Poblano soup and half chicken sandwich.

Very nice chicken salad concept restaurant, which apparently has been around since 2008 with over 270 locations, and we finally got one here in L.S. My husband and I came here for lunch yesterday, and we're pleasantly pleased with the menu and what they offer. I noticed as we walked in that they have a self serve area for prepackaged salads to take home. I picked up the Jazzy Julie to make sandwiches at home. For lunch here, we had the Fancy Nancy chicken salad melt and it was tasty, and went well with the spicy chicken poblano soup, which was very good. I love the unique girl names for each of their salads. If you believe this restaurant has just plain chicken salad you'd be mistaken. I thought this, until we tried it. Additionally, these salads are low in calories, a very healthy thing.

The new Greek Goddess chicken salad is amazing! Pre-ordering and meeting staff at the to go desk is quick and easy. Store is always clean and decorated so cute! I love the quick grab n go cooler for those times when you need to quickly grab lunch or dinner. I bought 2 large containers and 3rd was free with the Holiday Giving Card. Double punch days are announced ahead of time and what a quick and easy way to rack up the rewards in the app.

There's a first time for everything!! I loved my first try of Chicken Salad Chick. Upon walking in and making it to the counter, I was revived with the warmest welcome. I told the cashier that it was my first time and I swear her eyes lit up with excitement. My first question was to ask her recommendation for a person who likes the regular way of making chicken salad and she recommended Classic Carol. Now because I had been browsing the menu online, I knew i wanted to try the chicken melt. So that's what I ordered. Chicken Melt with classic Carol and the grape salad. OMG !! The Classic Carol was delicious. I will say that the croissant was toasted. After a couple bites I found myself eating just the chicken salad, so for next time I may do without the bread. Not that it was a bad thing, but the chicken salad and melted provolone on top just didn't need a toasted bun. The grape salad was good, kind of refreshing to balance out the flavor of the chicken salad. I was very impressed and will definitely be back to try atleast a couple other flavors. Side note: There is a small area of patio seating right before you walk into the restaurant, but also plenty of seating inside as well. Way to go, Chicken Salad Chick

My wife discovered this franchise when she was visiting her home state of Arkansas and she brought back several different kinds of chicken salad for us to try. She was convinced we were gonna open a franchise! Someone else in Lee's Summit beat us to it. This place is magnificent! My wife waited here on opening day in line to get a monthly treat for the first year they are open. We came for lunch on tax day and shared a Chicken Salad Melt with Dixie Chick. It's the only chicken salad with onions. It's great on a sandwich. We got a scoop of Fancy Nancy on the side with some crackers. We love the one with the green grapes. We also got a large Fruity Fran to take home. The interior is very well kept and super cute. With staff members like Jonathan making sure you have everything you need. What a great place for a healthy lunch and tasty food every time. If you like chicken, you just HAVE to come here!

Upon entrance, it's bright and cheerful atmosphere. Cute seating area. Order at the counter. Service was prompted. They bring the food out to your table. Price reasonable. For about $10, you get a gourmet meal. Chicken salad can be served as a sandwich or with crackers. Add in a side salad or soup. The tray comes out with pickles and also iced cookie for dessert. Ideal place for a quick lunch.

What a delight I had visiting Chicken Salad Chick.

What a delight I had visiting Chicken Salad Chick. I had the triple scoop with their various versions of chicken salad. I tried the Classic, Dixie Chick, and the Lynne. All three scoops were amazing. The scoops were pleasing to the eyes on a bed of lettuce, and they gave you the right amount of toll house crackers. The ice maker makes the perfect size cubes for ice eaters, and it rivals Sonic beverages-mini cubes I am going to come back and try the rest of the menu. I look forward to trying the dillicious diva and the soup menu. Lastly ,chicken salad chicken gives each customer a packaged sugar cookie, which brings your expectations over the top. Next visit, I will get a dozen sugar cookies. During my first visit, I purchased a slice of cake, which I will tear up with a scoop of ice cream at home.

Who this is what was missing from my life? I stopped by to pick up 2 different chicken salads and of course the white chocolate cake. I picked up Olivia's old south and fruity Fran. The Olivia's was a good traditional chicken salads though I felt it had more relish than other chicken salads I have had before. The fruity Fran lives up to its name being a fruity chicken salad. The white chocolate cake was out of this world. Highly recommend this place, looking forward to trying the other flavors, and definitely don't forget the cake.

I've been waiting over a year for this to come to MO and I wasn't disappointed! I absolutely love chicken salad and tried the lemon basil and buffalo barclay first - both were 10/10. The next order I really enjoyed the Cranberry as well, the kickin Kay Lynn is HOT! I prefer the chicken salad with crackers more than with the bread or croissant. I will say I really didn't enjoy the pimento blt and won't be getting that again but the grape and pasta salad were both delicious additions to the chicken salad. Will keep coming back until we try them all! Not a fan of Uber eats but until they're on DoorDash it's the only way to get delicious chicken salad to my door :)

We were fortunate enough to go to the soft opening, and WOW was it good! I've been to this restaurant in Tulsa and was so excited to see it opening in KC. It's such a great, fresh lunch (and dinner) spot, with amazing service from the owners and friendly staff. Lauryn's lemon basil chicken salad is my absolute favorite. 2 scoops of that with a side of fruit (and the small sugar cookie that comes with the meal), and I'm a happy camper!

I was so excited to try the food, I spent many years eating at little cafes that served the best chicken salad and sweet tea! Today having lunch there brought back sweet memories! The chicken salad is so good. They off white wheat and croissants for the sandwiches. They give you plenty of crackers also. They remind me club crackers but better not as oily. The tea is not Southern sweet but still nice. It's nice they have lemon slices. The soup was good was season well. The girl behind the counter said I have to warn you it hot. Haha not hot just seasoned. The staff is new and so helpful it was exciting to see they had a line to the door. The interior remind me of a southern lunch cafe. I can't wait to bring my mom.

