    Well kept dining room.

I have never had a problem with any Panera location. I'm shocked that this location has such a low rating. Most of the reviews seem to be from a long time ago. Maybe they've changed since then. I just started coming to this Summerville location about a year ago now. Never any issues and I've been here numerous times. Today, I decided to roll up to Panera around 3pm. I came inside to see no one was in line in front of me. I thought about what I wanted whilst looking at the menu. The cashier patiently waited on me to make my decision. I made up my mind and told her I want a Strawberry Poppyseed Salad. It said it is in season. Cool. I ordered it with a baguette. This comes with the salad. You have a choice of sides but I love my bread. The baguette is like a piece of French bread. Good. I also ordered a drink and a chocolate croissant for later. The pastry only costs $.99 when you buy an entree. The salad was so good. It had lettuce of course, plus it was covered in strawberries, blueberries, mandarin oranges, pecans, pineapple pieces, and chicken. This is a very fruity and sweet salad. Just how I like it. The pineapples were sliced thin and large, not like the tidbits in a can. I think Panera is a good place to come eat by yourself. It's got coffee shop vibes, with a better selection of food. There were several other people here today eating by themselves. They have lots of small tables. They also have random walls in the middle of the restaurant, blocking your view of everyone there. So you feel like you're in a small, intimate area with just a couple other people. Many people come here and work on their tablet or laptop. Panera offers free wifi to their customers. Overall, I really like Panera. Their food is good and seems healthy. The service is always pretty quick and efficient. I like how you can chill here for an hour or so without anyone trying to kick you out. It's a great place to eat and / or work. It's also a good place to meet up with people over lunch and talk! Try this place out if you haven't already. Or if it's been awhile, try it again!!!

Summer strawberry salad, with mac and cheese - ask for dressing on the side, way too much was used.

It has been awhile since I've been to a Panera. Their quality is just okay and not what it used to be. Of these fast casual restaurant's, I prefer Zoe's Kitchen. Since there isn't one of those on this side of town, we stopped at Panera - I would have preferred Chicken Salad Chick across the street, but they are closed on Sunday's. At any rate, I got the summer strawberry salad. It has overall good flavor, but it was doused in dressing, like swimming in a pool of dressing. Absolutely too much, so I didn't eat much of it. Next time, I would get it on the side. The other thing is that it is on a bed of iceburg lettuce - come on, use a little bit better quality salad. The fruit was at least good. I do enjoy their mac and cheese, but I wish it were served warmer, it's usually not very warm - which is consistent at any Panera location.

So this is my second time here. So far so good. The place is 100% clean! Food is good as always. Love it.

Well this location is ONLY open for pick up/take out orders. FYI I ordered the Fiji Apple Salad. It was ok, Panera sort of skimped on the grilled chicken and a bit more blue cheese crumbles would have been nice but the little freeze dried apple slices were cute and pretty good, it was low in calorie (280) according the Panera website and the cost was a little over $7.00. Overall it was the half salad and if you have a large appetite or prefer a salad with lots of chicken or protein it might not be for you. The staff seemed pleasant considering the current pandemic. Note- Ask for an extra dressing and extra blue cheese.

Very disappointed, again. Ordered curbside pick up and when my order was supposed to be done, I waited. And waited. I finally went in to inquire and told the cashier my issue and she immediately knew the name on the order and sure enough, she found it sitting on the counter ready to be "delivered". This is the second time this has happened to me at this location. The food was good and fresh but they need to pay closer attention to orders especially when it was not busy at all.

Smokehouse BBQ Chicken Sandwich... Allegedly that sandwich.

