The past 2 times I have visited Panera in Manitowoc I left disappointed. This Panera is a perfect example of poor management. The first visit I was left with only white bread as my bread option because of running out of their supply completely at 6PM. I am a big fan of this chain where this particular restaurant is a relatively new business in Manitowoc. It has the typical food and quality that you expect to see from this chain where this store has what appears to be a smaller selection of the typical baked goods you see in the bigger cities. The business itself is very clean and bright with a friendly staff. Its nice to have known good food options when traveling and this restaurant is a nice addition to the Manitowoc area. Another big plus of this particular Panera is its close proximity to Interstate 43 providing easy on and off dining option for those folks traveling or on the go. read more

My husband and I went for breakfast on a Friday morning. We each had a breakfast sandwich. and coffee. since we are older and not really big eaters anymore, the sandwiches were satisfying, except that they were a smaller sandwich on a large plate. I think they should put something else on the plate besides napkins, like a slice of fruit such as orange or watermelon. We have gone there for lunch a number of times, and are always satisfied. The service was good. The ambience was as expected. just underwhelmed. read more

This is what the new chicken sandwich looks like! So dry I had to constantly drink something to get it down and there is tiny bits of fried pickle that might make 1 whole pickle. Super dissatisfied! I've been here twice. I have to say the customer service at the drive-thru was very pleasant. I had a breakfast wrap, the one with maple bacon and it was good. The bread gets a little hard as it sits, but the flavor was very good. I believe I'd frequent Panera more often if it wasn't so expensive. The price is just not worth it to me. read more

The employees are so busy talking and looking at their phones that service is awful- coffee is empty, strup cane sugar dispenser is empty, no half & galf, no almond milk-- this is the norm for most Paneras i seem to visit. Get your act together please! read more

I originally wrote this review in February. O frabjous day, Manitowoc has its own Panera restaurant. This place is so new that it's not even on Google yet. First, getting to the place was a bit of a puzzle. The address is on Calumet; but there is no way to get into the parking lot from Calumet. One has to be driving south on County R, there is a turn off onto Frontage Road that's easy to miss. At this time Frontage is only plowed one lane wide. The place is shiny and brand new. The staff is very friendly but fairly inexperienced. Paneras use better ingredients than most corporate restaurants. There are good choices for vegetarians. One gripe, I was looking forward to some broccoli/cheddar soup; but Paneras puts chicken broth into a fine vegetarian choice. At least they are up front about it on the menu. But why? What marketing genius decided to unnecessarily make a soup off limits to a lot of people who would be attracted to this choice? However, we had the 10 veggie and the creamy tomato soups. Both were really good. We both had sandwiches. My grilled cheese was just okay. My wife liked her tuna salad quite a bit. Standing at the counter; and trying to figure out what to order is an ordeal. But now that we have been there and took a menu home to study it, we found a lot more choices that would be great in our future trips. Great coffee, nice selection of teas, and great looking bakery choices make this place a typical Panera restaurant. So glad they came to town. We will definitely be future patrons. read more

I was disappointed that it 9 AM on a Sunday morning The selection of bagels was very slim. The explanation being that the bagel bakers work overnight, and there's no replenishing of the low supply after that. Although I'm sure next week they will allow for the popularity of some of the flavors and make more. read more

