find another place..." Will be sorry to see them go, but reach a point where greed kicks customers out the door. read more

We entered a fairly large internet order for takeout at 7:45 p.m. At 8:30 we arrived to pick up our order only to find out that they hadn't even begun to prepare the order. To their credit, there was one other customer in the store. One. The kids working were very clearly not the slightest bit concerned about customer service/ customer satisfaction. I remained polite and am sitting at a table waiting as I write this but I have many dining choices and am unlikely to frequent another Panera Bread for a Long time. This place consistently omits things from to-go orders and when you call them back they are unsympathetic. The last time that I was there, they messed up the bagel order (how do you mess up a bagel order?) and left out the macaroni and cheese that I'd ordered for my granddaughter, so that I didn't have anything for her after her chemo appointment. They never include napkins or silverware in to-go orders even when specially requested. The bag ripped open the second I picked it up and the guy at the counter acted like I'd done that on purpose to inconvenience him. The drink machine was out of order. I've been to Panera a lot. Chicagoland, LA, etc. My experiences there are always fine. I especially like their Sensational Shrimp -- soba noodles, fresh veggies and tasty shrimp. It's definitely on the pricier side but worth the occasional splurge. Oh, and I love their breakfast soufflé. Very, very good. So this review of 2 stars is really based on one visit I made recently. I didn't have an appetite for much, but a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup and a grilled cheese sandwich sounded really good. It certainly helped that I had a $10 gift card. And I spent almost all of it on an iced tea, a bowl of soup and half a grilled cheese sandwich. Um, what? $10 for soup and a half sandwich? And here's what the grilled cheese was: two slices of their fancy white bread with some american cheese product melted in between. Sure the sandwich press marks on the bread were nice, but $3.49 for this sad, sad grilled cheese? This is in direct violation of my Cost-to-Value Index -- and my index is usually pretty liberal. I like to spend a little extra on something with quality ingredients or something I can't get just anywhere. I like to splurge, okay? But this...this was just a waste of money. I took a picture and you can see just how sad this lunch was. All for just under $10. The price point for the You Pick Two seems to be grossly inflated, especially when you order the half grilled cheese. I'll still come to Panera for the menu items I really love -- but I will never order the half grilled cheese as part of the You Pick Two ever again. And maybe I won't even bother with the You Pick Two either. Might have to stick to breakfast soufflé and Sensational Shrimp. Why pay $10-$12 for the You Pick Two when I can make a better sandwich at home? Probably the worst grilled cheese I've ever had. Very disappointing. read more

I stopped by on a road trip and found this Panera (I think it was this one) just off I-80. It had been a while since I had been to Panera and I am very picky about food quality (mostly eating organic/local type food) and so was a little skeptical. Most of the food even in most expensive restaurants is inedible for me. But I really enjoyed what I had here, including a couple of sandwiches, bagels and iced coffee. Everything was really tasty and felt like actual food (and pretty non-toxic food) to me. So now I am thinking that I am going to have to start going to the one that is near my home. In general, I would say that the complaints about the prices are wholly unwarranted. It was not all THAT expensive, and you really get what you pay for. Probably the cleanest this Panera location has ever been was today when my daughter and I stopped in. Normally, all the tables are dirty at lunchtime during the week. Glad to see tables have been designated for social distancing guidelines. I was pleased to see this location was open and serving customers from a distance. This Panera is always a pretty safe bet for a decent, quick meal. I LOVE the Mac n' cheese, and their frosted sugar cookies. I usually get the same thing when I visit Panera. A pick 2 with half tuna (get it on asiago focaccia, so good) and half soup... usually broccoli cheddar, or I'll do the Mac. Seasonally, the Autumn squash soup is really tasty. I rate 3 stars because the empty tables are usually dirty, and there's typically food pieces scattered around the floor. I stopped by this Panera on my way out of town last week. There was a new girl working the register and two things were annoying here: they ran out of bread (baguettes) as a side item AND they turned the lights down in the restaurant about 15 minutes before closing while people were still eating their food. I don't understand how a bread company can run out of bread AND it is tacky to lower the lights in the restaurant while people are still eating and the place is still open to outside people wanting to order food. read more

The food is acceptable, and it is handy to go there to get take out, etc. I think the fact that they are always busy says more about the lack of good bakeries/sandwich shops in the area than the quality of Panera. What really kills me about this place is that the service is horrible. Worst in the city. I would guess that about half the time that I go there (which is somewhat often, as the place is on my home-work route), they get my order wrong. It is to the point where I will drive 10 miles out of my way to go somewhere with help that is competent. Bottom line, if you're looking for sandwiches, go over to Cellar 19; if you're looking for a bakery, keep driving west. Wow it was a small sandwich, the onions on it over powered the tuna a bit. They have great unsweetened tea.
