While running errands on the far side of our valley, we found ourselves in Prescott and really hungry. Since we had been shopping right around the corner, we decided to give Panera Bread a try. It's a newer building, nicely maintained. The interior decor was nice and featured some upscale electronics in the form of a "kiosk" so you could remotely place your order from several stations - not unlike making jukebox selections of your favorite records back in the day. The menu was a bit upscale as well. All manner of the newest sandwiches on myriad flatbread, panini, sourdough or traditional bread types. Upscale prices too. But no matter.... Their motto is "food as it should be". I don't mind paying for quality. I ordered up their half of a steak and white cheddar panini with a classic salad, thousand island dressing, and water. My wife ordered the half turkey and avocado sandwich with chicken noodle soup and a Pepsi. We also choose the included small bag of potato chips and we decided to split a sweet roll. After paying we were given the electronic "tracker" to place on our table, and when completed, the order would be brought out to us wherever we were seated. A few moments later a server appeared with our meals. My classic salad did not nearly resemble pictures I had seen. It was more like a cheap 99 cent dinner salad at one of those all-you-can-eat places. And it was drenched in a basalmic dressing that tasted like raspberry pancake syrup. I flagged down the server and asked him to bring me the salad I ordered - Thousand Island. He said he would bring me some thousand island in a small side dish. I had to tell him no, my salad was drenched in this other stuff. He scurried off to fix me another. He then returned without a salad and told me this type of salad doesn't taste good with thousand island, so I couldn't have that. I told him to give me a refund then. Eventually the manager appeared and provided the requested refund. My half panini was okay, but nothing special - could have gotten something similar at Arby's a heck of a lot cheaper. Taste would be about the same. My wife's turkey and avocado was also okay but the soup tasted like something out of a can. The sweet roll was good, but a bit dry on the outside. Like I said, I don't mind paying for quality food as long as I get it. This was not. Food as it should be? No way. Not even close. It's a nice enough place, with nice enough people, but $22 for two HALF sandwiches with small sides is way to much for the quality they serve. We went last night (for the first time) for a cup of coffee and to satisfy a craving for a sweet pastry. The place was nearly empty, only one other table was occupied. Dining room was quite clean and comfortable. The cashier was very friendly, and offered advice on what to get as well as special pricing currently offered. Ordered decaf coffee, which was not out at their large coffee pots. The cashier said she would brew a pot. This was the first negative, as I find that most coffee drinkers prefer a decaf in the evenings to prevent a poor night's sleep. My husband ordered a cherry danish, which he said was "okay". I tried it, and compared to my pastry (discussed later) it was great. But, in reality, on its own, the cherry pastry was good, but nothing special. I ordered a cinnamon roll. It was quite large and looked very tasty. It was served on a ceramic place, as was the cherry danish. We took our dishes, and empty coffee cups (waiting for the decaf) to a table. I picked up the cinnamon roll and it was hard as a brick, and felt exceedingly dry. I pulled a piece off and it broke into tiny little dust-like crumbs, like the kind of dried bread crumbs one would buy in a package at the grocery store. I took the roll to the front, where they have a microwave, and heated it for 15 seconds. This softened the roll SLIGHTLY, but it was still incredibly dry. I had to pull of the first 2 "swirls" of the bread to get to the center of the roll where it was not so dry that it was inedible. That middle part was actually not bad tasting. But about 2/3 of the roll was as dry as the desert. The decaf was finally ready about 15 minutes into our time at the table. We also purchased 2 bagels for the next morning. When we felt our rock-hard bagels, we were again disappointed. We buy Einstein's bagels in the afternoon for the next day's breakfast, and have never had one so hard and dry as these from Panera. We microwaved them for 20 seconds,and they were edible, but definitely not anywhere near as good as Einstein's bagels (or any of the grocery store bakery bagels, either). Why do they offer Rapid Pickup? Placed and paid an order a day in advance went to do rapid pick up and no food. They would not take the order number...why do I have one then? I had to prove every detail but then 15 minutes into it they found the order...wow my special holiday breakfast for my managers is now delayed. HORRIBLE curbside experience! I ordered lunch for my family at 1:20 this afternoon and picked it up at 1:45pm. When my order was brought out curbside, the drinks were given to me in a very flimsy cup carrier and I ended up with the two drinks upside down in my lap. While on the way home, I called the manager and asked for a refund on the drinks. I was told that I would have to give her my card number again - while driving and covered in tea. When I arrived home, I had to completely change clothes and then unpacked the order to find out that one of the items was left out of the order. I called again and asked for someone to deliver the missing item to my home (delivery is listed as an option for this location) but was told they did not have a delivery driver. I had to drive back and pick up the missing item. When I arrived, it was not ready for me and the manager then acted like they did not know what I was talking about. I asked for the GM to call me and was told that would not be possible until they were back at work in two days. Avoid this location!! Ironically my mother and I were talking in the vehicle before the food was delivered about how this location was nice when they first opened, but had gone downhill over the last two years. The food: Ordered the Mediterranean vegetable sandwich. It was extremely skimpy. The only veggies were: small piece of lettuce, really skinny slice of tomato.... 2 rings of red onion and about a teaspoon of chopped red pepper. No cheese, no other veggies. The bread was pretty dry. The service: although there was a greeter, she did not tell us that if we had ordered at the kiosk we would have gotten a free cookie. She was helpful and professional over the phone and went above & beyond by volunteering to also cut the bread bowls for us so our guests could easily serve their soup. Meals are a bit a la carte for the price, and order staff doesn't have knowledge of what is in what, but food was fresh and tasty. Empty tables and seats were cleared but not well cleaned. They were pleasantly flexible by giving kids grilled cheese with bagel as substitute. They have Apple Pay. read more

