I went for an early dinner, and there was almost no one there. The few leftover pastries had lost all their appeal. I've known for a while that Panera Bread was nothing like it started out to be, and for me, today was just another indicator of how far they've fallen. When first introduced, their Caprese sandwich was wonderful...piled high with fresh arugula, fresh sliced tomatoes, a good quantity of mozzarella cheese, and a tasty sauce. As you'll see in my photo, today's was a flat, dead-tasting thing. There's hardly any mozzarella, and it was topped with some beaten down arugula. Three tiny tomato slices were piled in a lump in one corner, and the sauce was non-existent. Before I left the parking lot, I realized the sandwich was dry and tasteless., so I went inside and asked some of the non-existent sauce. I requestedI their horseradish sauce that I knew would cut the blandness, but she bluntly said "No, you cannot have that," and handed me one tiny plastic thing, 1/2 as big as in days of yore, of whatever the dressing was supposed to be. That wasn't even enough for 1/2 the sandwich. And even though the place was mostly empty during my visit, no one had bothered to check the women's restroom in quite a while. The trash was overflowing, there was hair in the sink, and the water backed up in it. That's an appetite killer! For me, the cleanliness of the bathrooms in a restaurant is a good indicator of how clean the rest of the establishment probably is. Or isn't. read more

I don't think it's right you leave a bad review for 1 experience but this is the 3rd time at this location. I didn't think yo take pictures the first time but this time I did. The sandwich i got grossed me out so much i couldn't eat it. It was chicken salad. On one side the bread was so ripped up it wouldn't hold the salad so looked liked they squeezed it to make it stick. I thought i would just put in a bowl and eat it. The inner side of the other side had some brown crap all over it. If you think at this point i threw it away I did. Three strikes and your out. Since this was a takeout my husband asked if salt and pepper were in the bag. The guy never looked up just pointed. He then asked about silverware. Same thing....are we bothering you??? read more

This is the best Panera ever! I have been going here for several years and each time I am greeted warmly by the staff. The food is prepared by employees who try to do it right every time. I've observed how hard they work. In addition, I've noticed that if any customer needs extra assistance from an older adult who uses a walker to a mother with young children, they are there to offer assistance. The interesting thing is that I can tell the staff really cares about those they serve. I appreciate these qualities and want to write this review to acknowledge them and to thank the manager for setting the tone for his employees. read more

Each time I go to Panera's in Prairie Village, KS, I am greeted with a big-hearted smile from Pedro Gervacio. He is so friendly. He is like a breath of fresh air to start the day. Went to the 83rd Mission Road store. Ordered Cappuccino with whole milk. To9ld only 2%, skim, and almond milk. What's up with that. I bet I wont find another place that makes custom cofre wh doews not server with whole milk,. Everything on your menu is high calorie.GET THE WHOLE MILK!!! read more

We came here around 8 on a Saturday. They had an amazing selection of bagels and pastries! We ordered a bakers dozen of the homemade bagels. We had them bread sliced so they would be easier to grab for the baby shower we were throwing. The staff was really helpful and the bagels tasted great! read more

Worst Panera - horrible customer service Went to pay for our order tonight and the cashier said our gift card was empty, he tried the gift card again and got another error message, which I could see. He said the gift card was empty and I would need to pay with some other form of payment. I looked the gift card up on panerabread.com and it confirmed that we had used it once. It was a $25 gift card. The only charge was $11.44 and the remainding balance is $13.56. I called the store and asked for the manager. I was left on hold for 15 minutes. When I called back the gentleman said was the store manager but was hesitant to give his name. I explained the situation. He said it was a system glitch. He made a lot of excuses and was very rude. We will no longer go to this location. It has been bad for a long time. I have never had a bad experience at any other Panera. read more