I recommend making a reservation. We did not but Ms. Myles graciously accommodated our table for 2. A few hours prior we checked and reservations were wide open, but by the time we got there, they were pretty booked. The staff is wonderful and the food is made with care. Simply delicious! We began with a cup of their clear broth that was light and flavorful and cleansed our palettes for the grilled meats to come. At the suggestion of Ms. Myles, we had the Crispy Pork for an appetizer. Nice and crisp pieces of pork whose fat was properly rendered back into the meat. A lot of places miss this important step. It was served with a luscious white sauce and lightly vinegared hot sauce. Then we went right into their specialty- Yakitori We had one of each of the following: Momo- chicken Thigh Chicken Tenderloin with Yuzu Honey Glaze Australian Wagyu Beef- they offer American Wagyu, and A5 Japanese Kobe as well Bacon Wrapped Crab- high quality Crab stick wrapped in bacon..this was a standout for me. So rich and full of Umami Ribeye We finished the meal off with a plate of Beef Yaki-Udon. The depth of flavor was incredible and again the Umami took center stage. Interesting fact: They have been at this location for 31 years opening first as an Italian restaurant! Myles has been in Charleston for 40 years and is an icon in the Food and Bev industry. Because if I need it and it's not there I'll come find you. :) The filling was the best filling I've ever had. The baked portion, too. And I grew up enjoying the bakeries of NYC and the area. What made it so good? It was not a disgustingly sweet, gelatinous blob. It had what I could only call a "natural" style filling. Not gelatinous. Not super sweet. One bite and you'll know that this is the way it's really supposed to be. It will ruin your enjoyment of all other blueberry danishes. Like I said, don't order one. :) Bon appétit.

We had fried pickles as an appetizer and they were good, just your basic fried pickles, we enjoyed them. My daughter got 6 mild buffalo wings & a prime rib sandwich. She said both were good. She said the wings were good but it's hard to mess up buffalo wings. She really enjoyed the prime rib sandwich and I took a bite of it and it was very good. The meat was tender and the roll was fresh. I had my Reuben and it was delicious!! I'm always willing to try a Reuben wherever I go. I've had theirs before and it didn't disappoint today. A lot of places don't grill the sandwich and that is sacrilegious in my book. It was melty and toasted with the right amount of corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut & 1000 island dressing. Their fries are also really good, even my daughter commented on how good they were. They're crispy yet soft inside & seasoned just right. Kiera was the bartender and the server and she was great!! She was on top of everything. She made a great Moscow mule & we liked how she checked on us just the right amount of times. My daughter is a server and she said she really liked how she knew when to come check to see if we needed anything but not so much that it was annoying. We had a nice chat with her and really enjoyed her attitude. She's an asset to the pub. I enjoy coming to the pub I just don't get over to that part of Summerville very often, I live on the 61 side of Summerville. But when I want a great Reuben again I'll be making the trip across town.

We started what would become our favorite dish of the night Scallops on the half shell. At first, you may balk at the price but believe me worth every penny. They were $26 at the time of this review but they are topped with two kinds of caviar. It was one of those dishes that after one bite you lean back and savor the flavors. The casino butter, sake and chili garlic will make your taste buds dance. I tried the chili garlic shrimp and gnocchi, and it was so good my wife threatened to steal it. Pillowy soft gnocchi in a rich, decadent sauce with hints of heat was outstanding. It is listed as a small plate, but I found the portion size quite filling. My wife had the oyster roll which was more like a po' boy not a sushi roll. We have had other oyster rolls, and they sometimes disappoint but not this one. Some restaurants just put a few oysters on the top of the bun and that's it, but this roll had oysters all throughout. It came with house made pickles and a single fried oyster on the side as a warmup. I highly recommend it. For dessert we shared a key lime pie semifreddo which was so pretty I almost felt bad for eating it. It was topped with a graham cracker crumble and both raspberry and lime curds. The texture reminding me of ice cream and was not overly tart with a nice hint of key lime. The torched flowers of meringue were really a great touch. The best word we both agreed on was "satisfying" and would definitely come back again!

The takoyaki came with a tangy-sweet and slightly fishy sauce. The balls were soft, springy, full of creamy richness and nice-sized pieces of octopus. Perfectly cooked, not tough or chewy. Unfortunately for me, they were served absolutely covered in bonito flakes. This made them incredibly fishy in a most cat-treat-smelling way. If you are not a fan of super-fishiness, I recommend asking they do not include the flakes. The chicken katsu was well-breaded, crisp outside and juicy inside, if a little underseasoned. The rice had a very faint coconut aroma that enhanced the chicken's flavor. No sauce came with it, but it could have used something. The steamed chicken dumplings were a freebie and were flavorful and tender, loaded with plenty of ground chicken. They could have used some herbs or scallion or something as they were a little one-note, but they were definitely hearty. The pork buns were the best of all. They were bursting with flavor, spicy, sweet, tangy, savory, and satisfying. The buns were pillowy-soft and calmed the heat of the pork. They are a MUST! I would eat those and the takoyaki (hold the bonito) again for sure. We'll definitely order again and try more things.