We arrived at 8:20. The breakfast menu wasn't displayed yet so we had a hard time figuring out what the breakfast menu was until we pointed it out. The server was surprised and hadn't noticed the fact. The server was also unaware of the offerings and when we ordered a breakfast sandwich on an Asiago bagel she was not understanding the request. So the sandwich did NOT come on the correct bagel- just a brioche bun. The bacon was cold. We waited a long time for the cream and sugar to be brought out ( for our to-go coffee) because " the manager was refilling the cream from the prior day". At 8:30 am. Our to-go bag which included one yogurt and one hot oatmeal, among other things, also only contained ONE spoon. Which we discovered only after we left the restaurant. Were we expected to share the spoon? So how should I have felt about this visit to this Panera? Typically I love the chain- good quality and service. Been going to a Panera in our old neighborhood for years. Being a new resident to Manitowoc I was excited when they built this Panera but it's nothing like the other one. Visited twice now and the first time with my Daughter was okay. Today I placed an order for a couple of salads online and picked them up in the drive thru. Had to wait 10 minutes to get a receipt. First the girl wanted me to double check my bag. Guess she didn't believe I didn't have it. Then she said it was thrown out so I had to ask her to print another one. The Green Goddess Salad was okay, only a quarter of a hard boiled egg. The Caesar Salad one was only half full. Bread was overcooked and my husband almost chipped his tooth. Not sure if they are going to be around long in this small town unless they button things up. read more

Yes, the food is a bit pricey BUT, the employees are very friendly, the dining area and what I could see of the kitchen are immaculate! The food is delicious! I had the Turkey and Avocado and John had the Cuban and both sandwiches came with chips. The sandwiches were more filling than we expected. John's super picky about trying something new and he said he'd like to come back and try some of the other sandwiches. We will definitely be back. read more

Went to Panera for the 2nd time since it opened..ordered the broccoli n cheese soup in a bread bowl...it was delicious. Didnt have to wait long n the cashier was helpful n friendly. My friend had the 10 veggie soup n also stated it was very delicious. Went there at lunch time and got extremely busy..had 2 cashiers and a line of ppl waiting..so happy to have a business like this here in our city. read more

Food good. Staff support not so much. When u run a business you need alert people behind front of house counter. Fully trained and efficient, with expert knowledge of the cash register. Love Panera Bread! I get delivery often through a well-known vendor. Always fresh and delicious. My only reason for 4-star is that the breakfast Bacon, Egg & Cheese Brioche is rather small for paying almost 6.00. Same as the combo option - their half-sandwich had hardly any chicken and salad very tiny. However their other fare including baked goods/bread is fresh and wonderful. Love their Autumn Summer Soup, too. I'll remain a regular customer. read more

I so love this wonderful food. Due to my circumstances and lack of delivery options, I need to pay a vendor 6.99 plus tip to deliver it to me during Covid or I'd probably order it 3 times per week! The food arrived as expected - fresh, delicious, and such good quality. I just wish from my location that sometimes delivery is not offered but other times it is. I know this is a new location but you could train your workers better on how to make mixed coffees. The WORST coffee I ever had when it's usually my favorite. I ordered a frozen mocha coffee and they gave me iced which whatever not that big of a deal but it was straight black coffee with whip cream on top. No sweetness to it what so ever! OMG....ordered the chicken tortellini Alfredo and literally got 12-15 pieces of tortellini. Asked to speak to manager and she said sorry it's a pre packaged item. Whatever comes from the supplier is what u get. I said there is no chicken. She said there is 1 oz of chicken mixed into the Alfredo sauce. 1 oz!!!! Literally $1 per piece of tortellini. I placed an online order at 12:30pm of 28 dollars. I received the order 32 minutes later. The order was not mine and had 41 dollars worth of items in it. None of which were my order. I called the store, spoke to a manager they said they would get the right meal to me- 1.5 hours later nothing came. I drove to the store myself, even after the manger told me they would re deliver the order to me. I did not order curb side or in store pick up, I specifically ordered online delivery for a reason, considering I was at work and on company time and could not leave to get my lunch. I drove to the store during my shift per my managers permission and explained what happened to cashier- she said "I'll get a manager" she can't find one so she looks around and she hands me my cold order, which sat on the outgoing shelf for 1.5 at this point almost 2 hrs. I never got the delivery fee or tip back, my money back, a new hot meal made. Ridiculous. I am a very reasonable person, but there is no excuse for this considering my delivery destination was 4 mins away from the store AND the manager initially said they would get it to me and never came. I over paid and am not happy. I loved Panera, but I can't stand terrible service. read more
