Awful service! Not enough staff to compliment the amount of customers. Restaurant is dirty and seems to lack any management

As far as I can tell, all Panera's have the same pretty decent food. Pretty much all around decent food for a bakery chain type place. I like their egg souffles. Bagels and such are reasonable. Soup and sandwiches are hit or miss. Good fresh baked bread. As a student looking for a place to study Pros: -really a bunch of tables -free drink refills -free wifi Cons: -at times it is super BUSY -not as many outlets as one would like -it can be pretty loud at times -while the wifi is free, during busy times Panera may limit you to a half hour For an OK place to study and predictable food, I would give this Panera 3 stars. However, on more than one occasion I have seen the staff be very kind to people who seem to be less fortunate or in some way vulnerable. I have observed the staff to know the names of folks who are only there for water and a place to sit down. In one case I saw a seemingly developmentally disabled adult drawing pictures for various staff members, who graciously accepted them. They do a good job hiring people here who have a high level of human decency. read more

I love panera's broccoli chedder soup and french bread on the side. I also love their egg souffles! (though i do think they are a bit pricy). However, I am not a fan of their sandwiches and salads. They recently remodeled this place and it looks great. Just wanted to mention that the service is excellent and the workers are peppy and always keeping busy (looking around, cleaning tables, trash, etc). This is one of the busiest Panera locations I have been to. It's a big location, in a large strip mall real close to Michigan State University. There are many students grabbing a coffee and jumping on the free wifi. Almost every table was taken, but there was a high turnover rate too. that said, there had to be at least 40-50 tables at this location. The outside area is small, 4 to 5 tables, but it's a busy mall, and the Panera is at a busy intersection, and sitting outside got noisy. Other than that, it's a typical Panera with coffee, bagels, sweets, sandwiches, soups and salads. It's a little more expensive than fast food burger places, but I feel like I'm getting a better quality food. read more

It tastes okay, but the real scare for me came when I checked out the menu online. If you ask people whether they're eating healthier at Panera or the fast food joint down the street, guaranteed they'll say Panera. Did you know many of their sandwiches are 800+ calories? Just the sandwich! Add in chips, a drink, maybe a cup of soup or cookie, and you're pushing 1500 calories. Believe it or not, a Bacon Turkey Bravo has more calories than a Whopper with cheese. Don't kid yourself, Panera is bad-for-you fast food, it's just dressed up in healthy clothing. read more

I'm a fan of Panera's, however this location is in need of some TLC. The dining area was a mess - crumbs on tables, on the floor, used napkins stuff in the side of booths. Very dirty and uninviting. In addition many of the booths are in desperate need of repair. The women's restroom is nothing to write home about either. read more

My husband and I stopped here for lunch on a Friday. It was crowded but they quickly took our to go order. Then we waited and waited. Took us 25 min to get in and out with a to go order for 2 people. I have been to panera a lot and often order the frontega chicken sandwich. This one tasted different and not in a good way. Even the baguette I got as my side was burned and crunchy. Seriously, how do you screw that up?! It's usually my favorite part of the meal. Very disappointing panera experience. read more

Should've left this a couple weeks ago when it happened...but anyway. Went in on a late Saturday morning. Long line, so-so service, whatever it's a chain coffee place don't expect much more. But oh wow it got so much better...they ran out of coffee! RAN OUT OF COFFEE! I don't mean an employee was out there swapping out coffee tanks, no they were OUT, staff apparently didn't give a damn at all. People telling them they are out, employees just meandering around like this isn't a problem. Took the 1/4 of a cup I managed to get and finally left. After at least 5-10min waiting, it wasn't even like 'hey we're so sorry we're working on it', no acknowledgement from any worker there that it was even a problem! AND there was a manager standing back in the kitchen area, I don't know if he was trying to hide or somehow oblivious enough to not notice what was going on! Unreal...I just chose to leave over making a big deal about it because of the company I was with there. Short-staffed? Crappy company so employees don't give a damn? Horrible management? IDK...but have rarely seen anything like that. Went back, again the company I was with, its the quick easy spot didn't want to rock the boat so ok. AGAIN...long line, and apparently they were out of coffee CUPS! So I was handed a large clear plastic soda cup. This time though only ONE of the coffee flavors was empty, at least I managed to get a cup out of the second one before it was emptied. Unreal, so many better options, Quality Dairy or Speedway are better options for coffee AND customer service than Panera. read more

