It's been YEARS since we have been to a Planet Sub! We used to go years ago in Wichita. We moved to Las Vegas in 2011 and just moved back to the Midwest in April 2023. Planet Sub is one of my favorites for sandwiches and I always order the planet sub. I happened to be near this location so I decided to try it out. I was not disappointed. I was preparing to go to the Chiefs Super Bowl parade and wanted to pick something up to take with me. So the night before, I logged into my Planet Sub app and placed a pickup order. When I got there it was being finished up so it was definitely fresh and I didn't have to wait long. It went home and in the fridge. The next morning, into a backpack it went and off to the parade. Once we were at our rally spot, out came the sandwiches. They were huge. They're normally pretty large but this was one of the biggest I've had. I was thrilled. It was delicious and hit the spot after walking for miles. Surprisingly, it wasn't soggy after sitting overnight and enduring a hike. I would definitely recommend this location if you're nearby. Planet Sub has been my go to favorite hot sub shop since I was a kid. I absolutely love "the experience" sub, it has grilled chicken, bacon, pepperoni, pepper jack cheese, jalapeños, cream cheese and a chipotle sauce. The bread is homemade daily and it shows because I've never had anything like it before. They offer two different sizes of sandwich which included the half which is about 8 inches and the whole which is about 16 inches. My eyes are always bigger than my stomach and I think I can eat a whole but I ended up with half a sandwich left. Keep that in mind when ordering. One of my "Top Ten Sandwiches in KC" for sure! The hot subs at Planet sub are the only thing I'd need if I was stuck inside a yellow submarine. The ooey gooey cheesey carb masterpieces are always better ordered warm, the bread becomes roasty (is that even a word? who cares...) and toasty. The day I visited for lunch with my mom this local neighborhood Planet Sub had a list of "special subs" that caught our eye. My mom decided to be bold and try the Cuban in a sub sandwich form instead of the authentic panini pressed version. And I opted for a Pesto veggie heavy sub but added some protein power with complimentary white meat turkey. Once we received out piping hot tin-foil preserved subs to our table we were ready to fall in love at first bite. Mine had so much melty cheese I was instanly smitten and my mom's warm ham and Cuban classic white cheese made her heart melt. I loved the way the earthy pesto and zingy sundried tomatoes went with the turkey and hearty wheat bread I choose. The thing about Planet Subs menu which puts them above other local (*Mr Goodscents*) sub places is the sheer monstrosity of their menu, the options are overwhelming but in a good way. The creamy club is another favorite served all the time that both me and my mom routinely order. They also have added warm soups to their list of sub accompaniments and dare I say the baked potato rivals Paneras. When thinking of my favorite submarine sandwhich shop in the KC area and it's surrounding suburbs (there's one in Liberty!) only Planet Sub comes to mind, their hot takes on classic and creative sub sandwiches always hit the spot and never sink below sea-level. read more

The first thing you notice when you walk in the door is the smell of fresh baked bread. Come to find out they literally from scratch in this big giant mixer hand make their bread every single day. It's seriously like a mixer from the 1950s, which the employees will gladly tell you about if you ask. All the subs are made fresh to every single order and baked to complete deliciousness. They will literally explain to you how they cut their meat on a day-to-day basis of how much they're going to need and also how they cut their veggies every single day on a day-to-day needed basis. If they run out of a certain veggie, they simply cut more to accommodate whatever it is that you want on your sandwich. And trust me you can change anything and everything about a single sandwich that you want to, however, my recommendation is to always try the sandwich as is on your first visit. They know how to get it right... sometimes without your input. Try it the way it's listed first and then if you want to change something the next time that's cool however they have the recipes down ​to perfection! read more

