I would like to start off by saying I love Panera but I absolutely believe this place needs a corporate visit and retraining. The women at the register didn't know what was in any sandwiches we were inquiring about and couldn't answer any questions so we randomly choose. All of our orders were over cooked and we couldn't even bite down on the bread !! It was burnt , my boyfriend got a completely different bread we didn't order and all of our Sandwiches had over cooked meat to the point it was chewy and honestly offensive. I felt personally disappointed that such a great company could go down hill without even managing the restaurant. You need to have management train the front staff at the register so they don't feel uncomfortable with questions and you need to empower them to help add on some extra food we would of totally ordered more (of course not after what we ate) please retrain your chefs to ensure they know what they are doing I feel like everything that happened , happened because no one was helping these employees when they needed it. I honestly don't intend on coming back but for the high end area you service please stand proud by your product you sell !! read more

I went to this location (La Canada) even though it was a bit away as I live in Altadena. I ordered 2 full sandwiches at $11 each and a full salad w/ half a sandwich. My total order was $44. The cashier taking the order said the sandwiches come with chips but I did not want chips so he suggested baguettes instead. Since one came with my salad I said extra bread would be nice. My order was to go. I got home and found that I had not received ANY of the baguettes! This really made me angry considering the location was a ways away from me and I could not just jet back. And that I had paid $44 for a partial order and didn't receive any of the bread! How hard can it be to check 2 1/2 sandwiches, a salad and bread! The customer service here totally sucks! This place is very terrible, the food is very overpriced. There is this one lady and she is a red head and she is very rude. I walked with my friends and the first thing she did was yell at us. the only reason that i keep subjecting myself to the subpar service at this location is because the baked goods are fresh and tasty. also, i received a gift card for christmas. i have had three problems at the location, and don't know how much more i can take. the first time i had a problem, one of the sandwiches i had paid for was missing, and i didn't notice until i got home. when i went back to pick up the sandwich, they acted like nothing was wrong. they gave me the sandwich, but didn't acknowledge the fact that i had to drive back to the location, and back home again. the next problem that i had was with a phone order. i called it in, went in and paid for it. then waited, and waited some more. other people who came in after me were leaving with food, and i was still waiting. after 20 minutes, i asked the manager what was going on. he didn't have an explanation. he gave me the order, and a refund. last night, when i phoned in my order, and asked when it would be ready, i was told 5 minutes. the person at the counter rang up the wrong order, and i had to wait for the manager to void it. i paid for my order, then went to the waiting area. 10 minutes went by. someone sat down next to me, and the staff immediately called her name to say that her order was ready. when i asked about my food, the gal who works there said, "oh. it was sitting back here the whole time, i didn't see you sitting there." i asked her if she ever called my name. she said "no." how would i know the order is ready then? i asked for the manager. i asked her what happened. she said that the person who rang up my order was new, and that she should have handed me my food. i asked for a coupon, or something to make up for the wait, and she told me to talk to the manager on duty AT MY NEXT VISIT. i'm not sure if there will be a next visit for me. i'm extremely disappointed with the service at this location. read more

