Tables are sometimes dirty as they turn over quicker than they can be bused. Especially on the weekend. Overall, you can get a good sandwich, salad and/or soup at a reasonable price. The sweets are fresh and tasty. They change the selection often but I haven't had one that I don't like! Overall the experience is usually good. The food here is good, if you actually get what you ordered. I've had three incorrect takeout/delivery orders out of my last four orders. I was less than thrilled when my order was incorrect to the point I could not eat it, and was told that I would need to bring it into the store to receive any sort or replacement or refund. I was at home nursing a newborn at the time (which was why I couldn't eat the wrong order, and also why I ordered delivery). Trash. Used to come often and over the past year they have declined so bad. NEVER have everything on the order you want. The way have been out of scrambled eggs for weeks. How is this possible? This is the 3rd time in recent visits that the order is not correct. Sandwich without extras, missing soup. This last time we ordered a salad and to try to make it a easy ordered salad from order history. Last time they were out of cheese so it was not on salad. So of course the new salad came with "no cheese"!because that was in the history as well as missing key ingredients with no explanation. How does that make sense Paneras? Also if I order a sandwich without tomatoes and onions you might want to adjust the remaining ingredients instead of barely any chicken and cheese. I paid for bread with a smattering of chicken and basil all on one side. Not sure if I will patronize this location again. No one checked the order according to the receipt. I finally found time to stop in at your new Fairview Road location a few days ago and can not adequately express my disappointment. What happened to the warm, cozy, welcoming Panera I used to know that was on Harrison Bridge Road? The new decor is cold and uninviting and the pastry display cases were just sad. There were even scones sitting out, uncovered, right beside the cash register where I placed my order. Hardly appealing, just gross and unsanitary. I got my usual Chipotle Chicken Avocado sandwich, a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup and a drink. I also gave a tip, so my total was around TWENTY DOLLARS for just me. I know you're expensive, I expected the price, but when I took my number and went to find a seat, I thought seriously about asking for a refund and leaving because there was not ONE appealing seat in the entire restaurant. What were you thinking? Is this the way all Paneras are going to be now? As for the food, it was just okay. It probably didn't help that I was so annoyed by the wanna-be hipster minimalist decor to focus much on the food. Where is the fireplace? The new Panera Bread better step up their game. Ordering took quite some time because the young girl taking my order did not know how to add extra croutons to my order. She asked for help but was ignored. Finally another associate past by and he showed her how to add the croutons. The tables in the dinning room were dirty and I had to clean one off. The Pepsi machine was not working correctly. It seemed to have air in it. I asked an employee if they could have someone check it. She said she would and after several minutes she went over and looked at it and then walked off. I went back to the machine and it was still spitting out air. I had to go back over to the employee and ask again if the Pepsi machine was going to be fixed. She finally got another employee to look at it, but by this time, I was finished my meal so I pretty much ate the meal without a drink. New location could be good but their kiosks do not work. Tried ordering online and their site was not working. New workers at counter are just rude. I ordered a grilled chicken, avocado salad to go. When we got home, my salad was plain lettuce. I called Panera and spoke to the manager. She said 'ok just come back and we'll make you another one'. Turkey, Bacon and Avocado sandwich plus chicken noodle soup...... delicious! I did the small cup and half portion to keep it healthy but it was just the right amount to fill me up. I ordered an apple instead of chips or bread and was a bit disappointed that the apple was old and not edible. Likely not many people order apples and from the outside it looked good so it's of no fault of the staff. Went on a Friday night after 8 and it was quiet which I wanted. Just wasn't in the mood for a busy loud place. Only problem was that it was freezing cold in there. Maybe with more people it wouldn't be so bad so bring a jacket just in case. I had the no sugar hibiscus berry tea.... fabulous!! I do recommend putting an artificial sweetener in it thou to break up the bitter taste. read more

So disappointed! My daughters and I have had breakfast at panera on fridays for 10 years. We were really excited about the new panera in Simpsonville. Since it opened, they have been out of something we requested EVERY SINGLE VISIT, even tho we get there about 20 min after opening. We thought management would adjust inventory based on sales, but no. Finally ordered a souffle on line 10 min after opening- got there 20 min later to pick up--and they were out pf souffles! I have been a regular customer at the Simpsonville Panera's (at least five times a week) for over thirteen years. It had been a pleasant place to enjoy a solitary lunch and do a bit of reading. Recently, they moved into a new, purpose built location. After trying it daily for nearly a month, I will never return. It is poorly laid out, with too many features and too many seats in much too small an area. The over the counter menu boards have been almost totally eliminated, seating areas are over-crowded, and in-store customers appear to be nuisances who are tolerated while all the attention is given to drive through and delivery clients. I still visit another, more distant, location once every couple weeks, but I will not return to this location. read more

I've been going to the Panera on Fairview road in Simpsonville for quite a few years now, and been pretty happy. They have now moved across the street, and the new store has a drive through, better parking, and is nicer in side. However, I just treated like crap today. I came in to pick up as I usually do, a $20 order, and they forgot my baguette that I bought. They were rude as hell to me, acted like I ruined there entire day. The expediter rudely moved me out of her way, instead of simply just saying excuse me, and when the guy came back with my baguette, he simply threw it on the counter, without saying a word. I get it, you've moved to a better place, and you can now treat people like shit. You don't value my business, and you're going to be rude. I'm sorry I was a bother for asking you to give me what I ordered. I won't make that mistake again. I'll go somewhere else from now on. Good luck with your new store. This place is great. Food is excellent, and the cheddar and broccoli soup is the bomb. Clam chowder is awesome also(only served of Friday's though). Should be available everyday. Prices are somewhat pricy, but like I said, the food is great, so it's worth it. read more

Hated it. Sanitation is poor. Bad enough that line staff wear beards, but when they scratch them (while wearing plastic gloves ????) over food preperation areas or even better ... wipe the back of their gloved hands on their nose, that's it! Floors behind the line were covered in crumbs, discarded plastic gloves laying on the floor by trash cans. Sandwich making counters not wiped; residual material everywhere. Sandwich not made as requested. Soup was ho-hum. This place gets a premium price for what they sell but fail to deliver on a number of fronts. Cuddos to the cashier .. she was perky and enthusiastic. When I called the District Manager, he apologized for the experience but my feeling from the conversation was he was less than happy at taking my call. Look folks ---- times are economically tough. Take your business to someone that appreciates your patronage. I won't be going back to any Panera as I 've found other establishments work to earn their customer's business. And for Heaven's sake Panera ... have your guys lose the beards. They're nasty in a food service environment. Why require people to wear hats but allow the beards to hang; with pieces of facial hair falling in/around food? It's unavoidable and it's filthy !! And my qualifications to comment? So I walk into the restaurant and I see about a dozen people mulling around the cash register area (mostly young millennials with their heads buried in their smartphones). It isn't clear where the line is to order. So I ask the person behind the cash register (who is just standing there doing nothing) where the line is to order. She points to a bank of computer kiosks. Now, I can pretty efficiently say "Fuji Apple Chicken Salad". But how long is it going to take me to figure out how to use a computer kiosk I've never seen before? I don't know for sure because I didn't bother, but it probably would have taken me longer than it actually took me to walk out the door and around the corner to Jersey Mike's. The sign by the kiosks said "Avoid the line". What line? I've never before been to Jersey Mike's, but they clearly prioritize friendly human interactions. Great first experience. I'll definitely go back. Panera, on the other hand, probably figures anyone who doesn't want to use a kiosk isn't technically savvy enough to submit an online review. Oops. read more
