Had a terrible experience 3 weeks ago. I arrived and hour and fifteen minutes before close. When I arrived the service at the counter was subpar with a girl who very much did not care to be at work, very obviously. The place is dirty and additionally completely out of almost all bread and also chips! The kiosks said they were out of all bread probably to discourage any more customers but when I inquired they did still have some bread. I didn't want an apple with my salad so I had to forgo the side. Who I was with said an apple was fine but she didn't get one with her meal. And we didn't ask because they were not friendly and starting to close! At an hour to close they are mopping and vacuuming! In fact a gentleman stood behind me and mopped under my chair! As I'm eating! I do NOT want the smell of chemicals while I eat. The kitchen is very obviously closing and I feel so rushed and like an inconvenient part of the day to them. Then as I'm finishing what looks to be a manager is sulking around, obviously frustrated, also yelling at employees and giving harsh closing commands in the kitchen. as I am leaving the staff is out in the dining room doing closing tasks and chatting and acted as if I didn't even exist. My son and I went into this Panera last night after I picked him up at football practice. He ordered Mac and Cheese and a simple Turkey and white cheddar on white bread, simple, right? NO ..... I ordered from the girls in the front, they gave me my buzzer and we found a seat. Buzzer never went off but when the order was ready some guy came over and just plopped our food down - I guess he was a food runner - But ignorant and 0 customer service or personalty - Just kinda threw it at us. Okay -- My son's sandwich, a steak and cheese looking thing which was a hot sandwich, so I said, excuse me this is wrong. Again NO words just mumbles something and off he went to the pick up window looking at my receipt never once did he say Oh okay, let me make you the right sandwich for you, nothing . So we wait , he finally comes over again nothing said and throws another sandwich at my son. Its HOT turkey and cheese on a crusty roll pressed with onion. OMG !!! So i finally go to the front and put the sandwich up at the take out window and say - Hi, SO this is wrong again !!!! He looks at me and says whats wrong with it? I explain its JUST A SIMPLE TURKEY AND CHEESE ON WHITE !! He mimics me and laughs at me - I said you need to make me this sandwich right and to go . He then proceeds to make fun of me and my son while talking to the cook. Never an apology, no communication and I felt like I was being punked !!! I can not believe they let this idiot work there !! I did the new online order and then arrived 20 minutes prior to the order time. They were unable to accommodate the time change. 3 workers and the manager were rude and unhelpful. Patrick (my cashier) did a wonderful job accommodating my 12 allergies, and making me feel taken care of. Of course this takes a lot of time, so a line formed behind me, and he was not worried about it. He took his time and triple checked the items to make sure that I would be okay. Although the food at Panera Bread is always fresh and tasty, the new location of this particular facility is terrible! It is poorly designed and the drive-through is soooo tight and difficult to navigate around! Neither is it easy to maneuver in-and-out of the parking lot, especially if you're attempting to exit to the right which leads directly in front of a Stop Sign. I made the mistake of stopping this past Wednesday evening and after struggling to maneuver my way into the parking lot - and vowing to myself that I wouldn't stop at this Panera again - I carefully stressed the specifics of my order to the server at the window, who was very kind and accommodating. HOWEVER, once I was in transit I discovered that the WHOLE sandwich I had ordered was actually a HALF sandwich, and my request for a baguette as a side order resulted in a bag of chips! (Although... I DID receive a pickle!) I was too far away to return to the restaurant and determined to take out my frustrations in a YELP Review! The store may not be able to modify the parking situation, but good CUSTOMER SERVICE should ALWAYS be a priority! There are ample reasons why there are so many ONE STAR reviews! Constantly runs out of bread. The last time they ran out they asked if I would like chips instead and I said yes. Came home, no chips. Also the sierra turkey sandwich was quite bland not anyway I remember it. This store used to be one of the favorite places for our family. It has become into one that we now would avoid. read more

In the past I have enjoyed Panera in Dedham because we can go for coffee late on a Saturday night when most other places are closed. and have always felt welcome to linger even while the restaurant is closing. I recently returned from resolving an emergency health issue with a child at college. Naturally, we thought of going to our favorite spot to talk, driving past another Panera to do so. Other customers were in the store. We took a booth next to the front window. I guess the other people must have left soon afterwards and we were the only customers left. Shortly after we'd sat down, one employee got a carpet sweeper and began sweeping around our table. I thought, "Are there no crumbs anywhere else?" But after he had repeated this cleaning routine about four different times and began re-positioning the table next to us, banging it into the booth partition, we realized he wanted us to leave. Another employee said loudly, "You've put the half and half away. People won't be able to get more coffee now!". This well before closing time. All the employees gathered in the kitchen area closest to our booth and loudly remarked how many minutes remained til closing time. So of course we obliged and left. The employee with the earnest desire to clean followed us out and watched us go to our car. I know it's not easy to find good employees in the minimum wage food industry but I was surprised at the level of rudeness of this bunch. read more

Parking is frustrating here but overall they always do a great job and never get my order wrong.

