I used to really love this location, which makes this review disappointing to write. I came in twice over two days, hoping my first experience back was a fluke. Unfortunately, it wasn't. The food simply doesn't seem to be the same caliber it once was. I also ordered a cappuccino that was served in an oversized cup and was so heavy and milky that it barely resembled a cappuccino. I ended up throwing it away. Most concerning was the atmosphere. Despite very few customers, service was slow, and a supervisor was loudly berating employees the entire time. The staff looked defeated and deflated. Culture starts with leadership, and the contrast between this location and other locations in the city--where employees are welcoming, smiling, and engaged--was impossible to miss. I really liked this nice little sandwich /coffee shop. The layout is more a self serve. You can decide between sandwich's, salads and more. I decided to get the chicken pesto sandwich . It was small but really good . I heated it up in the microwave and it was great. I also got their chai latte which I enjoyed a lot . But the highlight for me was the everything bagel pastry. Title: a 20.00 meal in midtown manhattan, for the Rats! I used to come in and get a tuna or mozzarella and basil sandwich with a yogurt and chips. Although the staff is friendly, being served cold (I mean ice cold) hot chocolate is a downer. Happily upon request that was fixed. To use the restroom you use a code found on your receipt to unlock the door. Thee are two doors, but the code only opens the one on the right. There is no sign on the left door to advise it's not available so you can enter your code and nothing happens, leading you to go back to the counter to ask about it, at which point you'll be advised only the right restroom is available. read more

They have a Pret on the East Coast and had no idea they even existed until I visited London this year. I tried to many different food from this restaurant that I would say they have plenty of variety for every person to enjoy. I would say the thing I do enjoy the most is their ready packed sandwiches. If you aren't too hungry they even have half a sandwich packed and ready for you to take to your office. Had the chicken noodle soup which tasted pretty good and really filling. If you want a pretty good lunch option this is the place to be. But what saddens me is if you go a little bit later after lunch the options are way limited to what to decide from. Had the wonderful hot chocolate and chocolate croissant. The hot chocolate is European style and is less sweet than the kind you get at most places, but is of excellent quality. While I prefer this type, my companion did not. The croissant was obviously made fresh this morning and the chocolate was still melted. I really get annoyed when I've ordered something online for pickup (I even downloaded the app) thinking I'm going to beat the line, and then I arrive and not only is there hardly anyone in the line, but they're also getting their orders before I am. My boyfriend bought me a tea from here when I was getting ready one morning and it tasted really good. I really like how they have honey in stock to sweeten beverages with. My peppermint tea tasted great and had the perfect level of sweetness after adding the honey to my drink. My boyfriend also ordered a coffee and be really enjoyed his drink. My favorite item on their menu is the Mediterranean Mezze Salad - it's so healthy, vibrant, and colorful. It consists of falafel, butternut squash, Beet Hummus (a gorgeous fuchsia color!), pomegranate seeds, beets, a mesclun base, harissa chickpeas (adds a nice spicy kick), mint, dukkah spice, and turmeric dressing to top it off! Eating it honestly brightens my day :) In addition, this meal contains enough protein to fill you up for the rest of the afternoon, with the generous portion of falafel and chickpea. For one measly BLT sandwich at $5.43 the exorbitant price highly compromise the size. The chicken with mozzarella sandwiches were all sold out as I love fresh mozzarella. Given the size of the sandwiches with the exorbitant price, I do not recommend Pret for dinner. This Pret a Manger does not have carry vitamin water but soda, which to my surprise and dismayal, organic implies "healthy." Carbonated drinks as soda certainly does not, in my opinion, fit the healthy category. Pret a Manger does not have any take-out menus or business cards to my dismay, I specifically requested a receipt to base this review on. I went to Pret and I always use my PRET APP to pay. They charged me two times for the sandwich and I did not notice till I got home. I sent their customer service an email to return my money for the second charge. They decided to give me a $10 credit Towards my next purchase. Pret a manager is a top notch experience. When you walk in you can see it is incredibly clean. All their products are on the right, and the options are immense. I was very impressed with the food, but i had to grab more than just the almond croissant to be satisfied. The five grain oatmeal was a splendid experience. Also, the tangerine juice was really good. We stayed at a hotel right around the corner so we visited often. Great place to grab a drink, pastry, sandwich or some fruit to head over to Bryant Park and enjoy the sights and sounds. The bottom line with Pret: as the name implies the food is ready to eat. There food is very good, reasonably priced, and extremely close to where I work. They also list critical nutrition information such as sodium and calories, which help me make better decisions. In that regard, unlike other establishments they actually have choices that are low sodium or lower in calories that are also tasty. Therefore, you don't just sit there feeling bad about the incredible number of calories you're going to consume simply by eating there. Finally, the food is very fresh and the staff are extremely nice and accommodating. On a trip to New York, we were going to try this for breakfast and brought our food up to the counter to pay. At first the girl behind the counter ignored us but after awhile that got awkward so she called for another employee to help. She yelled to him.--"There's a customer, I can't be helping them because I'm going to be off soon. Come up here." Really? He came up not really knowing what to do, he'd been sweeping up and evidently didn't serve customers. Awkward but we still wanted to buy our breakfast food. We said all the coffee was gone and asked him if there was any freshly brewed. But he didn't know about the coffee and called for someone in back. By now it was clear that Pret A Manger doesn't train their employees--customer service is not important. We gave up and left, then stopped at a nearby bakery, and what a difference. OH, the smell....the cookie, called a Harvest Cookie, tastes like nutty granola goodness with a hint of dried fruit. It was satisfying to the point where I was full. For breakfast, I usually opt for a yogurt (the plain yogurt, with honey and granola) and an organic egg salad with bacon on a baguette. It sounds good, right?