The coffee and the pastries are good. That was about as good as it got. The service was horrible. Several missing items from our order, they never brought our daughters hot chocolate or orange juice out. To their credit, they did take our receipt when They dropped off my sandwich and never questioned. When we finally did get silverware for our food it came back dirty three times. Admittedly, I may have been a little over the top. I will recap my experience and you can decide if I am being a little rash. We placed our order: two coffees, an orange juice, hot chocolate, breakfast sandwich, soufflé, cherry Danish, yogurt parfait, fruit cup. (Yes here with family) I can understand if something was left out it was a large order. But no, everything on the the receipt. The soufflé and Danish came with knife and forks no utensils for fruit or yogurt no big I'll pick up at condiments section. Hmm no utensils, ok, I'll ask behind counter. Oh out of coffee. I'll let someone know behind counter. They are quick at replacing coffee and giving me a spoon. I make it to my table and they have already delivered my sandwich and taken our receipt. They forgot hot chocolate and orange juice, the spoon has baked on something left from dishwasher. To their credit they gave me the OJ and hot chocolate with no problems after mentioning they had taken the receipt when delivering the sandwich. They gave me a fresh spoon, hands full I didn't check, I mean come on what are the odds I'll get another bad one right. Sit down and this spoon is worse than the last. I return for another spoon and it is also dirty but much less so than the first two. I give up and grab a napkin wet and wipe. Good enough. Better than what they have been giving me at least. I finally get to sit and eat, by this time the rest of my family is finished. It has been awhile since eating here, but I vaguely recall more substance. If you did not pull the bread apart you would not be aware that there was anything in the middle. Honestly, the Starbucks breakfast sandwiches would be much more satisfying and cost less too. Coffee here was good though ;-). I know my review varies from others but I haven't been a college student for years and don't require this establishment to get free wifi. First I like that the corporation says they will remove all artificial colors, sweeteners, preservatives and flavors by 2016. Anyways food is always pretty good. Most of the time the service is always friendly too. The two things that stand out is for a side of small mac and cheese it is $4.99, that just a little absurd. The main kicker is that employees try to keep the restaurant clean but some of the customers seem to have not been taught manners. Pick up your plates and put them many designated dish areas when you are finished! Purchased a Greek Quinoa salad. The order was completely wrong when they gave it to me. That salad was not even on the menu. Basically, they put together some lettuce, a few thin slices of red onion and just a few pieces of cucumber...only a few fork size amount. I brought it up with the person at the counter. Visited several times and overall this is a disappointing Panera. Most of the employees are high school kids and there never seems to be a manager around to motivate them to do good work. My main complaint is that the place isn't clean. The soft drink and coffee area are usually a mess, tables are infrequently wiped, and both the tile and carpeted floor areas are typically dirty from dropped food and foot traffic. The kitchen floors don't look good either. On a more minor note, the coffees/hot water don't seem to get refreshed very often. This location has been open for two years or so and things haven't gotten better, I guess they make enough money as is and don't care to improve things. read more

I've gone here a few times with family, and each time the food never really tastes all that great..just ok. But today, we ordered two soups, one of which in a bread bowl, online. We picked up the food, got home, and when we opened one of the soup containers, it had literally one tablespoon of soup in it! We were surprised as this has never happened before. So I called them, spoke to a manager, and instead of being understanding and trying to resolve the issue quickly and professionally, she kept asking me questions like "so how much soup was in the container, exactly?" "was the soup at the middle of the container or below half?" In the end she said that she would give us credit for our next visit, but i told here, hey you guys have delivery, it would be nice if you can just deliver us the food. And she said, we don't have anyone on staff. She was clearly lying, since we were just there and there was obviously more than 5 people working. So all in all, we didn't have the dinner we paid for, it was a bad experience, they have bad customer service, mediocre food, and its not worth your time or money. This experience is the cherry on top, and I will never go there again. read more

