Rock hard Dozen & a Half Bagels
Gypsy G.

Stopped in early this morning to get bagels and spread.... A variety of bagels. I was... I was- looking forward to a delicious everything bagel.... Well all of them sounded good so got a few of each for everyone. Hard as a rock. The only ones not harder than were the Asiago ones. So money wasted- and thankfully no dentist visit cause no one is eating these.

Wilted lettuce and tomato

I order a Cobb Salad. Lettuce was not green and tomato wilted. No bread bowls for chili and then no bread to add on the side or bread loafs of any kind. Service was terrible. I've been to just about all the other ones in Louisville. Stay away from this one I would give 0 stars if I could.

Know how to keep a U of M grad busy for a few hours?
Rob F.

First, the REALLY good stuff: As we entered, a Panera employee who was evidently going on his break opened the door for us, gave us a big smile, and says "Welcome! Come in!" He also took a moment to talk with us and told us there must be something going on downtown because they were really slow. And, the good stuff: The place was clean, the food was good, and when we finally managed to place our order, it didn't take very long for the food to be ready. And now, the reason I'm bothering to write this review: When we walked to the counter we found signs that said the registers were closed and we should use a kiosk to order. As an Ohio State fan, I'm familiar with an old joke: You write "Want to know how to keep a University of Michigan graduate busy for a few hours? See other side" on both sides of a sheet of paper (for thouse U of M grads who might need an explanation, you read one side of the paper and follow its instructions to turn the paper over. Then, when you read that second side of the sheet of paper, you follow its instructions to turn the paper over. And there you are, turning the paper over again, and again, and again until, after a few hours, you think "ahhhhh! I get it!" and put down the sheet of paper). Someone at this Panera must be an OSU fan, because when we walked to the closest available kiosk, the display said there was a problem of some sort and we should go to the counter to place our order. I can just picture U of M grads walking back and forth between the counter and the kiosk, can't you? Anyhow, rather than walk back to the counter, we waited for some folks using a working kiosk to finish placing their order. And we waited. And we waited. Obviously, they were no more familiar with running a Panera kiosk than we were. I've never used a Panera kiosk before, and in the time it took me to enter an order of soup and sandwich for my dad, a drink for my dad, and an order of soup and sandwich for myself, those folks who ordered ahead of us had received their order and were just sitting down to eat. I would have given this Panera a 5 start rating for this visit if we'd been able to walk up to the counter and place our order. But, while I realize those kiosks never call in sick, don't go on vacation, and aren't payed overtime for working extra hours, I'd much rather see the money I spend go towards paying someone a wage than to buying kiosks.

I've eaten at a lot of Panera locations, some are great and some are average. This location fits squarely in the "average" category. To be more precise, it's probably more hit-or-miss than anything. For probably 20 years Panera has been our Sunday Lunch location, regardless of where we lived. It wasn't until we moved to Louisville that that habit started to change. That change was largely precipitated by the large number and variety of restaurants in the area. Second behind that is the service at the Panera Bread locations in the area. The food is usually good at this location, it tends to be the service (or lack thereof) that takes away from the experience. On one occasion we were given a pager after our order was placed. We go our drinks and sat down, waiting for the pager to go off. After about 20 minutes it hadn't gone off so I went to the delivery window to check on the food. Our order was sitting there. Our pager hadn't gone off, and they never called our name. I guess that's just what they do when no one responds to the pager. They let it sit until it gets cold. And that's exactly what happened. My Cuban sandwich and my wife's soup had gotten cold. When I asked the person behind the counter she asked if I wanted a fresh one. REALLY? NO, I'll take the cold one and my wife would lover her chicken and wild rice soup just at room temperature, thanks. *OF COURSE* I want fresh food! Did you really have to ask? It seemed to annoy the person behind the counter. I didn't care. It was this incident that kept us away from this location for the better part of a year. I'm also not a fan of the of the self-ordering stations they're trying to push customers toward. You've got staff, let them take the orders. (Likewise McDonald's and their order kiosks). But that's just me. This facility has always been clean and (aside from the incident above) the food has always been good. Service times often lack, but the staff (aside from the incident above) is usually pretty friendly and helpful. Is this the best Panera I've been in? No. Is this the worst Panera I've been in? No. (that distinction goes to the now-defunct Oxmoor location) Will I go back? Probably. The last couple visits have been pretty good, so I'm hoping so.

Green Goddess Smoothie

Green Goodness Greatness lol. I ordered the Mediterranean Bowl and the Green Passion smoothie (I had been wanting one all week!) Panera did not disappoint. Delicious as usual, thank you!!

Literally a fly in my sandwich, the lady that served me was nice but wtf.