Whoever made my sandwich today did a terrible job putting it together. I got basically 1 slice of avocado on there and it looked like they just threw it on the bread and that was it. I normally get the chipotle chicken, but decided to switch it up today and I'm really disappointed in how they put my sandwich together. Yes! My sister was in the hospital eating crappy food and I wanted to send her soup as I live in California. Panera came thru quickly with some chicken noodle soup and a salad. I ordered her a cookie and the Panera staff even threw in an extra one! Her day was made and she had some good, healing food. It was such a success we ordered again today. Maybe its the afternoon shift or because it is later in the day but this place is dirty. Just YUCK. Overflowing trash. A lemon on the ground and an employee just walked past it and filled her cup at the soda machine. Must be break time. Tables and carpet, same story. Yuck. The guy that I ordered from was dirty looking. He kept picking at his hair and his gross beard. I didn't want to take my cup for tea from his hands. Almost all of the tables were dirty while the workers were unnecessarily standing around. One of the metal flippers for the lemonade fell on the floor and I watched the employee immediately put it right back on the dispenser. The restaurant smelled liked rotten eggs too. Great coffee, tea, lemonade and pastries! We thoroughly enjoyed their outdoor seating area, too. In addition, I have to give kudos to the manager! We were there around 5:30 PM yesterday (Sunday, September 10). I had my little travel purse ( instead of my very large usual one) and picked up my jacket, scarf and packages, but left my purse hanging on the back of my seat. When I went in to ask about it, the manager was walking around looking for me! Now, that's customer service! After a very difficult week (my mother died in Naples, FL last Monday and many family members are still there dealing with Irma), this man's integrity and kindness truly made a difference to my life. read more

How far we fall. I ordered a tuna salad on multi grain bread. What I received was whole wheat, the kind that comes off the shelf at the market in a plastic bag and lasts for weeks. It was not an artisan crusted whole grain bread. Was the kitchen out of artisan bread? They could have told me so I could order something else. The salad, it was not crisp lettuce. On the wilted side. At home you might put the leaves on a sandwich or in soup. Most likely not your salad. Paneras used to be excellent. Now it's not even mediocre. Really disappointed with the cleanliness of the restaurant. Almost every table had left over food on the surface. The bathroom had toilet paper all over the floor and the garbage cans were overflowing. Flies were very prevalent here which made it hard to enjoy the food. Panera has always been my favorite 'coffee shop' type spot. They have free wi-fi, plenty of seating, clean bathrooms, and a menu to satisfy any meal. I love the bagels with cream cheese for breakfast and their quiche is pretty good, too. Their 'you pick two' is great for lunch or dinner and my favorite combo is a Greek salad and tomato soup. Their 'buzzer' system for ordering food makes for a smooth pick up at the window when your order is 'up'! In addition to coffee, they have great teas and blended drinks as well. read more

This is about my experience with THIS Panera location, not about Panera overall (as it seems some Yelpers review that way...) This Panera location donated almost 100 bagels for a nonprofit breakfast. That in itself is a few stars - it's tough to find businesses in college towns that are going to donate to non-university organizations. We were there at 6:15 a.m. on a Friday morning. The staff was so flippin helpful - they triple checked to see how we wanted our bagels cut and even helped us carry our food to our car. This is the first time I've ever seen a young staff so chipper and willing to help so early in the a.m. ESPECIALLY since it was a donation. read more