My family and I really enjoy the food/beverages on the menu and the kind service at the La Cañada Panera. Unfortunately today I walked into something NEW at Panera! Only one cashier was open( 2-3 cashiers closed yet plenty of workers around) and 6 NEW tablet kiosks to place orders. First of all, I support HUMANS having employment and not being replaced by technology COMPLETELY! So we waited patiently in a long line and the cashier told us to use the kiosk! I didn't wish to use, but I did since I saw the soufflés running out! 6 more left! So I use the tablet and GLITCHES GALORE. The screen read that ALL soufflés are TEMPORARILY out! Yet I was looking at 6-8 behind the glass counter. Then I ordered the pumpkin cheesecake bagel and the spicy cream cheese was out. That wasn't recognized by the kiosk....or the cashier either. I was served plain cream cheese without any suggested replacement. I STOPPED the kiosk MADNESS and finished my order with the cashier! What a STRESSFUL breakfast! ONLY RECOMMENDATION I HAVE...is please have three cashiers open...and provide them JOBS...and Wonderful Human service we have come to LOVE about this place. It was my first time here, I received a gift card and I must say I am definitely a return customer! I ordered the pick 2 for lunch. The steak arugula sandwich and the broccoli cheese soup. Added the chocolate chip muffie for 99cents. The sandwich was a bit soggy by the time I got back to the office but it was still good. The bread that comes with the soup is to die for, OMG I wish I had more just to snack on. The bread has a perfect crunchy soft crust and soft in the center.Bread is my weakness, if this was closer to my house I'd be here all the time. The food is good, waitstaff service is good but hostess was a dud. Someone there goofed the reservation head count, the hostess asked us to wait for a larger table. Time passes, I inquire about the wait, she says not long, again and again for 1.5 hours. If we weren't lied to constantly, we could have easily gone elsewhere instead of starving the four kids with promises of 15 more minutes while the table is being prepared, over and over again. This is a great Panera Bread. I was reluctantly to eat here given the five people working at the front when we walked in and stood with no one helping us for five minutes but when Harold finally came around, he was very helpful and had some great food suggestions. He confirmed with us that this Panera is corporate owned and in my estimation better and cleaner than the ones in Glendale and Torrance. I wish that could give 0 starts because this Panera bread in la canada is the worst Panera bread I've ever been to. The managers here are extremely rude to me and my dad for studying in here and plus we bought a bunch of food on top of that. To be specific we got 30 dollars worth of food. Yet they still give us NASTY looks plus it's not full in here at all. All they do is yell at everyone even though they did nothing wrong. The managers her also take pictures of everyone adding a time limit to how long they can stay here based off of their appearance, for an example these older lady's stayed here for 3 hours with no time limit but yet as soon as 30 min passed they kicked out a group of young girls who where simply just studying here doing nothing wrong. Back to the picture part this restaurant is a privet property therefore taking picture of people without consent is illegal and I could take legal action if I wanted to. The workers are very polite and nice but the managers make it a very uncomfortable an unpleasant area to eat. I would never recommend coming here because of how horrible you will be treated if you look underage. On top of that I came to Panera to sit down then order food but first I asked for water and the manager gave me a rude look for 5 seconds then said that I need to leave for no reason. read more

Me and two of my friends came in here to looking forward to a fine dinning experience. But what we received was far from it! One of our friends went in line and we sat down to wait for him. A waiter that I think went by the name Connie immediately came up to us and threatened to kick us out if we didn't buy anything but we told her that our friend was. They then told us that two of us had to purchase something or we would be kicked out. After that, they came up to us again and told us that we had to sit in the middle of the room because we weren't allowed to sit in a booth. So we got up and had to move all of our stuff to a table. I'm generally a panera fan but this location lacks some combination of efficiency and accuracy. I waited 17 minutes for my order , which given that I usually would go to a panera over a half hour lunch real is pretty unacceptable. Moreover, I asked for a salad with dressing on te side, because I'm super picky about dressings in general - but no, the salad was drowning in some syrupy sweet dressing. Cleanliness is also an issue ( do they ever try to sweep or vacuum?) To be fair the food was decent, pretty much what I expect for a panera. I got the mushroom soup, very hearty, and the turkey wheat berry salad, which aside from the dressing was fresh and tasty. This is a convenient spot to grab a quick lunch or coffee. It's pretty much like any other panera - a baked goods section, as well as a selection of salads, sandwiches, and simple pastas. I'm surprised at the number of reviews that complain about the dirtiness because it's never been as bad as the other reviewers describe when I've gone. The food is decent. I would avoid their pastries, which all have serious issues. The breads and bagels are always good however. I'm a fan of the baked potato soup, which they unfortunately don't carry everyday, as well as their spinach power salad. The Mediterranean breakfast sandwich is good too (tip, you can ask them to add bacon to it). Overall though, none of the food here will be really bad, and nothing will be really great. The service is pretty mediocre here, with a few of the workers seeming to be trapped in a perpetually sullen state. But they still manage to be quick and efficient for the most part, handling lunch crowds well, and I've never waited more than ten minutes for my food. read more
