I usually don't review basic chains like Panera, but this one's different than the one we usually go to. For one it's an express Panera so there's no seating on the inside and it is very small with no designated parking. It also opens later than other Panera's at 7 AM. But the reason why I wanted to make this post because this location had a special coffee machine where it brewed your coffee freshly which I thought was really cool. You could also choose if you wanted iced coffee or hot coffee and if you wanted to leave room for milk. I thought this was a great alternative to the normal coffee station that Panera's had and it was a very clean and modern machine that I really enjoyed. read more

As part of the sips club, I come into Panera practically every day. I've lived in LA for years and always missed it because there weren't any branches anywhere. But now that several have FINALLY come to LA, I'm elated! The Hollywood one is right by where I work out, so I go before or after every workout. And they're always so friendly. They even know my name by now. And Christina the manager always asks about my day. And when I order a meal, it's somehow prepared and ready faster than most fast food places. And I don't even consider Panera Bread fast food because it's so good. It's just such a blessing to have all these locations up. I've walked my dog to the one on Vermont since it's so close to home. The locations on Selma in Hollywood and on Wilshire in Beverly Hills are close to where I work. And the one on Sunset always gets a visit from me where I go to Target. I was literally so excited to join the Sips Club back in July, I basically told everyone I knew who drinks coffee about it. A lot of us drink coffee almost every day. So why not pay the equivalent of 3 or 4 coffees monthly and get free coffees daily?! So yeah, these Panera Bread locations are exactly what I need, and I don't know what I'd do without them! Love that Panera now has a couple of Hollywood locations for when I'm in the area...this one's an "express" style location where you're expected to order, take the food/drinks and head out after. In other words, no seating inside. It's clean and everything's fresh, and the service is quick, whether ordered at the kiosk or in the app. I got the ciabatta dipper sandwich (pretty tasty!) We'll be back next time we come through Hollywood. read more

This Panera bread location just opened up less than a month ago, nice to have in the area. It's an express so I don't think they have their full menus and offers only take away with no seating. Food came quick and my sandwich was delicious. The in-house kettle chip type potato chips were quite good and nicely crunchy. Honest feedback from a hopeful customer I'm writing this review with the hope that honest feedback might be helpful in supporting Panera's continued success -- especially at the Hollywood location. I started coming here after a friend told me about the Unlimited Sip Club. The trial deal was incredible: just $3/month for unlimited coffee! Since McDonald's $0.99 iced coffee has become unreliable lately, I figured I'd give it a shot. After the trial, the price jumps to $14/month, which still seemed reasonable if the quality held up. Over the past couple of months, I've picked up iced coffee here regularly and have eaten a few meals as well. The Good: * The staff is generally friendly and welcoming. * Wait times are short. * The interior is clean and comfortable. * On my first visit, I met a man I believe to be the owner -- he was kind, personable, and spoke highly of Panera's commitment to quality ingredients, which I really appreciated. The Not-So-Great: While I love the idea of grabbing coffee here daily, the actual iced coffee setup leaves a lot to be desired. They use a slow-drip machine that brews each cup individually -- nice in theory, but the coffee comes out warm. It's meant to cool down as it hits the ice, but the reality is that the ice melts almost immediately, leaving you with a barely-chilled, watery drink. You can try adding more ice afterward, but then you're mostly drinking diluted coffee water. Unfortunately, it ends up on par with gas station iced coffee -- and I think Panera can definitely do better. Also worth mentioning: the straws are very thin and flimsy. I've broken two or three just trying to get them into the lid, and sometimes they collapse mid-sip, which is surprisingly frustrating. As for the food -- their tomato soup was solid, but the BLT was dry and just underwhelming. The cinnamon roll also missed the mark: dry and lacking flavor. I wouldn't order either again. Final Thoughts: I want this Panera to succeed. A cozy café-style option in Hollywood is a great idea. But based on my own experience, I worry that first-time customers might not return because of things like the coffee and food quality. Even just fixing the iced coffee -- maybe switching to a dispenser with properly chilled coffee like I've seen at other locations -- would make a huge difference. People are loyal to good coffee, especially in L.A.! Wishing this location the best and truly hoping to see some improvements. I'd love to remain a regular customer. read more

Saw a commercial on TV for Panera with the new seasonal options. Wanted to try the strawberry salad. Decided to do my evening walk from Franklin Village and head over there. It was quite the walk but really worth it. The service, cleanliness, and food were above average. I had ordered once after this on a delivery platform and some of the bakery items I wanted weren't available. I decided to call tonight to make sure they had what I wanted. A gentleman by the name of Luis answered and he went above and beyond. He let me know that one of the items I wanted was being cooked and would be ready by the time my order was to be picked up. When I went to order it, it wouldn't let me. So, I called him back and he answered the phone. He had me stay on the phone with him while he checked the app and he then said he'd refresh it. Once he did that, I was able to complete the order. I really appreciate his patience and also the fact he actually answered the phone. Most places won't answer their phones. I just wanted to commend him on his great customer service. This place is wonderful. I feel they will need a lot of patience and grace from their customers once school starts back, as they are right across from Hollywood High School.
