Planet Sub has been my go to favorite hot sub shop since I was a kid. I absolutely love "the experience" sub, it has grilled chicken, bacon, pepperoni, pepper jack cheese, jalapeños, cream cheese and a chipotle sauce. The bread is homemade daily and it shows because I've never had anything like it before. They offer two different sizes of sandwich which included the half which is about 8 inches and the whole which is about 16 inches. My eyes are always bigger than my stomach and I think I can eat a whole but I ended up with half a sandwich left. Keep that in mind when ordering. Overall this is a must try sandwich shop if you haven't been before.

One of my "Top Ten Sandwiches in KC" for sure! The hot subs at Planet sub are the only thing I'd need if I was stuck inside a yellow submarine. The ooey gooey cheesey carb masterpieces are always better ordered warm, the bread becomes roasty (is that even a word? who cares...) and toasty. The day I visited for lunch with my mom this local neighborhood Planet Sub had a list of "special subs" that caught our eye. My mom decided to be bold and try the Cuban in a sub sandwich form instead of the authentic panini pressed version. And I opted for a Pesto veggie heavy sub but added some protein power with complimentary white meat turkey. Once we received out piping hot tin-foil preserved subs to our table we were ready to fall in love at first bite. Mine had so much melty cheese I was instanly smitten and my mom's warm ham and Cuban classic white cheese made her heart melt. I loved the way the earthy pesto and zingy sundried tomatoes went with the turkey and hearty wheat bread I choose. The thing about Planet Subs menu which puts them above other local (*Mr Goodscents*) sub places is the sheer monstrosity of their menu, the options are overwhelming but in a good way. The creamy club is another favorite served all the time that both me and my mom routinely order. They also have added warm soups to their list of sub accompaniments and dare I say the baked potato rivals Paneras. When thinking of my favorite submarine sandwhich shop in the KC area and it's surrounding suburbs (there's one in Liberty!) only Planet Sub comes to mind, their hot takes on classic and creative sub sandwiches always hit the spot and never sink below sea-level.

This is my top choice for planet sub locations. The people are friendly, and food is always prepared well. We tried their new BBQ brisket sandwich and it was really good! We opted to add onion, bell pepper to my fiancé's half, and minus the cheese since he is lactose intolerant. Now, if I were to get it on my own I would say to keep the cheese and onion, add pickle, add extra sauce, and then you've got a fantastic sandwich! Some other suns we love: the meatball grinder, the pesto bello, the superhero. Definitely worth trying! And if you sign up for their email list, a lot of their emails are BOGO!

First timer. Went during a busy lunch time and was offered water while I waited. Nice touch. Staff making subs were working hard and keeping up with the crowd and hit the expected wait time. I got the Greek chicken wrap. It was completely filled. Good chicken to other ingredient ratio. The addition of dill was tasty. Just wish the olives were Greek olives. I'd pay more for that.

Awesome sandwiches like at all Planet Sub locations, but this one is my favorite of the ones I've been to because they have the best service. They tend to be understaffed, so there can be a bit of a wait, but it's worth it for fresh sandwiches. The staff is always polite and have smiles on their faces, and don't get annoyed when I switch stuff up (bacon mushroom melt with light lettuce, light mayo, no Swiss, double the provolone.) Love their outdoor seating area too.

When we told her it was our first visit to the restaurant, she took the time to carefully go over the menus with us (regular, happy hour, and drinks), providing her recommendations when we asked. Her guidance was spot-on-target! For drinks, I had a Mindful Chai and my friend had the 3-Beverage Flight (Golden Hour, Heart Says Thanks, and Tres Raices). My chai was the BEST I have ever tasted (and I order chai every chance I get!), and my friend loved her 3 drinks (she said Tres Raices was her favorite). For our food, we split an order of the Not Queso Dip and the Avocado Tostadas. We were both very impressed by how fresh the ingredients were, and the blend of flavors in each dish that created a unique and yummy taste. The Kitchen has an open, airy layout that inspires deep breathing, while the arrangement and spacing of tables still provides for intimacy of conversation and minimal ambient noise. Sofhia checked back with us several times during our meal to ensure we had everything we needed and were thoroughly enjoying our food and drink (we were!). It was a delightful meal, and we thank Sofhia, the kitchen staff, and everyone at Whole Harvest Kitchen for such a lovely time. We'll be back!!