Ordered a sub online. There was a place to leave a tip. I did not leave a tip. Came in to pick it up. And when I told the woman at the counter my name to get the sub she got it for me but made some snide comment about how they "made it for free" for me. Listen folks, if I'm standing up when I get my food I'm not tipping. And honestly this really pissed me off and it was obvious they made my order incorrectly. Hey planet sub pay your employees. This is my top choice for planet sub locations. The people are friendly, and food is always prepared well. We tried their new BBQ brisket sandwich and it was really good! We opted to add onion, bell pepper to my fiancé's half, and minus the cheese since he is lactose intolerant. Now, if I were to get it on my own I would say to keep the cheese and onion, add pickle, add extra sauce, and then you've got a fantastic sandwich! But he acted like I was doing him a disservice coming in more than an hour before close to feed my crew. We ordered after many huffs and puffs, got our drinks to wait for food. Then to my biggest SHOCK I go to wash my hands and there is a giant roach hanging out by the bathroom. I confused this thing for a cricket but to be sure I had my son get his dad and it was confirmed that what was before me was no cricket but a roach ! When we told the on duty manager about it he said oh sorry and acted like us asking for a refund was so beyond them. I find it rude that you treat my family like a burden and then when I see that, still choosing to not handle things well. Awesome sandwiches like at all Planet Sub locations, but this one is my favorite of the ones I've been to because they have the best service. They tend to be understaffed, so there can be a bit of a wait, but it's worth it for fresh sandwiches. The staff is always polite and have smiles on their faces, and don't get annoyed when I switch stuff up (bacon mushroom melt with light lettuce, light mayo, no Swiss, double the provolone.) Drive in for a quick bite. Craving for a sandwich with sprouts. Cashier didn't seem to know if they had any with them. I attempted to order one with sprouts, he asked if I wanted lettuce added since they didn't have sprouts. I noticed a few menu items with sprouts so....why put irbid the description of you don't have them? I got the Mediterranean chicken wrap instead. It was very tasty and warm! It was not a disappointment. Plenty of chicken and just the right amount of vingarette dressing. Only suggestion to make it better is it should have kalamata olives instead of black olives. There are lots of chain sub places that boast there quick subs or their toasted subs, but Planet Sub has the market cornered on both and they're not even a national chain! Planet sub has cold subs just like any other place, but I've never had one because their hot subs are phenomenal. You walk in, peruse the menu and place your order at the counter. The cashier will then give you a playing card and a cup if you bought a drink, you will then find a seat and wait. Another employee will come out of the kitchen with your sub wrapped in tin foil and yell out the card "Ace of Hearts!" If that is your card- then that is your sub. Once you receive the warm metal-wrapped bundle of flavors and temporary happiness, you proceed to undress (the tin foil) and dig in! I recommend the "Creamy Club," you won't be disappointed. read more

I have repeatedly received skimpy sandwich toppings at this locations. I went this past Sunday and it was really not acceptable. I ordered the Meatless Masterpiece, and while the number of black olives was fine, there were only 5 small mushroom slices and 2 green pepper slices. And parts of the bread were totally dry with no cheese or any topping. I opened the sandwich up and showed it to the young man at the counter and his response was "I feel ya. Do you want me to make you a new one?" I guess that was reasonable handling, but we were trying to be in and out quick before a movie and didn't have time. What would be better is to make me a decent sandwich in the first place. I think the franchise police need to start auditing this location, because they are giving planet sub a bad name. read more

I love the bread that they bake homemade at Planet Sub, it's a yummy honey whole wheat that makes their toasted subs something to write a Yelp review about! I'm not usually a sandwich girl, but Planet Sub had me at "fresh baked 'Abso-freakin'-lutely' delicious bread, that is baked fresh daily." On our most recent visit, I stayed true to the value and got the turkey sub; always a satisfying lunch (especially on a Tuesday!). My daughter couldn't resist my favorite, the Pesto Bella (with chicken). This sub is amazing, always, regardless of which meat you choose (you can choose up to two). I have found that whatever location you visit, they consistently deliver delicious, fresh subs, courteous service and a great value. I absolutely love this place.it started out as Yellow Sub for KU student and it mostly expanded north. it is very family friendly and has good service. When you get there, on the left and the right there is a bar area and in front of you there are many chairs and tables. If you keep walking straight, on the left there will be booths. You can order you sandwich and they will hand you a playing card. You can get your drink and chips (if you got them) and sit down. When a worker comes to your table you hand them your playing card and they hand you your sandwhiches. now, the sandwhiches are always good there. They are always warm and delicious. read more