The problem I have with Panera, actually any location is that they make a simple thing like getting breakfast or lunch and turn it into a procedure. First off, any location cannot handle the amount of people they get in on a daily basis. The staff at these places is usually in a daze and doesn't know if they are coming or going. The places are not designed to hold the amounts of people they get in. Secondly, the food is just okay. Its named all these fancy names but all it is is danish and bread and sandwiches with fancy dressing. Stop with the stupid titles. Stick to the basics. Third, the prices are borderline crazy. Take the titles away and I have soup an a sandwich which should cost 4 bucks, here because of the title its like 8 or 10!! This particular location is a mess and designed wrong. The entry door puts you right where people are ordering so there is no place to wait. The staff is a joke and they fumble to get orders correct. I don't visit Panera much but when I do I start getting a headache. I predict these places will sonn go out of business and fade into existence like others that came before. read more

I love Panera and have been to several but this is the worst one as far as cleanliness and customer service. I generally go later in the day but the tables and soda fountain should be clean. It looks like it hasn't been swept for days. Can people really be that messy? Maybe, but the restaurant should be cleaned and it's clearly not. Seems like the whole place needs a good scrubbing. The workers seem to hate their jobs and putting together a sandwich seems more like a chore for them. I always get the same panini for take out and when I brought it home, it wasn't even "cooked". The cheese was not melted and it appeared that they used an onion skin instead of the actual onion! Quality is horrible. Panera prices have really gone up in the past year and to get this type of service and quality is not worth it. read more

I like Panera. Just not this one. My friend and I went around 8:30, which is understandably close to the 9 pm closing time, but there was nothing! All the food had already been wrapped up, and when we tried to order the woman at the cash register was incredibly rude and laughed back at her coworkers, "Do we even have baguettes?" when we asked for one with our purchased food. When we left at around 8:45, one of the workers had to unlock the door to let us out, because they had locked it behind us to avoid any one else coming in. We ended up getting it to go, and when we arrived home it was found out that none of our salads had dressing, and the small container we purchased for mac and cheese was only half full. If you do not want to be open until 9, that's fine, just don't advertise that you are open until 9. Will NOT be coming to this location again. read more

I love Panera and this is probably the worst one I've ever been to. It was crowded, the layout was poor, I asked for cheese on my salad and they forgot it (and it was to go, so I didn't know until I got home), broccoli cheddar soup (my fave) was thin, vinegary(HOW?), and watery YUCK, and worst of all the iced tea tastes like BURNED COFFEE. UGH. I love iced tea, and it really sucks when a place has a good tea blend and they ruin it by not having a dedicated iced tea urn. This one was particularly dirty, it tasted like they put a tea bag right into the coffee urn right after a batch of coffee! read more

The food is what it is, and it's distinctly Panera. The reason I'm posting a review is to comment on the very poor WiFi service. Look, you don't owe me WiFi - but if you're gonna have stickers at the entrance saying that you have free WiFi, then make sure you have a WORKING WiFi! Too many times I've come here, ordered soup or lunch or coffee, only to then sit down and find limited or no Wifi. And just as often when I ask, I'm told the WiFi is down that day. This is very deflating when I'm just trying to find a quiet place to get work done and then have to pack up and leave. read more

I have been here multiple times and every time is an issue, with 99% of the time it being slow service. Service is terrible, painfully slow and RUDE employees. Had to walk out twice without my order or else I would have been late for work. The manager is not helpful either, you see a line with 10 people waiting and you go in the back or slice bagels?? Waiting 10+ minutes just to order a coffee is ridiculous. Everyone walks around looking busy meanwhile there is one cashier and a line of angry annoyed people. Wont be coming here again! read more