If I could give this location zero stars I would. 15 on soup and a snack salad. Food made poorly and complained when asked to be remade. Wrong dressing after being remade (intentional?) Didn't ask about Panera loyalty number. No receipt. This location always slacks..no wonder there are no lines..every time I try and give this location a shot, it backfires and gives me more reason never to go to any of Panera's overpriced "cafés" ever again. For me, Paneras are just "ok". The food is acceptable at best but they're generally convenient and offer free wifi. This location, however, is pretty awesome - pretty much the friendliest Panera I've ever visited. I used them for both breakfast and lunch catering on the same day and was really impressed. Everything was prepared exactly as ordered (including a few special requests) and they included everything I needed in terms of plates, cups, etc. My one small nitpick would be that things could have been marked a little better as to what was what. That said, I got an email from their catering manager that day checking in to make sure everything was good and that I was happy. I do a lot of catering with Panera for business lunches and such and that's the first time that's ever happened. Also - the place was spotless, including the restrooms. (Not the norm at most Paneras) Overall - Panera is what it is in terms of food, but this location delivers an exceptional service experience. read more

Came here for lunch today; improved service (though they almost forgot my bread bowl! LOL) Just saw that Hy-Vee is now carrying their soup for sale, but since I can get a bread bowl here to go, I'll continue to visit the restaurant. Tip: If you like eating your soup in a bread bowl, get it to go. This way, they put the soup in it's own container, with the bread bowl separate!!! Then you can either pour the soup into the bowl, or dip the bread (tearing off chunks & dipping) until you're done. Either way, seems better this way, to me. :-) read more

My wife loves this place and I'm not sure why. The chicken and wild rice is really good. The Italian sandwich pick two with a Greek salad is an awful value. Thank you for the loaf of Italian bread, two slices of meat, deli thin cheese and thistle leaves. The salad is ok but again, the ingredients $$ don't add up to $$$$$$. Was in at 11am this morning and it looked like a high school lunch room. Lots of empty tables but had to search for a clean one. The soft drink and coffee stations were also a mess. read more

Stopped for a coffee & bagel snack in mid afternoon at midtown Kansas City Panera. Near empty house looked sad & aging with 70s look decor- badly needs update. Coffee urn dispensed COLD COFFEE & had to ask 'barely there' counter employee to heat it in MICROWAVE but it took TWO ATTEMPTS to heat to acceptable 'hot enough' temperature. (First was obviously barely warm!) Then got a dozen bagels to take home & counter idiot tried to slip in an ALREADY SLICED REJECT. Really thankful we didn't have to go back for the soup & sandwich dinner we wanted; can only imagine what that would have been like. Panera has fallen from consistent 4-5 star to 1. I really like their Mediterranean grain bowl with chicken. The people working there tonight acted like I was carrying the virus in with me and were, at best, aloof. The place was empty. I live within walking distance of this Panera, so it's become my family's new place to head after dinner to grab coffee/tea and dessert (which out 18-month typically eats most of). We've also been here for lunch and dinner too. The service here is always friendly. The pastries are always good and I love their soup. Everything else...just okay. During my morning breakfast stop, two large tables were already put together and a big group of retirement aged men, respectively, showed up with their coffee mugs as if they've been meeting here for years. Worst chicken salad sandwich I've ever had. Bread completely fell apart, and even though I paid for extra chicken salad I had only 3 bites of actual chicken. While visiting from out of town, it was decided to go to Panera to get a light lunch. This is a nice location - very big. It was a standard Panera - everything good and fresh, quick, clean. I gotta tell you I use to be a regular at this Panera. But lately things have gone way downhill there it seems. They got new management and ever since then the place has gone to hell in a bread-basket. We went in one Saturday for breakfast (we were one of the first people there). ALL of the tables were covered in a thick coat of dust. I swear they must be trying to save money by not changing their air filter. It was disgusting, makes you wonder how much dust you are eating? I went there again recently and was there until 8:15 (15 min after closing) when an employee came over the microphone and said he would have to ask everyone to leave as they were closed and for the safety of them and us we needed to leave. Safety? Whatever. This place is not what it use to be. The food is seriously lacking in quality lately as well.
