Everything at Panini is delicious. Pizza by the slice if you're in a hurry, or a whole pie for dinner for $20. My favorite is the roasted eggplant and basil. Lunchtime, the roasted eggplant sandwich on foccacia with spinach, feta, and balsamic is to die for and will have you dreaming about it the next day. I love the savory scones, parmesan and green onion pairs excellently with their superb coffee. Desserts are excellent, too: blackbottom cupcake, peanut butter cookies, bread pudding. The bottom line: unique pastries, all fresh and excellent. The pros: the banana nut bread was definitely the best we ever had. First of all this shop needs to train there employees for busy holiday weekends and learn how to take care of a line of patrons in a more efficient manner. The girl at the register was friendly and did her best to keep up but the other girl up front was to busy chewing her gum and blowing gum bubbles to listen to the other girl when she needed help. The girl at the register asked for her help several times but she did everything but......when she came to help make coffee drinks she burned herself because she didn't know what she was doing. My drink turned out cold, no flavor for something that sounded so good! (The Borgia) the bakery items were very tasty but the service was not good at all, I will be going down the hill to the other coffee shop next time and that is a shame because during the slow times this place is good. read more

This place looked cute and we were looking forward to breakfast from there. AAA gave them a Diamond rating, but the quality of the food didn't meet our expectation and the price was too high for what was delivered. I can't recommend it. We ordered a blueberry muffin, croissants, rustic sour dough bread and the granola/yogurt breakfast along with mochas and lattes and we were disappointed with all of it. To be honest we didn't finish any of it . The muffin had no flavor, the croissants were heavy/dense and the sour dough just wasn't good (give me Grand Central). The granola/yogurt was so-so. The sour dough did taste like the dough that would be used for pizza so maybe that is their strength ( but it didn't taste like sourdough bread - do they have a starter?) But for breakfast we spent 30 dollars on coffee and pastry (and a sour dough bread $5.75) that was all sub par. It looked to me like the food was created by a food stylist rather than a chef. Maybe we just got them on an off day... but it was not a good day. read more

My fiance and I stopped here on our way out of town to grab something small for breakfast. This is definitely a place that I would go back to. The pastries are very yummy and made fresh. While we were there they were still taking some out of the oven. The guy that helped us was very friendly and it was nice to be able to sit outside, but be protected from most of the wind and rain. I visit Newport a few times a year and thought there are many things I like in this town, the only two things I must do every time I'm here is go to the beach and eat at panini's. Ducking in on a typical rainy day we were greeted with a small, not very warm space smelling like a pizza joint. After a moment's hesitation I decided to suspend my urbane self and noticed that the pizza smell was due to fact that 2 groups of workmen in painted coveralls were sharing whole pizzas on their lunch breaks. Meanwhile the racks behind the counter featured rows of beautiful breads, including artistically scored sourdough boules in addition to beautiful pastries and tarts. Noticing a 'No Credit' sign, and sadly realizing I didn't have any plastic and only 5 dollars in cash, I settled on trying a muffin and small cup of coffee. Muffin was amazing to look at, and good to eat, while coffee was fantastic. In a world of increasingly expensive and poor coffee its nice to find a 1 dollar cup with real quality. Given the time I intend to go back and try their pizza, which was also beautiful to look at and reasonably priced at about $22 for a large pie. Whole loaves of sourdough and the tarts are also high on my list to try, but for now my review is based on the overall experience and limited food try. If you're looking for a roomy space in which to spend hours and maybe work on wi-fi then this isn't for you as I didn't see an internet signal and their interior is limited in size. read more

I'm a fan of Panini Bakery and have been there many times. Their sourdough bread is to die for and the coffee is delish. Um. And they make their own caramel! I want to love.love.love this place, but there are two reasons I've taken off a star: one because it's cash only; second because the service is...well...sometimes moody. One of the servers, a guy with longish hair, is lovely. Every encounter I've had with him has been great. They don't have any sugar-free *anything* but recommended his favorite tea, which was great. The next day, I returned, he encouraged me to have their caramel latte; he had overheard me swooning over someone's (homemade caramel!) the day before. Remembering I wanted sugar-free stuff, he enticed me with a spoon-full of the most yummy caramel I'd ever had, then gave me a spoon-full for my daughter, too! Unfortunately, I've returned to Panini a few times since then, only to be served by a woman who each time has never smiled, seems apathetic (worse - like she really doesn't even like her job), and doesn't know what a macchiato is. The last time I was served by her, I figured I just would start going to Stehpanie's instead (which has great coffee, too, but with super friendly service). read more

A cute little bakery in the heart of Nye Beach with the worst service I've ever experienced. When I walked in there was one person waiting, and it took 45 minutes and counting to get a turkey sandwich. (Which I never got, because I asked for my money back.) I counted 6 people working in the open kitchen, none of whom were interested in prioritizing customers' orders. "Hmm, should I make a new sign for the peanut butter cookies in my extra beautiful calligraphic handwriting or make this customer's turkey sandwich?" "I know dinner is 5 hours away, but I'm going to chop the cilantro instead of helping with the orders in front of me." After 45 minutes I asked for a refund, which took the same amount of time to figure out (look at order slip, subtract can of Diet Coke, do math in head, open register) as it would have to make my turkey sandwich. And the counter chick, with her beautiful sign, could not have cared less. read more

Was looking for a place to eat lunch with my husband at Nye Beach and we stopped in here. Tiny little place, but it was empty around 2pm so we had seating. We split the portabello mushroom sandwich - it was huge! Plenty for two to share. Also had one of their cupcakes which was delicious. Employees were super friendly and the food was great. They have a water cooler to get your own water with a bucket below to catch the excess water I guess. At first I thought maybe the bucket was for dog water, but I don't think dogs are allowed in restaurants even in Newport. I think they do have a dog water bucket outside though. And dogs can be in the outside dining area. read more
