This Panera's store manager, Alex, exemplifies atrocious leadership. I am bewildered that someone thought that putting this guy in charge of a team was in any way a good decision. I haven't visited a Panera in quite a while. Nevertheless, I've had a gift card in my wallet for over a year and decided to give this location a try despite the lackluster reviews. Upon entering the establishment, I was greeted warmly by the cashier, Latavia. She was beyond friendly when taking my order. I moved down to the serving area and received my food relatively quickly (it was 11:11 am). As I sat down to eat, I noticed that the Parmesan BLT salad I ordered contained no cheese. As I approached the counter, I overhear the manager alerting the team, "We received 15 bad reviews last month and we really need to focus on customer service." Ahhh. The irony... The manager, Alex, then turns to me and says, "What's up, boss?" Weird way to address a customer, but whatever. To each their own. I go on to explain the problem, "Hello. My parmesan BLT salad doesn't actually contain any parmesan cheese. Can I get a side of it?" He responds , "Unfortunately, we're out. Can I get some other cheese for you?" I reply, "You're out?" "Yeah. All I can tell you is I made about a thousand salads yesterday and we don't have any parmesan cheese." "But it's a PARMESAN salad. Why wouldn't someone have mentioned this when I ordered?" Immediately throwing his subordinate under the bus rather than taking ownership of the problem as the leader, he responds, "Yeah, I don't know why they did that." "I just think it's weird you'd sell me a salad advertising parmesan in the product title and then omit it." Without an iota of empathy, he replies, "I'm out of cheese. What do you want me to do about it?" Now, mind you. This is the STORE MANAGER. And mere seconds before this interaction, he was speaking to his team about the importance of customer service. This gentleman is clearly not cut out for managment, let alone running a store. Instead of leading by example, he made a fool of himself in front of his team. Way to command respect. At the end of the day, I can live without a sprinkle of shave parmesan. It's more about how Alex handled the situation. read more

Hello everyone, I love going to Panera it's one of my favorite places to eat at but usually I would go to the Summerville location. However I have gone to this location twice now and both times my salad's that I order, I have found hair inside of it. I've also notice that the woman working the kitchen is not wearing anything to avoid that happening too, which could be the reason. I think she's also the manager which is even worst. I love the food and it always tastes amazing but it's very disappointing that they don't put more effort into this sort of stuff and it's honestly not very higiene for a food place either. My work has used this Panera location twice in the past three months for live events we host at our former office. (I've worked from home since Covid). I like to support local and would never pick Panera on my own. The turkey sandwich I had yesterday and the roast beef (they call it a steak sandwich) I had last time are both very underwhelmed and flavorless. You have to cover it in mayo and mustard and salt and pepper to get any kind of taste. At least they do supply those things in the catering box! The order we picked up yesterday, one of the bags had spilled coffee all the way down the inside causing a whole row of boxes to be stuck together. Not impressive when you're trying to feed your visiting software partners. I've been spoiled with making myself and having local businesses making me so much better sandwiches that this is not the sandwich shop for me. read more

I love Panera Bread but this location is my least favorite. They never have bread bowls, no matter the time, and they actually would not accept cash one evening i came in, even thou they didn't close for another 45 minutes. Do not go there to study or do anything that requires concentration because the employees play around and goof off too much, making it loud and somewhat obnoxious !!! Thought we could get some nice breakfast delivered this morning, and since I hadn't had Panera in decades I decided to give them a try. What a disappointment! I ordered the 4 breakfast sandwich combo with a bacon, fresh egg, and cheese on brioche sandwich. The bacon was so thin you could read a newspaper through it, and the yolk was absent from the egg as well as the wrapper - it was nowhere to be found. The second sandwich was supposed to be a scrambled egg, sausage, and cheese but was another disappointing bacon version. The two ciabatta sandwiches, 1 scrambled egg and cheese, 1 bacon, scrambled egg, and cheese, were absolutely flavorless. Had I not been able to smell and taste my homebrewed coffee, I would have had to take a COVID-19 test because these items have zero taste. Overpriced, underseasoned as in totally lacking in any kind of flavor whatsoever, from the bread to the egg to the cheese, and even the paper-thin so-called bacon had no hint of salt, smoke, or any defining character at all. Where does one even get components of such a bland nature? The bear claw was fine, with flaky pastry and slivered almonds, but was the same you could purchase anywhere that sells such. I suspect strongly it is trucked in, not made fresh in-house. It kept breakfast from being a total loss, but didn't make up for the fact that I paid too much to not receive the items I ordered, and to find the items received so incredibly underwhelming. We got 2 sandwiches, and they didn't make one of them right. As a whole it was alright not bad not amazing.