I've been to panera locations all over the country and I love them. However, this location is lacking. I've mostly gotten to-go from their drive thru but I've also eaten in. They put less meat on the sandwiches than all the other locations I've been to, to get the same amount as the others you have to pay for "extra" I've gotten bread bowls for soup and everywhere else, I get enough soup to fill the bread bowl, here I only get enough for half, the cup they put the soup in isn't even full. Their customer service is wonderful, but their serving sizes need to be adjusted to match the other locations across the country. I refuse to pay extra for the amount of food that is supposed to be there. read more

A very nice location up on a hill, you can't beat the view. The interior is very nice. They have branch seats , tables and out door seating. Today I had the BBQ chicken salad. I would recommend having the chicken warmed. It was pretty good. On my last two visits I had sandwiches which weren't really that good. Still worth trying! read more

Don't go there late at night. normally the food is very good, however they had packed up all the bread and pastries at 9:05 PM on Friday January 25, 2019. I tried to order pick 2 with the roasted turkey apple and cheddar Sandwich. The male cook came out unhappy that we are ordering food so late for "take out". He informed the manager they did not have the Cranberry walnut bread, so I had him use another bread. He then came out and said he did not have the fresh apple and cabbage slaw so I ordered the Half Roasted Turkey & Avocado BLT instead. My lady ordered the tuna sandwich. He was obviously upset that the we ordered anything. He was banging pots and plastic containers in the kitchen while we sat right next to the kitchen where you pick up your take out orders. HE was intimidating to the other ladies working in the kitchen that were very nice (all the other ladies working there were very nice) and when we arrived home he produced shit sandwiches with stale bread, molted lettuce and tomato, there were pathetic, he did this on purpose, we threw out the food. If it wasn't so late I would have driven the 30 minute drive back to Panera Bread and confronted him. I wish I had opened the sandwiches and confronted the male cook he was a total jerk, terrible experience. I called the manager Saturday morning at 10:57 AM and she offered us a free meal and said she would look into this situation read more

