Looks like this is the place to go to for breakfast . When out of town, I like to try new things. So I ordered the omelette with the chile relleno ($13.95) inside. It was delicious, a fluffy egg omelette encasing the cheesy chile. I had the green chile it comes with on the side. Sometimes I'm Sally from When Harry Met Sally, lol. Next time, I'll have that spicy concoction on top! The blue corn cinnamon pancakes ($8.95) are also worth ordering if you like to end the meal with something sweet. They nicely subbed my regular side (fruit) with the pancake. The potatoes look spicy but are not. The Avocado Toast ($11.75) sounds light. But my friend's multi-grain toast was jam-packed with avocado and served with sea salt and olive oil as well as two eggs and fruit. Yum! read more

The pantry is a nice little diner. I like to go here once in a while, especially if it's early in the morning, they open very early. They make a great americano brekkie if your into that stuff, eggs, bacon, toast, pancakes etc., it's basically whiteyville American style diner. They do serve some "new mexican" style dishes but there are so many authentic New Mexican diners, cafes & restaurants around Santa Fe I go other places for Mexican & New Mexican. I like a good'ol fashion American Sandwich sometimes & they make a great one here! The club & Turkey Ruben's are my fave. They usually have fresh baked breads to choose from & the coffee they serve is also local & very tasty :)' The restaurant is kinda tiny so it's usually too crowded for me. Visited with a group of friends, personally tried their 1) Blue corn pancakes with scrambled eggs and adovado(pork meat in red sauce-new for me) - The blue corn pancakes are little dry but the flavor is different and good, the scrambled are a little dry as well and the adovado is very oily and mild but decent flavor to the meat. 2) The Combination platter - got is Christmas style. It included a brisket Taco, chilli relleno, shredded chicken burrito(wet), beans and Spanish rice. The taco has good amount of meat stacked in it but needed red salsa to add the flavor to the taco, the chilli relleno is mild but flavorful. The burrito is subpar with no flavor. The beans aren't tasty or cooked enough. The rice is cooked and had no flavor as well. My friend ordered a French toast and had a little bite and it was one of the best ones I had ever. We were in the mood for breakfast (we'd skipped it that morning) so I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs and my wife got the pancakes with eggs and bacon. Both were great. Staff was great too. We both got coffee and they had the typical diner mugs but with a drawing on once side and their name on the other. This place is rated #1 in Santa Fe, and for good reason. When we came in with a party of 6, it was only a short 15 minute wait (which isn't all that bad considering this was peak hours and this was #1). We didn't really had any expectations coming here, so this was a very pleasant surprise. Upon being seated, I was met with an angel. His name? Suave Server Man (SSM). His smile, his eyes, and his voice... it all resonated through my soul and left a lasting impact in my heart. He was so smooth and charismatic, and I don't even think he even knew it. Being met with such a pleasant person definitely made the start of morning. What made the rest of it? The food. We got the breakfast burrito with chorizo (with both red and green chile aka Christmas Style) and the stuffed French toast. I have no idea how anyone who tastes this food doesn't immediately fall in love with both the establish and the servers. With meals sometimes, I have to convince myself that it tastes good because of the price. There was no such problem with this food. It was cheap, and each bite was better than the last. The burrito was the most well-seasoned food that I've tasted in my life. Each component was prepared properly, without each individual part outshining another. They all shined equally. Both of the chili sauces were AMAZING (not spicy but it didn't matter, because there was already explosion of flavors in my mouth). The texture of the burrito was amazing, with the right balance of everything! The stuffed French toast was the dessert-esque part of the meal, and boy, I nearly cried as I finished the meal. Cried that it was almost over, cried that it was so good, cried because I met the most amazing angel (SSM) but will never see him again, cried because nothing I will eat for the rest of this trip will compare to the experience I got here. Overall, this is a fantastic place. It was truly deserving of the praise it receives. And someone please give SSM a huge hug for me; he truly deserves it. 5/5 stars. There is a reason why this restaurant has been in business so long... It's just great. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by friendly faces. We saw huge portions on every table we passed and the food looked delicious. We were there for dinner, but we saw people getting huge stacks of pancakes and beautiful Belgian waffles. We ordered the spinach enchiladas. We ordered one serving because the platters look so big. Our server asked if we would like that plated on two plates at no charge, we said great. We each received a beautiful enchilada with both red and green chili sauce. The rice was a delicious Spanish rice and the beans were also very tasty. We also ordered which was delicious and filled with orange slices and blueberries. All in all a great dinner. We will return and probably get breakfast dishes next time. read more

If you want some genuinely authentic New Mexican cuisine, The Pantry is for you. The chile, to me, isn't hot ENOUGH, but you might disagree. I love pretty much everything on the menu, breakfast burritos are my passion. I always get Xmas, extra at that. The waitstaff is usually helpful, and the food always comes out piping hot and delicious. The place itself is quaint, clean and pretty much on par with what you'd expect from a New Mexican restaurant. The prices aren't astronomical, but this is Santa Fe, so expect to spend at least $50 for two people for dinner. This place is easy to pass as it's on a very busy street. However, using Yelp always helps to find great restaurants. On the advice of Yelp! I went to the Panty on my visit. As most reviews state, it doesn't look like much from the outside, but walking in, it's a really quaint, clean place with the old style coffee counter and plenty of seating. I was seated right away and served coffee quickly. The wait staff is really attentive and I never had an empty cup. The staff work in tandem with one another and they are constantly checking around to see who possibly needs anything. Great service. Food was good. I'll confess up front I had the chicken fried steak (not on my usual diet) but comfort food on a 26 degree morning. It really hit the spot. Portion sizes are good. Flavors are good.