They worked very well together. You could build your own salads, it comes with 2 Greens, 4 Fruits & Veggies, 1 Dressing, 1 Crunch. There are 19 different Salads, 19 wraps, 19 grain bowls, on their menu! One person would put the lettuces into the salad bowl and adds the protein (Chicken, Salmon, Shrimp, and Chicken Salad, and Smoked Pimento) The next step was to add more to the salad. The bowls were filled with so many items. Strawberries, cranberries, potato sticks, cheese, sunflower seeds, grapes, just about anything! They topped the salads with dressing or you could just get the dressing on the side. They had lots of sodas, juices, waters, and fountain drinks. The restaurant was really clean and they have children's meals. Grilled Cheese with apple slices. Kids Plates and Kids Bowls. The staff stayed busy the whole time we were in there, but the lines flowed quickly. The restaurant was low volume. It was really relaxing. Robyn

I ordered a build your own with kale + spinach as the base, artichoke hearts, broccoli, brussels sprouts, garlic roasted chicken, jalapeno, goat cheese, croutons, nutritional yeast, oregano, everything seasoning, and red pepper flakes through DoorDash. Nothing to complain about in particular and nothing to praise, but for almost $14.50 (almost $17 if you DoorDash not including fees) I expect more from food in general, especially in Louisville. It's a very healthy meal that left me wishing for more and also wishing that salads weren't so overpriced. Perhaps my opinion will change after trying a different order.

I love the salad dressings and instead of having it put on the bowl, I request 2-3 containers on the side. Overall the line moves quickly and each topping is a good portion. The colorful, fun signage actually made me feel more at ease, especially since "build-your-own" spots can feel a little overwhelming at first. I appreciated that they also had pre-made menu options for those of us who don't want to think too hard. I went with the Chicken Chipotle + Tortilla broth, and my boyfriend ordered a steak bowl, both were fresh, flavorful, and honestly hit the spot. Service: Smooth and welcoming Food: Fresh, healthy, and well-seasoned Environment: Clean, bright, and easy to navigate Now, the total came to $34.81, which is a bit on the pricier side, but in today's economy, that's becoming the norm. And for where I am in my health journey, being intentional about what I put into my body matters more than anything. For me, it was worth it. The Verdict: Worth it for a fresh, healthy option, especially when you want something quick but still aligned with your goals. If you're in the Louisville area, I'd definitely recommend checking out this spot, it's the only one here, and it delivers.

It is so packed full of flavor with the pepitas, golden raisins, bleu cheese and absolutely fantastic maple vinaigrette. It may be my new favorite salad! The She-Crab soup was piping hot and brimming with crab. My mom had the Muffuletta & Cajun fries-those fries are to die for! Their burgers are "chicken" burgers or veggie. The promotion of burgers is confusing and a little disappointing. Chicken tender combos come with fries, one side and drink. The chicken burger was also tenders but tossed on a bun with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayo. Several sauces are offered for dipping your chicken. The combo #1 was a good value. The tenders were hot and had enough peppering to make the flavor interesting. We enjoyed the fries, which reminded us of eating at school ballparks. Sides are small but offer a few bites and I liked the slaw (although it looked different than the menu image). My husband shared the green beans were peppery. My Fanta lacked flavor. The chicken burger was enjoyed by my son but since he didn't really want the toppings, he basically had the same meal as my combo #1 for more money and without the side. Service was helpful and polite. We appreciated them checking on us and being willing to offer recommendations. They have plenty of parking in a private lot and several tables inside. Cute decor. When walking in, the space didn't smell great -- likely a plumbing issue because it otherwise appeared very clean and organized. Drive thru also available. They place your order in a bag with your name on it at the door. You don't have to speak to anyone. Perfect! Walking up to this place feels like you're transported to another dimension. It doesn't feel like Louisville at all. The place was busy. Atmosphere was inviting. I could definitely hang out there while I eat. I'll try some more of their dishes but I do have a few things to note. The cost: It's downtown so an expectation of higher prices is expected. They do give you a decent portion size but with other options and the ultimate option of bringing your lunch with you, it's going to be hard for me to revisit this place in the future. I do hope I can give their breakfast a try if I'm down there early enough. Even with their breakfast, it better be DOUBLE GOOD because the PNC building has breakfast nearby and you can have an excellent breakfast there for 5-10 bucks. The food: Achiote Chicken Taco Bowl - White rice. Achiote Chicken Thigh. Diced tomato. Monterrey jack cheese. Sour Cream. Tortilla Chips. Avo smash. Cilantro. Charred pepper ranch. It was good but nothing really stuck out about it. Bites had flavor but eventually it turned into a bland dish. I ended up saving it for later time leftovers... but when trying to eat it later on in the day, it had that same bland taste that developed. I think the biggest issue with it was all the smashed avocado. It definitely didn't need so much. It ended up overpowering all the other flavors. It's a good spot to change it up from other options downtown but I can't rave about it until I come across my 'go-to' dish here at some point.