I bought the unlimited coffee for the 1st time in years. I stopped in to try it. The coffee was burnt and not even hot, around lunch time. The creamer canister looked like it was sticky and dried up around the rim. The fountain juice in the back was very bitter tasting. I dId notice that they walk around with gloves on cleaning and wiping things. When ordering and handling money no gloves, and touching the cup without gloves after the transaction. The selection of pastries are nice, even though I think it would like better covered. Bathroom was clean. Customer service was good. read more

Placed an order through the App last night for pick-up this morning @ 7:10am. It wasn't much, 3ea bear claws & chocolate croissants (one of my coworkers has never had the latter!) a bagel and 2 caffe latte. Simple right? So I arrive about 10 min before opening and occupy myself by reading through some previous Yelp reviews. Frankly I was surprised at the low ratings and complaints...but I'll get to that. As always, I start every review with a 5-star rating and deductions come as they are achieved. I walked in to a pristinely clear store, and was greeted by Prea, a most pleasant and welcoming host. Since I was a few minutes early I decided to check out the tables and restroom that were frequently commented on in prior reviews. Bathroom was spotless and well stocked but the tables were sticky. My assessment is that the varnish on the table was softened and degraded by the cleanser they use, because I was the first person in that building other than staff. "Bing", my App says "Order Ready". FYI - Apps LIE. I approached the counter again, and Prea said she would check in the back. Upon her return she apologized and asked me what I ordered. I gave a brief description and she returned to the back to check again. (Ok, gotta pull a star.) Again, she returns empty handed, asks for the phone # associated with the order. Still couldn't find it so I drew it up on my phone. That did the trick, but it was way past 7:10. Prea scrambled to carefully prepare the pastries as someone in the back hustled with the Latte. I fully appreciate the efforts but those labor intensive Lattes must have really been a challenge for the 5 other employees (including Manager) because I wasn't able to get out with my completed order until 7:27. Needless to say, someone dropped the ball. Me, I dropped another star. Food was excellent as always, but presentation is half of that, and here was their rating downfall. Hats off to Prea though, she kept plugging away, picking up the slack and doing it with a smile. read more

Just stay away. Usually I'm a fan of Panera for quick lunches but this one is terrible. Ive had a few lackluster experiences here because its close to my work, but this one finally pushed me over the edge to give a one star review. Here are the bullet points. Bad cashier/ordering experience. There was one party ahead of me in line but between their pickup orders not being ready and the cashier letting several people behind me jump to the front for pickup, it took over 10 min for me to get a chance to order. I ordered a margarita flatbread and the basil was old and black. When there are only 3 ingredients on a dish its pretty noticeable when the basil is black. I tried several tables and they were ALL sticky or dirty. Another customer noticed me looking for a place to sit and said "yea, they are all sticky". This was before the lunch rush so no excuse there. The bathroom reminded me of a dive bar on a friday night. Sink broken with little more than a drip for water pressure, urine all over the floor. Great place for lunch when looking for salads, soups, sandwiches and more. This location is located right off Ashley Phosphate, and has an outdoor seating area. I personally like the salads, like the Fuji apple chicken salad. They also have seasonal salads that are pretty delicious, like the Ancient Grain Arugala chicken salad. Soups are tasty too...love the butternut squash soup, chicken & rice soup and even tomato soup. Then they have a large pastry case with too many goodies. This location is new, a little smaller in size than other locations. Service is good, with typical greets at the register. Nothing more though. Join their Panera Club and you'll earn points. read more

Came to this location for a lunch meeting. Inside is clean. The associate at the register was friendly. We both ordered the teriyaki chicken and broccoli bowl. My expectations weren't high but it turned out to be delicious. The portion was huge--I definitely couldn't eat the entire thing in one sitting. It came with chips which I didn't really care for. I love the presentation on the white plates. Getting out of the parking lot is a major hassle! I'm not sure I will return to this particular location. Knew I should've left! So, the Bacon Turkey Bravo comes with Turkey, bacon, Gouda, greens, tomatoes, a sauce, and tomato basil. Guess what I got? Just Turkey and cheese! I was already home at that point so luckily I had some tomato and greens to put on the sandwich. I will never come back to this location - I would drive to another Panera farther away than be subjected to this overpriced trash. When I say this is the worst Panera in the area that is not an exaggeration! Walked in and waited 15 mins for someone to come to the counter to take mine and 6 other people's orders. I can only guess they were waiting longer than me before I got there. Mind you there was some girl who stared at us the entire time as she wiped down the drink area but never acknowledged us. 2 people left and walked out and I was very close to following them. Finally another customer walked up to the rapid pick up area and flagged somebody down to help all of us. Oh it didn't get any better. The entire staff was just miserable. I understand finding people to work is tough nowadays but the one's who do show up are just there for the paycheck but will do the least work. Sold out of all soup at 5 in the afternoon. I don't know how this stuff happens but that's what you get for service in North Charleston. My advice is drive to a nicer part of town for food. Edit: is there anything less than 1 star? Drove 5 minutes home and had a cold fried chicken sandwich and an inedible turkey BLT. The lettuce and avocado on it were luke warm and mushy like they had sat out all day. Absolutely disgusting food. read more

My book club meets at this Panera monthly, and we always have a good experience here. It has pretty much the same food and atmosphere as other Panera's, but is always very clean and I have found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The book club settled on this location because it is typically on the quiet side and there is ample seating. This would also be a good place to study or get some work done! read more
