I probably could have traveled to Panera Bread in Augusta and gotten my food faster. I waited over 30 minutes in line to order and waiting for the food - and they weren't that busy. I saw more staff walking around than in the kitchen. All I was getting was a half a sandwich and a cup of Mac and cheese. They were also "out of almost all the bread", as I was told by the assistant manager (who was working hard). I do not recommend coming here for a while, until they sort some stuff out or you have over half an hour to wait. read more

Summer at Panera bread . The best pick two , lobster roll and summer corn chowder fantastic . The lobster roll had tail meat and full claws all for only $20 a great buy . The staff was very friendly and helpful .stop in it's worth the trip. read more

This is the first review I've done for a business in my hometown. I'm reviewing this because this Parera Bread consistently leaves me feeling like I should have ate elsewhere. My wife and I have been a PB fan for years until this opened in Topsham. I'm fine with paying a bit more for a sandwich as long as it's worth it. These sandwiches taste like the pre-made sandwiches that gas stations sell. Food is not fresh. 50% of the time, the tomatoes on the sandwiches are close to frozen and feel slushy. Lettuce is soggy and yellow American cheese has already started to fade to white. Very disappointed. read more

I LIKE the food here, and everyone is friendly enough. The seating is arranged in an intelligent fashion, since it offers something for everyone. The biggest problems are the fact that about 50% of the time you order something, they don't have it. I come here once every week or two, and I'm not a super picky eater, but I swear, it's like a lottery just to get your first choice. My other complaint is that it's overpriced for what you're getting, but most places are these days. read more

I came here at a friend's request because we needed somewhere to eat and talk. She ordered chicken noodle soup, two pieces of sourdough bread, and two thai flatbread sandwiches. Not only was my hibiscus iced tea bitter and nearly impossible to swallow, but the food was even worse. The soup was salty and looked like it had been microwaved from a can of Progresso. The thai sandwiches were limp, not crusty, and very messy. They did not taste like "thai" at all. They tasted like salad wraps with no dressing or any flavor of any kind. No peanut sauce, no spice. No heat. But that wasn't the worst part. The worst part was after taking an unsatisfied first bite and seeing something glinting in the fluorescent light at me from my sandwich. I pulled out a long plastic wrapper from my sandwich's innards. It was either a clear plastic straw wrapper or a ripped-off piece of plastic from a salad bag. Whatever it was, it was absolutely disgusting and completely unappetizing. I brought back our sandwiches, which had arrived cold anyway, and got a refund. The manager and the cashier were both very understanding and knowledgable, and offered twice to cook us new food. But we had both lost our appetites at that point, so I took the refund instead. We ended up nibbling on our sourdough bread while we talked for nearly two hours. I was extremely unimpressed with the staff, aside from the manager and cashier. The employees were mainly young folk, college age. They were all loudly talking with their friends who had come in to eat. Two female staff members did not work at all for the time we were there and instead talked to their friends at a table not far from us. The customers who came in were unfriendly, unhappy and didn't look like they were enjoying their food much either. Unlike me and my friend, however, everyone else ate their plastic-free food. We left ten minutes before closing and swore to never return. This particular Panera Bread was a step down from McDonald's. read more

Hands down the worst Panera in the state. Consistently out of product; the turkey sausage for the breakfast sandwiches was out for the third time-the only reason I frequent the faux fresh establishment. Low morale among the staff judging by the quality of service. Try Mr Bagel read more

I'm an absolute fan of Panera Bread's food! I also think the Topsham location has very friendly, pleasant, and helpful staff! The service is excellent indoors and via the drive-through; which I can't say of many restaurants. My only gripe is that the ad for this store claims "reasonable pricing". If you call $10 for 4 cupcakes reasonable, then OK. How about 3 sandwiches, drinks, and side rolls at nearly $40 being reasonable? You can pay that much at Texas Roadhouse and get four times the amount of food, and I doubt there's a different in healthiness in the grand scheme of things. I love Panera's coffee blend. But $7 for a large cup makes me cringe. It's very good; but so is Tim Hortons coffee- at half the price. I never thought I'd find more expensive coffee than Starbucks. So, "reasonable" is not the word I'd use. :) As such, I can't visit PB as often as I'd like over other coffee/pastry stores, due to their reasonable pricing. read more

Waited 30+ minutes for salads and watched three separate groups walk out. This is after we placed our order thru the "fast order kiosk." Salad finally arrived with three bite size pieces of chicken and a fork for our soup. Not up to par with any other Panera's level of service. read more

I agree with the other reviewers. We stopped going here because at nite time they were either out of items or they kept getting the order wrong (missing sandwiches, doing a half rather than a whole, missing soups etc). Tried tonight on a whim. Three soups, three sandwiches and they missed a sandwich completely despite charging for it. I figure an accuracy rate at less than 50% per order. Maybe daytime is better, but after at least 7 it's horrible read more

No bread bowls.. Again. 3rd time here recently, all mid afternoon or earlier. I only come for the bread bowls. May just have to give up and find somewhere that can handle stocking the items they sell on a regular basis. read more

I have ordered from the Topsham Panera numerous times. Every time I have been through the drive thru the wait has been at least 30 minutes or more. Whether it be I am the only car or the third it always takes a long time. They also have messed up my order at least 1 out of 3 times. Maybe they are short staffed if so something needs to change or they need to not have a drive-thru. 30 minute waits are unacceptable. I will no longer order from them. read more

No wonder the reviews on this location are low. One of us ordered tomato soup and half their "new recipe" bacon, tomato grilled cheese and opted for potato chips. The other order was for onion soup with half a steak sandwich and a baguette. Picked up the order and the sandwich/soup combos were switched on the plates. No chips or baguette. Went back to the counter for those items. The soups were sort of warm. The bacon/tomato/grilled cheese had zero bacon and a few pieces of sun-dried tomatoes (the menu does not specify sun-dried). Clearly the sandwich never saw a "grill". It was pretty much melted flavorless cheese on a piece of bread. Brought this to the attention of the manager (an unkempt young man sitting at a table having his lunch). He indicated that the sandwich actually isn't grilled but rather done in the oven. Well than the "grilled cheese" noted on the menu isn't accurate. He did offer to have another one made but since the first one tasted so bad I declined at which point it would have been great if he had offered a refund. Crossing this place off our list. read more

I usually eat inside the restaurant but today needed to place a rapid pickup order. I ordered my favorite, the large Green Goddess salad with extra pickled onions and extra egg. I saw a sign that stated "Take-out and counter orders...Pickup here....so after I waited longer than I thought necessary for a rapid order and the folks behind the counter made no motion to ask me anything...I wandered down the hallway towards the registers again and another customer pointed out my bag on a shelf. When I returned to work, on opening the bag I found a VERY small salad that was definitely not the size that I normally get inside...only an extra half egg and not so attractive salad that seemed hastily shoved in the plastic to go bowl...that didn't even fill the bowl halfway. I paid close to $13 for this salad and am definitely not a happy camper. Panera folks should realize that their outside customers are just as important as the inside ones and strive to keep the quality & quality consistent! I will not order take-out again from here. read more