Panera disappointed me today. Usually i go in to get soup and a sandwich or some other lunch or dinner item to eat in store, but I ran in on the way from my doctor this morning to get a cuppa and a bagel on the way to work. First they burned my bagel, then they just slapped it in a bag with a tub of cream cheese. I caught margie changing the trash without changing her gloves, then going back to working on peoples food, then i caught kim manhandling a dirty dish/clean dish cart, all while digging her hand into my bread bowl! I was disgusted. I told the manager and he didnt seem to care all that much. I feel sorry for all the people that still ate their food prepared by these people. Disappointed in this Panera. Usually I love panera, but today it was a mess. I ordered a you pick two with a sandwich and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese looked like it was sitting out for an hour and it was cold. My sandwich was put together sloppy and the dressing was all over the plate. The ladies behind me that got their food 10 minutes before me complained that their soup was messy all over their plate too. My boyfriends bread bowl was stale and the soup was not warm eithe . He didn't want to say anything so ate it. I asked if they could heat my cold mac and cheese but the guy said they can't do that, but I can microwave it myself. Otherwise he would have to go make me a new one (and he sounded annoyed) so I went and heated it. They charged me for the full meal, but gave me the you pick two size. This Panera is just like every other Panera. The food is good, if a bit overpriced, and the service is fast. I really like the half sandwich and half salad deal; the fuji salad dressing is something I can't get anywhere else but love to death. And of course their breads are amazing. I love getting an asiago bagel with cream cheese at Panera. I just wish lunch were a bit cheaper. read more

All Paneras are pretty much created equal, but one thing I've learned is that you MUST check your order before you leave (if you get take-out, that is). Instead of the yummy smokehouse turkey panini my friend ordered, he got a plain turkey sandwich. And we got shorted on the sides - missing potato chips. Of course the receipt was accurate and we paid for things we didn't get, somebody just screwed up. This seems to happen a lot at Panera with big orders. The food we DID get was pretty tasty as always - I especially love the broccoli cheddar soup. They have more fun options than ever now, and the You Pick Two is always a good deal (got a Greek Salad with Chicken alongside the soup, which was pretty good). I think the soups are almost always better than the salads here, just personal opinion. read more

Placed a Rapid Pickup order the night before needing food for my child the next day. The food was ready when I needed it, tasted good, and there were no issues. All-in-all I would say this is a normal Panera with plenty of parking. read more

I like Panera. We have been coming here for years. Slightly overpriced on many lunch items but decent food and good selections. But let's talk about service. They have been slacking. Thr For example, this morning. We had one gentleman ahead of us waiting for his food. He gets his food so we are next. I don't see anyone making our breakfast sandwich. They seemed to be busy chatting and preparing for lunch apparently. Finally the guy decides to start making it. What I really didn't like is the fact that they were waiting to make the breakfast sandwich before they could give me my smoothie and bagel. 13 min after placing our order we finally get our food, again, with no one ahead of us. My bagel is cold by that time. My smoothie melting/getting warm. If I wanted a cold bagel I wouldn't have had it toasted. Get it together Panera. Your new system is not working. Next time I'll be asking for a new warm bagel and a fresh smoothie. read more

Solid Panera location. Met a friend here on our way back to Ohio for a quick snack and a little bs. I ordered the broccoli soup, wife got a chocolate chip bagel, and our friend ordered french onion. Everyone enjoyed the food here and were very surprised on how busy this place was. That was until I realized how close to the school it was, lots and lots of pretty girls. My husband saw on the veterans site that Panera was giving a free breakfast sandwich to Veterans, so he went there and ordered one, and told the cashier about the free sandwich, he ordered other things also. Got his bill, was charged for sandwich, when he asked about it the cashier was very rude, and said they weren't doing it. About as incompetent of a staff as a chain could possibly have. Understaffed as well, but it wouldn't be that bad if they knew what they were doing. Don't expect to get coffee here; canisters are always either missing (especially dark roast) or run out halfway through your cup being full. Staff will lie to you about when you can expect refills. All this and you pay $2.00+ for self-serve. read more
