French onion soup with a roll at the side. The soup was lukewarm, so I sent it back
    Gail B.

I usually do not eat here. I only came because my cell phone carrier Verizon awarded me a $3 e-gift card from its Verizon Up rewards program. I showed the cashier the digital code and pin, which she carefully entered into the register. The slogan "It's Back" that is printed to the right of the item "French Onion soup" enticed me to order the selection. The soup came out disappointingly lukewarm. However, there was lots of visibly shredded "Gruyere" cheese and some crunchy and tasty Asiago croutons. The slice of "French" baguette was mediocre. I also wanted some hot broth, so an associate redid my order, this time with a change of side (an apple). The soup presentation was better with the melted cheese. However, I did not enjoy the cheese that Panera passes off as Gruyere. It tasted like a substitute. I prefer the French Onion soup that I tasted in Switzerland years ago after college graduation. I still savor the notoriously nutty Swiss Gruyere. Realistically, I could not get that here at Panera Bread. Nor could I get the homemade beef broth, truly caramelized onions and a flaky French baguette. The order came out to $3.51 including tax with the Verizon e-card. That was all the soup was worth!

    Very Small Asiago bagel

Tiny portions with huge prices. This morning I went for a bagel, the size of the bagel has gotten so small probably about 3 inches in diamete and for $2.00 was definitely not worth the price. If Panera keeps up its portion reduction while raising prices, they will be out of business. Never again will I eat at Panera bread. Also restaurant was dirty and crew members where just fooling around rather than working. A complete disappointment. Stay away from this one.

I love Panera bread! I typically go to the one in Northport but I was in the area so I went to this one. I got a chicken salad to go and it was okay!

I really love some Panera when your just so done with all the fast food restaurants and you really don't have time to cook. They make the amazing sandwich's. The bread is always very fresh and the meats are flavorful and juicy. I love love love the Mac and cheese... yummy delicious

Oh man this sandwich was delicious. The mix of flavors was great and the sandwich was nice and moist. It didn't fall apart when picked up which is a plus. Definitely recommend.

Really Panera, where is the meat? This is all bread and lettuce. This is what Im paying $12 a meal for? I think i get more meat in my subway sandwich. Used to like this place but the prices are out of control for what you get. You just leave hungry and I pay more here than any other fast food place around.

Overpriced Garbage. There is no way that the chicken is real. Guaranteed filler. Probably Subway levels of nearly fifty percent.

I cannot rave enough about this establishment ...The food is amazing, always so fresh and made-to-order! The sourdough bread is so incredibly crusty and delicious, coming from my favorite Portuguese place in Farmingville. My husband said the French onion soup was the best he's ever had....Not to overlook the ambience, which is so welcoming and relaxing. This truly adds a nice touch to the overall dining experience. Stace and her daughter Katherine add so much love and life to this beautiful restaurant. We celebrated my sister's milestone birthday there last September in a cozy private room upstairs. It was beyond spectacular from beginning to end. We continue to return to Sunflower Cafe and Bakery quite often, and always have such a pleasant and warm experience! They also offer a wonderful weekend brunch menu on Sunday's with truly creative and delicious entrées. I believe they are approaching their 3 year anniversary in November, and it's not surprising that they are able to thrive and grow in such a tough economic environment. Run, don't walk to this INCREDIBLE restaurant. It's always such an amazing time for us both. Desserts are also so scrumptious as well, with the option to take home treats from the small bakery area if desired! Thanks to the entire staff for always treating us like family...Cannot wait to return very soon.

I had to go to the UPS store (avoided rude unpleasant character in Shirley), and saw Howard's Cafe. Looked it up here, seemed great. Went in, and greeted by really NICE people! And they have GLUTEN-FREE rolls! Caryn came to seat me and take my order. She was the BEST! She didn't know if the turkey burgers had breadcrumbs, so I went with the grilled chicken. I also decided that I deserved bacon, so got the Mary, Mary topping--bacon, mushrooms, and sautéed onions. Entrees come with a salad, which arrived in a bowl topped by another bowl, with two things of dressing and croutons on the side. Caryn didn't think that I could have the croutons, and she was right. The salad was iceberg lettuce, which I hadn't had in YEARS, lol, with tomato and red onion. And a shaker of BAC-O's!! Oh my. Hadn't had those in 30 years. Very salty, which explains why. There was a choice of skinny fries (boo), steak fries, or sweet potato fries. I got the steak fries, which were wedges. Yum! The grilled chicken was yummy and generous, the bun was TOASTED (yay), and the toppings piled high. So good! A tad dry, but Caryn brought me some mayo. I forgot to order cheese. Ack. This is a nice place, with a bar filled with convivial locals, a cheerful bartender, and the marvelous Caryn. There are booths and tables. The iced tea came with two slices of lemon! I was SHOCKED when I got the bill. SHOCKED. It was $20.06 for a LOT of food and an iced tea! I took half the sandwich home because I couldn't finish it. I did finish all the salad--and Caryn asked if I would like more (declined)--and all the fries. Astonishing. What a great value!! That seems so rare these days. I had looked at the menus of a couple of other nearby places. Very glad that I chose this one. Sad that it's not near me, but I'll be back.