We went to Panera Bread about 6 mos. ago. I had a salad which was not so great! My husband had a sandwich that cost too much & wasn't at all what we expected. The sandwich was not very big for the price. The workers were just standing around talking & not paying attention to the people eating. No one ever came over & asked us if we needed anything else. The sandwich my husband had was puny for the price we were charged. I guess people that work there don't have anything better to do than stand around & talk. Well, it shows in the food. I was not greeted by the cashier when I needed help, she was very introverted & not paying attention to what people needed in line. I had a question & it never was answered. We will not be back. Be very careful about what you order from this location. Don't make it too complicated. Several times my order has been incorrect or even the complete opposite of what i ordered (tons of tomatoes when I wanted none). Just today I ordered a cookie that wasn't put in the bag. If the order is not ready, it shouldn't be on the ready for pick up shelf. I've given this location a couple of chances but so far it feels like a waste of my money and time. This restaurant used to be our favorite place for lunch but it has gone downhill completely during 2020! Due to covid-19, we use the drive thru and wait for our orders. There is no accuracy anymore, I drive back to work to discover mistakes every time now!! Once I got mac n cheese instead of soup, ok mix-ups happen. Then I got a wrong sandwich, it was trash and I skipped lunch because of it. In fact, we've spent over $75 now for food that I either didn't receive, had wrong stuff in it or worse - was rotten or undercooked from this location. I can accept occasional mistakes but foul food that would make us sick to eat??? Totally unacceptable. This pic was from our lunch this week. What kind of a jerk employee would use this raw bacon and black avocado?! Another trashed lunch and more money spent for nothing! No more support from this local. Not a good experience at Panera Bread today. First, their clam chowder is very bland. Doesn't taste much like clams. Like most other places that serve clam chowder, the quantity and size of clams in the chowder is only slightly above none. The barbecue chicken flatbread had two very small pieces of chicken. Not very good experience today, unfortunately. I ordered the Pick 2 with the Frontega Chicken Panini and the tomato soup. I sat at the bar facing west, enjoying the view of Thumb Butte, beautiful and clear. My order was delivered quickly but with literally just barely a shred of chicken on this hap hazardously made panini, which was really tomatoes and cheese. The soup tasted odd, as if there was detergent still in the bowl from the last wash cycle. Mind you, it was just after 1pm and they were just finishing the lunch rush but c'mon. i had the worst day of my life in the drive thru of this panera. the gas gauge of the car i was driving is fucked and i did not know that and the car died. i had to tell the lady behind me what was going on and she was super nice about it so thank you lady. i told the employee at the window what was up and he was also really nice about it, he came out a minute later with another employee and they literally pushed my car out of the drive thru. like pushed my vehicle with me inside of it to steer. these people are fucking heroes. i tried to give them money as a tip because i felt awful and they wouldn't accept, just told me not to worry and made sure i had help on the way and told me to have a good night. and they even comped my meal. :') i offered to pay and he very nicely refused. they're always amazing here, great and consistent food, reasonable wait times etc, i've never had a bad experience, but this unfortunate scenario was turned around so quickly and so nicely by these people. tip them so fat every time you go like seriously. thank you panera people i love you you're amazing and all deserve huge raises (tell your boss i said that) read more

Thinking of trying out Panera Bread? DON'T DO IT! This is the WORST place for food I have ever been subjected to. My family wanted something fresh. I wanted a simple, large green salad with home-made Blue Cheese dressing. I've been dying for this for a week or more. My wife wanted French Onion Soup really bad and my daughter wanted to try their Chicken Avocado sandwich. They decided to do the drive thru. The FIRST red flag is they do not offer Ranch OR Blue Cheese dressing. What?! Big let down. So my wife decided to pay the $27 to get this and returned home. First, my LARGE GARDEN GREEN SALAD came in a cardboard box and HALF FULL of spinach leaves, some onion, a few tomatoes pieces and that was it. FOR ALMOST $6 DOLLARS?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? MAJOR Ripoff and I was forced to use my store-bought Blue Cheese dressing. Which is uck. My wife's French Onion soup came in a small Cardboard Bowl with NO SWISS CHEESE! Can you believe it? This is what MAKES IT French Onion Soup! It was horrible! She got a same small green salad which was VERY small and again, had to use her OWN RANCH DRESSING. Deplorable. My daughter was devastated. She though she was getting a top-notch Chicken and Avocado sandwich and it was AWFUL! Disgusting! The only DECENT thing we got was three pieces of Baguette bread which was tolerable. Since Panera has a good reputation for baked goods, I was expecting something delicious. Instead we received a rock hard "brownie". My girlfriend and I decided to go to lunch at Panera. I ordered the Greek salad with chicken and since I can't eat yeast, I chose the apple for a side. I recieved my salad without chicken and the apple was small and bruised (very unappetizing to the eye). The salad bowl was 1/2 full with 3 olives at the bottom. :( Each time I've been to this location it has not been the cleanest it could be. Me and my boyfriend were in Prescott on our mini vacation from Tucson and we went shopping to target and we decided to eat Panera Bread, our first time. We liked the idea of salad and soup. So we went to the drive-thru. I ordered a cobb salad and a black tea. My boyfriend ordered a potato soup. We came to a stop to eat. And my tea taste expired like it's been sitting there for weeks, made me sick. And the salad was not that good either. My boyfriend's soup taste bland and flavorless. Also the bread was hard as a rock. Definitely never coming back there again. Idk if it's just the location or the entire business. I would rate this a negative zero if I could. read more

Mediterranean veggie sandwich falls apart when lifted. Everything except the lettuce is chopped in small pieces. Onion is sliced but is too thick. I always ask for the tomatoes on the side otherwise it's a soggy mess. The best vegetarian sandwich has thinly sliced onions, cucumber tomatoes and peppers. The crust on this bread is almost impossible to cut. Be careful of your teeth! read more