I could describe every experience with this restaurant but I'll leave you with the previous few. And I know what you're thinking, if the food was so bad, why do you keep going back? Well, hope and optimism. Rooting for Roots! We want the local place to succeed, but we've come to the conclusion that what they really need in order to improve, is honest feedback. But part of me hopes that it changes nothing. And here's why... my wife and I love this place. But in a weird way... allow me to explain, imagine the place as a Saturday Night Live sketch where the staff, the menu and ambiance are unapologetically pretentious, but the food doesn't deliver on any level. It's pure entertainment. We have dinner and an inside joke. First of all, for the price, you naturally expect elevated dishes and excellent service. We both had a cocktail, a glass of wine with dinner, an appetizer, entrees, salad and desert. Around $250 with tip. Pricey, but reasonable if the place delivers. On one visit we had the duck, which was served undercooked and when we mentioned it to the waiter, she scoffed, "that's the way it's supposed to be served." So feeling duly chastised for our ignorance, we shut up and ate the duck. I don't know the organism involved, but my wife and I were up all night vying for access to the bathroom. Enough said. Things were dicey, but no trips to the hospital. Six months or so had passed and finally, last night we rolled the dice and tried Roots again. My wife said her dinner was fine. She had stuffed salmon, adequate, but not great. For me, It was between the steak and the pork belly. Now I had the steak before once and it was... well it was definitely a steak. I'm not going to say much about it except for this... if you like the taste of a good glass of water, order the steak. So having experienced the steak already, I ordered the pork belly, which is an extremely tasty and forgiving cut of meat in my experience. But somehow at Roots, they figured out how to prepare it poorly. Yikes! It was dry as a bone, but only in the places where it wasn't tough as shoe leather. It had to have sounded like a rock when it hit the plate. The naturally rich flavor was cooked completely out of it, and any surviving seasonings were successfully burned away during the cremation process. I was starving so I made a valiant effort at finishing it, but it took several glasses of water and an inordinate amount of chewing. My wife laughed at me the whole time. I offered her a bite but she demurred, quipping that it had been a long week and she simply didn't have the energy. It was served with a "slaw" that consisted primarily of a plain sliced onion and slices of flavorless apple devoid of seasoning or dressing. I honestly don't know how this dish made it out of the kitchen, let alone a chef's imagination. It has become a quest for my wife and me. Like the holy grail of dining experiences, only a few minutes from our home. Ever the optimists, we will just keep trying Roots again every six months or so and hope for better on each trip... or not. If you're looking for a unique dining experience, please try Roots. We want them to succeed so we can keep coming back and having these comically terrible experiences. If pretentious irony is your spirit animal, please try roots. And Roots, please keep trying. We will keep spending $250 bucks for "dinner" and a show. PS, to add to your experience, ask for a booth when you arrive for your reservation, they will look you up and down and politely say "no" as they walk you past 4 empty booths. No explanation...

Roots Seasonal Cuisine is one of my favorite spots in Lee's Summit, and my latest happy hour visit…read morereminded me exactly why. I stopped in with my girlfriend Lisa, who loves this place so much they basically have a little corner reserved for her. She likes to work from there because the Wi-Fi is good, the vibe is comfortable, and the food is consistently amazing. We sat at the bar, had a couple glasses of wine, and Austin took great care of us. Lisa had the steak special, which was the ribeye, and I had the salmon. Both were really, really great. The salmon was cooked beautifully and the whole meal was exactly why I keep coming back. One small callout: there was a $3 difference between what the salmon was listed for on the menu and what I was charged. I let Austin know so they could catch it for future guests. It did not change my overall experience, but I appreciated being able to mention it. Brandon, one of the co-owners, is amazing. He came out and spoke with us, and that personal touch is part of what makes Roots feel special. You can tell they care about the food, the service, and the people who come in. Their happy hour is amazing, and their seasonal menu changes are superb. I love coming in and trying different things. The salmon tacos are delicious, the birria fries are a must, and I always look forward to seeing what new crostini they are featuring since those change every few months. Roots is consistent without being boring. Great food, great service, great drinks, and a menu that keeps giving you a reason to come back. Can't wait to come back. See y'all next week.

Service - so this was the first point of failure. Our waitress was attentive, but very loud. Additionally, she kept saying "perfect" to every response we had. Even the negative ones. I can't blame her, but some coaching is needed. Too many of our interactions were of the "hit and run" variety. She's programmed for certain questions and follow up, but doesn't really process the responses. Continuing on with the service, there were two of us, both ordering from the restaurant week menu. Well, one entree comes, not the app, nor the 2nd entree. This was delivered by what I assume was a manager (how he was dressed). No questioning about why he'd deliver one entree to a table with 2 people, so I had to ask about the rest and he was walking away. Again, a "hit and run" interaction. We did eventually get the app and other entree. Food - so we got the salmon dip app, two of the meatloaf burgers and the beignets dessert. The salmon dip was ok. Not especially flavorful, but not terrible. The pita with it was not good. It was overcooked as greasy tasting so it distracted from the dip. The burgers were mixed. I liked mine. It was flavorful, and juicy. My partner did not like hers. I chalk this up to personal preference, so would give this 4 stars on its own. The beignets. Wow, these were, in a word, awful. First, they were not as described as there was supposed to be some sort of fruit dip with it and it was missing. What we got was greasy blobs of cooked dough. These heavy, flavorless things were nothing like actual beignets. They were drizzled with this cheap chocolate syrup and this white, maybe vanilla stuff. This was a miss all around by this location. Hopefully a one off, but they've been around long enough that these issues should happen.