We didn't sample, but next time I'd like to try a flight of their wellness drinks! The LETTUCE CRUNCH WRAPS (soy-glazed jicama & tofu, lentil, pickled veg, walnut, cilantro, sesame dip) were an absolute favorite. Highly recommended! The texture was very well balanced. Silky smooth butter lettuce and a delicious sauce on the side, although it truly didn't even need it. The AVOCADO TOSTADAS (blue corn tostada, guacamole, quinoa, white bean, radish, pickled red onion, super seed) were yummy, but our least favorite of the three. Instead of a thin layer of mashed avocados, I'd honestly just put a few nice slices of avocado for the bulk of it. Taste was lovely! It is a totally cold dish, fyi. The HARVEST WOK BOWL (split pea-fu, beluga lentil, farro, snap pea, greens, brown rice, daikon, cashew, ginger-scallion sauce) was completely phenomenal. I could do without the split pea-fu, but it probably added some great nutrition! The FLAVOR and texture of this dish was so so good. I can't even right now. (As my teenager would say...) Enjoy!!

Okay Modern Market, I see you…read more I was on the hunt for a healthy-ish spot for lunch (I mean, hello it is January), when I came upon Modern Market Eatery on Yelp. Upon doing some research I learned it's a scratch kitchen specializing in clean eats, and that it's a chain. A win for the health options, a ding for the chain, but not all chains are bad, an we are living in a time where there are some winners. So, I packed myself up and headed down the road to Prairie Village. It's still fairly new, and it has that squeaky clean feeling to it when you arrive. Inside it's counter service and you seat yourself (they will bring the food to you). It kind of reminded me of how Noodles and Company felt when they first became a thing way back in the early 2000s. I ordered a thai salad that came in at under 400 calories so I was honestly skeptical at how big or flavorful it would really be when it arrived, and holy cow was it good. The chicken was cold, but still held some flavor, the dressing was great, there were fresh veggies, pickled onions. It was one of the best 400 calorie meals I've had in a long time. My dad ordered the salmon curry and he also enjoyed his though I didn't try it so jury's out on my opinion! I left full and happy to have discovered this spot. I'll be back soon!

The sauce that was on my sandwich was different than the picture online. I did get my order through Uber Eats. The veggies were very fresh and crispy on the sandwich. The fire roasted veggies were not seasoned except for a bit of turmeric but it didn't really have a taste. Overall the food was good and very fresh but the price was a bit high.

Decent option for dinner…read more I stopped by earlier this week on my first night in town, and sat at the end of the bar. The bartender served me a Guinness (on tap, of course!) and then recommended the Monday Steak Night special ($60) - a prix fixe option which included a salad plus one of four types of steak, sides, and dessert. I opted for the house salad (with sherry vinaigrette dressing), the hangar steak (he was selling it hard!), sautéed green beans, and lemon meringue pie. The house salad was superb, with delicious chunks of goat cheese! I also enjoyed the sautéed green beans, loaded with sliced almonds and fresh garlic. The hangar steak was probably the most disappointing, and solely responsible for this review not earning 5 stars. I took half of it to go along with half of the green beans. The lemon meringue pie looked delicious but I could not eat another bite, so that also went into a to-go container. Back in my hotel room that night, working late as I was jet lagged, I ate that pie. OMG! PURE HEAVEN!! And the main reason this review earned 4 stars! Will be back for the salad and green beans and pie! And some Guinness on tap, of course!!

Overpriced chicken, a stellar mushroom side, and an aggressive exit strategy…read more After some custom cocktails nearby, our famished group headed to Rye for some dinner and dessert. The space was nice and clean, but unfortunately, the service and the "famous" main course didn't quite deliver a stellar performance. Our table was split--some wanted dinner, some wanted dessert. This apparently threw our waiter into a state of deep existential confusion. The Food: I ordered their "famous" fried chicken, customizing it to three thighs (which came with homemade pickles and a fantastic ham gravy). For $24, it wasn't bad, but it's definitely not "famous" for flavor--maybe just famous for the price tag. Honestly, I could have filled up at Popeyes for a fraction of the cost. Surprisingly, the absolute star of my meal was the side of sautéed mushrooms. It came with little pearl onions, shallots, and green peas. I topped it with some of my friend's arugula to make it fancy, and it was delicious. The Service (or lack thereof): Here's where it went downhill. The dessert order became a saga. Those who ordered sweets expected them to arrive with the mains, but we had to ask several times just to get them toward the end of the meal. By the end, our waiter seemed completely frustrated with our existence. He aggressively boxed up the remaining desserts and semi-forcefully shoved the credit card machine into our faces to shuffle us out the door. Great mushrooms, aggressive math at the end. Proceed with caution.