My experience with this Panera Bread establishment has not been a good one. I ordered two Italian combo sandwiches and when it was time to consume my meal, I realized that there was a dead fly stuck underneath my bread. I immediately return to the establishment and asked for a refund. The manager claims the fly most likely came from the lettuce which probably indicate that the staff does not wash nor check the lettuce before serving it to the customers. I would never return to this establishment and I recommend that anyone who goes to this establishment thoroughly check their food before consuming. I expect much more from Panera Bread who prides themselves on fresh quality food. read more

Honesty Panera is really good. There food is about quality and quantity and they do provide that! I have never been disopointed... Some of there prices are a little extreme and that is why they get 4 stars instead of 5! $4 FOR A SMAL STRAWBERRY LEMONADE DRINK, and 8.50 for the you pick too. Which is the best deal you can get. half soup or sald or sandwich for 8.50 its a little pricy for a lunch... but you know you are getting quality and quantity. Every time I eat there is always something left over!.... Some of my favorite... Any form of bread is good! Chipotle Chicken Sandwich, Frontega Chicken Sandwich, Napa chicken Salad ( has grapes in it! sooooo good),Broccoli Chedder Soup, Corn Chowder, Tomato Mozzarella Salad, Steak and Blue Cheese Salad. Honestly when I go out to eat I eat the same thing, going here I try everything and I really do like everything! With so many varietiestoo choose from we can go there often!!! I used to really like this Panera Bread location, especially since its a few minutes from my house. But unfortunately, about 2 weekends ago I had my first horrible experience with Panera Bread. I ordered my typical French onion soup w/ a baguette on the side and a Fuji apple chicken salad (U Pick 2). My husband ordered his soup as well. As soon as we received our food, he noticed that the utensils were dirty. There was a fresh white substance that clearly looked like the spoon had just come out of some other kind of food. He had to go back to the counter and show it to them and they gave him another spoon. They acted as if it was nothing. We ate our food and left. Then that same night, I had a funny queasy feeling in my stomach. It was a bubbling noise that sounded like my food had not digested. I thought to myself, why would my stomach be doing this when all I ate was a soup and salad. I figured there might have been something wrong with the food. I cannot tell you how many times I had to run to the bathroom...and I literally had to run each time. I was amazed and shocked because I have NEVER had a bad experience with Panera. I am still disappointed to this day. Thinking about it even sickens me. I told myself, I will never step foot in the Dedham Panera Bread ever again. Again, this was my 1st bad experience and that is why I had to do this review. I am not sure if the management has changed in the past year because I saw alot of new faces that I did not recognize this time around. Or maybe it was just not a good day for them. If you love Panera, do yourself a favor and go to any location EXCEPT Dedham, Ma. The customer service is TERRIBLE. I stopped going to this location about a year ago and returned last night (since I was in the area) hoping things would be different. My mistake. Around 8:00 PM all the employees are more concerned about putting away food and prepping for the next day rather than acknowledge me as a customer waiting patiently at the register. When I was acknowledged, it was only by silently staring at me for a second and then going back to cleaning. Unbelievable. Not one employee said a word to me, completely ignored me! I walk over to the bakery to ask to place my order. Surprisingly a young man acknowledged me when I asked, "is anyone able to place my order?" This was the only staff member in the building who was courteous. I was not given a pager after I paid, instead told to walk over and they would call my name when my order was ready. I waited about 10 minutes (place was almost empty) and noticed a bag just sitting on the counter. Again, all staff members are cleaning and not paying attention. I finally ask if the bag was for me, and got nothing but a head nod which I assumed was implying "yes." I open the bag to see it was my salad complete with the French Baggett bread I requested. The bread was harder than a rock and burnt. Irritated but still polite, I ask for an extra side of dressing and if there is any fresh bread. An older man finally speaks to me (with an angry attitude) "what do you want? that is fresh!" Surprised by this unnecessary burst of rudeness I show him the clearly stale and burnt bread and he then rolls his eyes at me and all but threw a newer piece into my bag. I asked (again) for the extra side of dressing. The same older man (without even making eye contact) said rudely, "He already gave it to you." Implying one of the silent employees who ignored me already gave me the dressing. At this point I am so pissed and inform him that I did not receive it. More eye rolls finally got me the dressing. My work employees and I used to get lunch from this Dedham location several times per week in the past but are now going to the Westwood, Ma location so we can be treated with respect. I was a waitress for almost 10 years, I cannot believe the way these staff members all treated me. In a well managed restaurant this kind of behavior would never be tolerated. They are lucky they even have any customers left. I will never return to this branch nor will my coworkers or anyone else with common sense. read more
