Last year, I noticed that Panera's food had gotten so much worse and smaller while more expensive, so I stopped going there. Today I had an appointment that was close to Panera and decided to buy lunch. I was shocked by how much lower they fell, even in comparison with last year: - No more fresh-based bread on ALL sandwiches!, Bread is frozen soft, tasteless, the cheapest possible option. -The salads miss the most tasty ingredients like nuts and dried berries - The chicken is the same as in McDonald's, with a rubbery texture due to soy injections Basically it became no different from MacDonald or Subway! I usually order online and pick up in store from this Panera. The store is clean and workers very friendly. My only complaint is that from time to time the food is not ready when it says it will be - doesn't happen often but definitely has happened. I met a friend here to catch up so I didn't pay attention to staff but don't recall any issues that others experienced. I used a coupon I was sent since I gave up on Panera a few years ago when they cut the amount of ingredients in salads. I hadn't visited in years. I wish I could say something good about the food but it was a different kind of disappointment this time. I had the strawberry chicken salad. The fruit in the salad was great but with the dressing it was just too sweet. The chicken was watery and kind of slimy more like a cold cut. They called the bread a baguette. It used to be a nice tasty chewy chunk of bread that qualified but now it's merely a bland bread roll that lacked flavor with nothing crusty about it. I frequent this Panera a lot. Why do I frequent a place that I just give two stars to? Well, first of all it's a Panera so I never really have high hopes. Second of all, my children like the food there, so for the most part I know they will eat SOMETHING when we go. Third of all, my kids can be slightly noisy and they aren't really bothering anyone because... once again... it's a Panera. Why the two stars? For the most part, we have to wait AGES for the food to arrive each time we are there. And it's not always that crowded, so I don't know what the hold up is half the time. The service could cheer up just a tad. I'm not looking for a whole song and dance, but the cashiers always seem to be annoyed that you are bothering them with your order. Tossing out four stars to this place for not judging me. My son was a raging psycho for the 20 minutes we were there eating and not a single employee gave us "The Look." I've given plenty of people "The Look" over the years. That was before my son came along. Now I'm ashamed of that younger me. Broccoli cheddar soup was great, as always. The star came off because my wife's salad was soggy and drenched in dressing. I like this location because it has easy access from Rt 17, plenty of parking, store options in the mini mall and it's comfortable inside. I come here when I have to do a report or any other project. By far the WORST Panera I have ever set foot in. Everything is a mess - literally. The dirty dishes bin was stacked so high it looked like they were going to fall. There are napkins, straws, and garbage everywhere. The manager came out to change the garbage, knocked over the milk, and let it spill all over the floor. She went about what she was doing and then sent someone else to clean it up. On top of all this, they gave our order to someone else so they had to remake it. Went to the E Rutherford, NJ location near Homewood Suites. I have some standbys at Panera - the Asian sesame chicken salad and the orange scone. I ordered both of these to go at a kiosk. They completely forgot the scone, so I called back and the person said they'd refund the entire order. Which was unexpected but turned out to be the right thing to do because they gave me some oily Italian-like dressing - not the flavorful Asian sesame dressing. Don't know where to start. I've been here a few times and each time I've come I've had to wait over 25 mins for something. The first time i simply came for a cup of coffee. There had to be 3 people behind the counter but only one person was taking orders and getting the food for the same customer. When I finally ordered they also gave a hot cup of coffee when I asked for an iced. The next time I came I had the same problem where I had to wait 25 plus minutes for a sandwich and soup that I ordered to go! I'm not sure what's going on with the team or management but maybe hire more people especially because this location always has a lot of foot traffic and it's located in a shopping center. I just had an awesome experience here. I mean Panera is Panera-great stuff, however this Panera is exceptionally accommodating. I came in later on a Sunday (today) for 2 salads one being the shrimp Mediterranean. I put the order in and after a bit (and paying) I was notified they ran out of shrimp and they asked if I wanted chicken or steak. I told them nicely I came for that salad; such a bummer. You can order your own option at the screens stands or place your order at the over the counter. They have soda fountains so your drinks are refillable. They have microwaves if you want to warm up your food at higher temps. The place is busy during weekends. It seems to be a very popular place for high schoolers. The sitting area needs cleaning.
