The food in this Panera is as good as any....but the experience my wife and I had last night was terrible, service-wise. When I tell you it took a half an hour to get our food, I'm not exaggerating. As I said, the food is the same as you'd expect at any Panera. It's a chain and they all work from the same playbook. But this one needs to train it's people better or figure out a better organization strategy so they can make people's food faster and more accurately (while I was waiting I saw an instance where an item was made wrong and another were an entire meal was missed in a group). read more

This place was filthy. Bathrooms smelled like urine and was not clean. Floors were dirty and the paper towel dispenser looked like it was half ripped off the wall. We were served dirt spoons and had to ask for plastic. Their dinning areas smelled like grease. I am not trying to sound mean and I do realize the challenges with Covid but most places are super clean because of Covid and should be when your business serves food to the public. I will take my money elsewhere and not return to this location. read more

I used to like this location, but my experience today was horrible! If I had read the other recent reviews, I would have known to stay away. To start, the line was long at the sandwich counter, so we decided to get coffee and bagels first. Well, they couldn't toast our bagels because their toaster was broken (it's a bakery, right? Yet the girl at the counter said it had been broken all week). So I walked over to the sandwich counter and asked if they could toast our bagels on a panini grill. They agreed, reluctantly ("only if we don't have too many sandwiches to grill"). So, after we ate our bagels, we ordered our meals. They had a new soba noodle soup, and we asked if we could get that with a "you pick two" special. The high school guy taking our order said "yeah." So we placed two orders, and my girlfriend asked if we could get one of the 99 cent pastries advertised at the register. "Yeah," he said again. We paid quickly, since there were people behind us, but then I realized while we were waiting for our two meals that our bill was $32.00 ($40 once you factor in the bagels and coffee). That's for two half-sandwiches, two cups of soup, and a 99 cent pastry. We complained to the manager about the price, and he said that the new soups were not part of the "you pick two" deal, so they had charged us $10 each for them. They made no attempt to correct their error or apologize for giving us bad information. I then pointed out that we were charged $3 for our "99 cent" pastry. Their explanation was that because we had paid for our coffee separately at the other counter, then we had not purchased beverages, and therefore were not entitled to a 99 cent pastry. I had to argue with the cashier for several minutes before the manager walked over and told him "What are you arguing about? Just give him back his $2!). And to top it all off, the soups looked nothing like they did in the pictures. Both bowls were half-empty (they made me a pessimist today), and one of them had hardly any ingredients -- only a little broth, one-half of a hard boiled egg and a handful of soggy noodles. I was a Panera fan for a long time; but next time, I'm going across the parking lot to Cook-Out, where that same $40 would have fed my entire family. read more

Took my son and his family to Panera's for dinner. I ordered the Turkey Cranberry Flatbread and the Autumn Squash Soup. When I picked up the Flatbread...the juice from the cranberry poured all over the place and proceeded to soak the Flatbread. I open it up only to discover the sandwich held three silver dollar sized pieces of turkey, six pieces of baby spinach and whatever they call the pink sauce. The Flatbread for lack of a better description tasted like a toasted dish rag. Then...I tried the soup. Concocted with some sort of sweet juice this soup wasn't even close. $81.00 for six people. A waste of money. If you want to eat healthier...do it yourself. I will never...ever...go back. read more

I love Panera... Any Panera except this one! The customer service has gone from bad to horrible! I went in to get an order of Mac and cheese. There were two employees at the food prep area and neither was interested in preparing my order. When I finally asked about it Hudson was very rude and seemed annoyed that he had to actually prepare an order. As I was walking out he started complaining to his coworker. Decided on visiting this location as I was overdue for my Panera bread fix. I came here about 45min before closing. The place was clean, service was great, & the food delicious as usual. Ordered a Green goddess salad and chicken chipotle avocado panini. Tho location is not afraid to be generous with the avocado, which is alright with me. The panini was crisp and tasty. I placed a mobile order for pickup at 7:09 pm and was told it would be ready by 8:10. Typically when I order from Panera my food is ready before the estimated time, however at 8:10 I still hadn't heard anything about my order being ready so I went ahead and went inside. I didn't see my order on the pickup shelf so I went to the counter to check on the status of my order. The staff asked around to see if anyone had made my order and then proceeded to check the system. After checking the system and finding my order they informed me that they overlooked my order because they were so ready to go home. Mind you, I placed this order 3 hours before they close. They went ahead and made my order but never once apologized and made me feel as if this was my problem. I waited an hour and a half for an order from Panera Bread and STILL did not receive my full order. This was absolutely ridiculous and while I understand wanting to get off work and go home, you should NEVER tell a customer that you did not make their food because you were ready to close 3 hours before closing, and at the very least should apologize for the mistake YOU made. read more

Panera bread is one of my favorite delis. As the other two reviewer's have stated it's a bit overpriced, but usually the food is pretty consistently good. But not at the Kernersville Panera Bread. They are consistently inconsistent. It's a chain so you'd think that each time they make your food they'd make it to the chains specs. I think this store tries to make more money by putting less meat on each sandwich. The picture below is the turkey flatbread with cranberry. It's supposed to have 1oz. Of turkey. I make my sandwiches each morning for work with 2 ounces of meat so I'm pretty sure I know how 1 ounce should look. Look at the picture below see if you agree with me does that look like 1 ounce of meat. If you're in Kernersville North Carolina and you're hungry I suggest you go just a little bit past Panera Bread on Main St. and eat at the Loop pizzeria. read more

