We were so happy we made the time to stand in line and put our name down. We got in line at 3:50 and had our pick of times when they opened at 4. The food was so great. We had a trio of dips and chips - the guacamole is so fresh and amazing. The Queso and house salsa were good as well. My husband got the green chili enchiladas and I wish I had ordered it too. A good amount of spice and just a great dish. Finished the evening with the spicy ice cream sundae and we loved it. We chose the Pantry Restaurant given the excellent reviews and its longevity in the community. We were seated promptly on a busy Saturday morning and the service was very friendly and attentive. The server even noticed that the cream was curdling in the coffee and quickly replaced it with a fresh cup. We ordered the avocado toast, blue corn pancakes, and a breakfast burrito. Food came out of the kitchen fairly expeditiously but the results were mixed. The avocado toast was properly toasted and had a generous amount of avocado spread on it, accompanied by eggs sunny side up deliciously full of that wonderful golden yolk. The breakfast burrito was okay, generously portioned with eggs and cheese and a decent rendition of green Chile sauce. However, the fried potatoes and beans on the dish were somewhat greasy coated in some spicy red sauce. The blue corn pancakes were a bit gummy and tough to cut as well. While the service was awesome the food was mediocre and really not what we expected after all of the great reviews. read more

We stopped in for breakfast on our way home from Albuquerque. We were seated immediately and had our hot coffee in no time, and our orders placed. The food arrived hot and tasty. The scramble type breakfast smothered in green chili was amazing. The chilaquiles were the best my daughter has ever had. The chips were very crunchy and covered in the red sauce. We find a place to park and walk into a deceptively small store complete with counter seating - there's a larger dining area hidden in the back. It's between breakfast & lunch times but still doing a brisk business. Grab a seat by the window and survey the menu. Chicken Fried Steak - yes it's hand breaded here. Easy choice. Plus they have grits! Haven't seen them served anywhere else. Add Ranchero Steak and our order is complete. Our order arrived and it looked delicious. The CFS was deceptively large(the other half was hidden under the eggs), thin, nicely seasoned and not overcooked. The eggs were perfect and the grits were season to taste. The Ranchero was tender and well seasoned, refried beans were thick and eggs nicely done. The coffee urn came around frequently and our server made sure we had everything we needed. By recommendation, while visiting Santa Fe, we decided to enjoy breakfast at the Pantry. They have breakfast and lunch food. Menu attached. I ordered the blue corn cinnamon pancakes, which by the way, were as big around as the plate. I could only eat one. A Nice surprise ... Though the cinnamon flavor was mild, it was present and appreciated. I also ordered limp bacon, which was amazingly smokey and had a really rich flavor. Hubby ordered the corned beef hash plate. (Which I sampled) The corned beef was really fresh, served in a heap of small chunks over peasant potatoes, topped with over easy eggs. The potatoes were moist and eggs cooked as ordered. Yumm!!! The prices were really reasonable and didn't given us sticker shock, so we really appreciated that. We arrived at 8am in the morning to avoid crowds and got there about 30 minutes before it began to get busy. Perfect timing. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, coming by to see how the food was several times and refilling our drinks multiple times during our meal. It was nice and rare to see staff enjoying what they do - so happy to see it. The restaurant has several areas for you to eat in, some out of sight of the front entrance areas, and a counter areas right at the door- kind of a diner style. My husband and I both got the combination platter and shared the green chili stew. We definitely over ordered and left VERY full. This place is a classic local restaurant. There's 3 locations now, this has the original. The combo platter comes with a brisket taco, enchiladas, and chili relleno. The brisket in the taco is tender and flavorful. The chili stew is very warming and flavorful too. Aside from the amazing food, I was really impressed with how attentive the employees were and how well they worked together. This is a little gem! I ordered the Tortilla Burger. The burger was cooked perfectly to order, then folded in to a flour tortilla. The tortilla was stuffed the beans and other yummies and covered with sauce and cheese. Very delicious, but warning, it is big! Final night of this Santa Fe adventure and we headed out to dinner at a different restaurant. We got there and drove by and did not feel like eating in a mall so we regrouped and headed to Pantry. We had eaten breakfast here on our first rip to Santa Fe, three years ago and really enjoyed it. Really, not much has changed. It is still a super low key diner feel with great food and great service. Let's start with the service. Juan Carlos was our server and his exuberance and genuine love of life was contagious. When my meal was delivered to the table at a little less than awesome, he was quick to remedy the situation. Not sure if it was the manager or owner who came over with the replacement plate, but he took full responsibility for the coldness of one of the items on my plate and you could tell that he was genuinely sorry. Now, let's talk about the food. I went with the Santa Fe brisket because it was served with mashed potatoes and my husband had the carne adovado. Both the brisket and adovado had great flavor and neither was over cooked. My husband has tried his fair share of adovado and said that this was one of the best he has ever had. So, originally my plate was delivered with cold mashed potatoes and gravy. As noted above, they made it right immediately with a fresh plate and nice warm mashed potatoes and gravy goodness. We ended the meal by sharing a piece of tres leches cake. OMG--AMAZING! I'm not one to easily give a five star rating, especially when my meant to be warm meal was delivered cold, but their customer service and great food made them completely deserving. I'm not sure why this restaurant is rated so highly. The servers have a dead look in their eyes, and don't seem to care much. Ate at two different locations, two days in a row. Food was good, but nothing to do backflips over. Service made the experience forgettable. Seems as though they got too full of themselves after becoming popular. Now they think customers are a given and will keep coming no matter what they do or don't do. Wasn't hungry but I was staying down the street and read the reviews so decided to go for breakfast and try it out. So good! The red sauce on the Tup's Burrito was perfection and you can taste the corn in the large tortilla encasing the eggs spinach and potatoes all in the right proportions. As you can see from the photo I ate the entire very large burrito even though I was still digesting a large meal from the previous night. Also the drip coffee is quite good. I read varying comments from good to bad but it is on the better end of cafe drip and a medium blend that doesn't need cream to cover the taste. Just keep in mind that it won't pair well with chile sauce just like most red wine doesn't pair with spicy food so enjoy some before and after your meal not during. read more

The Pantry OG is quite the operation. They move quickly. There is no shortage of help. They follow the mask mandate. They seem to do just about everything well. We came in and our toddler was a bit unruly at times and no one seemed to be bothered. It's incredibly family friendly. I even kept switching from a high chair to a regular chair, and the kind server did not even seem bothered. We came the day after Christmas, it was VERY busy. The good thing is that they move tables in and out so quickly. We ordered so much food. The toddler had a cheese quesadilla. We ordered blue corn pancakes, buenos dias, and eggs with potatoes. Everything was so delicious. We had A LOT of food that we were also eating lunch later in the day. We were sharing dishes--they even brought it out split in half for us on two different plates.
