Service was straightforward, just ordering, no seating. Order was done reasonably promptly and they had a lot of drink orders to go...

Takeout only. There are 3 kiosks to order and pay by credit card or debit card. No human interaction until your food is ready. Not extremely fast though it wasn't extremely slow. Considering when I went it was after lunch, and there were a handful of people ahead of me. The employee was clear in calling out orders and you pick up your order. I had the you pick two options: 1) Can't go wrong with chicken noodle soup. 2) The Fontega chicken, looked like a big smashed and a sliver of tomato. Normally there is a huge slice of tomato with red onions and basil. Guess the store ran out of ingredients when I ordered. Will try again next time.

    Take out, ONLY.

This new Panera location is very convenient. It is ONLY for pick-up and they have tablets, where you could place your order on site, as well. If you're going to frequently place orders, I would suggest downloading the Panera app. You'll receive rewards for online orders and your birthday. For this order, I had the Fuji Apple Salad, with chicken and avocado. The salad was large and came with lemon vinaigrette dressing. The order was nicely packaged and I was satisfied with every aspect of the online order. I recommend this new Panera and am certain that you will agree with my review.

Glad this East Midtown location opened up at Madison Ave between 40th & 41st St. It's near Bryant Park and Times Square. Midtown needed a Panera since the nearby 5th Ave location closed down. There's no seating at this location. It's order and pick up. Can order at the kiosk or on the app. Service is friendly. The coffee is good as usual. The breakfast sandwich is good also. Great add to this area.

This place is only for carry out or take out of the panera order. It doesn't look like you can place an order inside the restaurant, or at least I didn't try. I did all of mine by mobile ordering. There are employees who will assist you with finding your order. It goes by last name and your first initial. It's not very roomy inside, and there's no place to eat inside as well. If you're looking for a place to eat inside, this isn't the location. They do have utensils and napkins for you to take if you'd like. I got the value meal, which consisted of a soup & half sandwich for less than $10. It was a pretty good deal. Since I signed up for the first time, the app gave me a free cookie. I enjoyed the cookie as it was one of their specials. I'm not sure it I would return to this location, but I'll check out other paneras.

Standard Panera bread. Although it's a bit odd that they don't have anyone present to take your order, you'll place your order at the kiosk machine. Order fulfillment was quick, granted I only ordered soup and an apple. Overall, I would closer again.

Black Forest ham and Gouda melt - toasted baguette. Slightly chewy since it's toasted, I like the honey mustard flavor. Thin sandwich

The apples feel like they aren't real. Did you not have much taste which makes me a little nervous about the food!

Placed a rapid pick-up order for a grilled cheese sandwich and I got a BBQ chicken sandwich instead. The service here is also terrible.

Here's the rundown: - naan: recommend this, though maybe overhyped myself based on previous reviews. The yogurt sauce was delish, but the bread itself was very good but not mind blowing. - BLT salad: dark horse fav! Tons of flavor and I kept going back for more. Recommend as an app - Union Square bento: honestly, wish this came in a real bento box. Seems like a miss, but I suppose separate plates give you more volume. Good to add as a side to whatever else you get. Cabbage was the best of the trio. - rice bowl: squash and rice were solid, but the shrimp was the standout here! Very flavorful shrimp. Not sure how they packed so much flavor into the little bites of them - fried chicken thighs: I mean, yes. They're juicy. They're fried excellently. The side sauces are creative and great for vinegar-lovers like me I also got the carrot cocktail which was ultra smooth and had the right amount of dill flavor. We got two cookies to go which were divine. I'd get them to stay to try it with the oolong milk next time, but we had to run. The service was friendly, courteous. Ambiance was trendy but not uptight. Would recommend for a nicer night out

I ordered their fried chicken thighs because it's what they're known for, and I get it. You can tell the chicken was brined, and it had an excellent crunch. This is a restaurant I would also go to on a date or if I wanted to dress up and look nice with friends, but I'm still glad I went by myself.

The concept is similar to Chipotle, where you build your own meal by choosing a protein, grain, sauce, and toppings. I created a bowl with white rice, caramelized steak, broccoli, and pesto, and paired it with a strawberry mint lemonade. The portion size was enormous--I easily could have stretched it into three meals. Even better, the food tasted just as good as it looked. The pesto added a ton of flavor, and while I usually pair pesto with chicken, it worked surprisingly well with the caramelized steak. The strawberry mint lemonade was also refreshing and complemented the meal perfectly. My only criticism is the lack of seating. There are only a handful of stools and one small table, and every seat was occupied when we visited, so we had to take our food elsewhere to eat. If they had a bit more seating, the experience would have been even better. Overall, this was a delicious, healthy meal with generous portions, and I'd gladly stop by again the next time I'm in the area.

And it doesn't have that dead space on the 2nd floor where though there may have been a place for you to sit, didn't mean that you'd necessarily enjoyed yourself there: Chances were that'd you'd have to hear someone's conversation in person or on the phone, as if you were on the subway. None of that here now with 4, albeit generous, seats facing the window: The expectation now is that during the lunch rush, you're going straight back to your desk or, if it's nice outside, sit outside (so a great use of the car-free section of Broadway). I had the Hot Chicken Plate: It was the special for folks with the SG app so I thought, why not. I picked double quinoa, blackened chicken, sweet potato and everything else you can see in my photo. The warm quinoa and the chicken were fantastic: You know SG is making a play for Chipotle's customers by offering what's basically a rice base with a chicken and salad topping. I was not a fan of the spicy broccoli which I found too salty. If you overload your plate with toppings it will easily go over the Chipotle price point: You'll know what's happening now that you have to enter it all in yourself on one of 3 tablets at the counter that divides the public from the kitchen. Can't wait to see the lunch crowd at the new spot!