The food here is standard for Panera. The food isn't the issue for me. Panera is definitely pricey and I already don't feel like it's always worth the price, so I don't eat here too often. However, I've probably come 1-2 times a month for the last 8 months or so. My biggest complaint is the staff. Probably half of the times I have been here, the staff has been insanely rude and just unpleasant and the other half of the time they're average. The service is definitely sub-par compared to other locations. Honestly, I would probably never return if there were another quick service place nearby with reasonably healthy food. read more

Ok, before I go further - I fully realize that restaurants are struggling a little during covid. However, it's nearly 2 pm here, and they appear to have ample help. I'm looking at my table and those across/behind me. All of them have not been wiped off. It's not like their trying to catch up or the mess is fresh - it's largely dried on to the table top. I'm seeing smeared and dried remains of food on the wall by my booth also. All the glass and doors are heavily smeared and finger printed. It was a bad mistake using the Men's bathroom, but I had to go. HEAVY smell of urine is the first thing that hits you. Wet floor, toilet paper all over it, dirty/foul looking toilet, and it looks to have been a very long time since the walls, floors, countertops, sink, and touch-heavy surfaces have been sanitized. Lunch? It was just OK. Edible, but far from the quality I used to expect from Panera. Not someplace I'll return too any time soon. read more

I can't afford to eat here often but their food is excellent but the other day I ordered something off the rapid pick-up menu and got it to go and they got my salad completely wrong I called spoke to a manager immediately not only did they refund the total cost of my meal they gave me another free meal the next time I came in. I typically love Panera, but this was the most frustrating visit I have ever experienced. After seeing the line and two people on one register I decided that the employee's deserved a break since they were training someone. However, as we got closer what I found was a condescending manager doing a poor job training an employee. I am not sure if it is common practice for a manager to call a lady "mom" and continue to call the group a "fam", but Panera may want to reconsider who they give a manager badge to in the future. This is a great place to come for some, others will hate it. I'm in the middle, there are a few things on the menu that I like, the turkey bacon and cheese panini for one. My wife and I have purchased bagels from this restaurant for years. We only go because we like the bagels. That is when they are thawed correctly. Anything else is overpriced and the serving sizes are too small for the cost. The bagels are very inconsistent. Panera bread's bagels are thawed and baked. I suspect much or all of their breads are thawed and baked and not made from scratch like they would lead you to believe. At least half of the time the bagels do not rise, like a Pillsbury canned biscuit failure,. They are thin, tough and the hole in the bagel is at least 2 inches in diameter. Sad and a rip off. They are not eatable. There are definitely issues with management in this restaurant. There are a couple of servers who are smart and care about their service. The majority of the employees are kids and have no interest in providing any customer service. They are just there. They provide the minimal effort. I know to order bagels at 6:30 in the morning. If you do not order before 7AM there will be no bagels. If I get the good server she listens, follows my instructions and provides a great service. I pick the bagels up at noon and if they are placed in a plastic bag and sealed remain fresh. If you do not ask for that they are tough and not fit to eat. Many times though if that server is not there you get a kid who is only interested in getting off the phone. They do not listen and mess up the order consistently. I have complained to the corporate management web site and all they ever do is maybe say "well you can get 6 bagels free." Great! The service and product continues to be poor. Stopped into this Panera last night with a serious craving for the broccoli cheddar soup in the bread bowl. I went out of my way to get this soup and waited in line 10 minutes before even getting to order because there was only one person working the registers. Finally a girl who was wandering around behind the registers in a sweatshirt (no uniform or anything to indicate she worked there) logged into a register when the line became about 6 people deep. She did not greet me, just looked at me to indicate I could approach and place my order. I put in my order for the broccoli soup in the bread bowl and she tells me they are out of bread bowls and then adds, with a smile, they are also out of baguettes. This was at 7pm - prime dinner time. She offered no apology and was, in fact, smiling about the fact that they did not have what I wanted. I left without ordering anything and I will not be returning to this Panera. The service at this location needs some SERIOUS work. read more

The food quality has suffered - small portions of cold soup, cold (previously frozen) bread and sub par food overall. Service has also deteriorated over the past few months. Just walked out on this Panera. Walk in with 34 minutes until closing and they are breaking down. The moment we walk in there are bad vibes. As we brush off the glares from the workers, we head to the front. It was hard to keep a smile as they were screaming across the room "We have a family," in a rude manor. We eat at the Miller St. location very often and love it. We decided to try the Kernersville location for breakfast. Today was our third visit. Our first visit I ordered quiche, they were out of all quiche (8:30 am). Second visit we ordered sesame bagel and a cinnamon crunch bagel, they were out of both (8:30 am). Today our third visit we were the first in line of eight people. We ordered one quiche, two bagels and two coffees. The server put the quiche on a tray and set it at the end of the counter and filled the orders of all the people behind us in line. I asked a manager why was I still waiting for my order? He asked me was the quiche at the end of the counter mine? I replied perhaps but where was the remainder of my order? With an air of frustration he replied that the server was getting the remainder of my order. Alas when the tray was handed to me the order was not correct. There is definitely a management problem at this location and customer service is very lacking. We will not return to this bakery location. read more
