OK, so since we really enjoyed the flavors and the food selection, the first time, we came back and brought moms and pops. Both Juanita & Claudia were there and are so professional and friendly. We ordered Loma saltado, tallarines verdes con bistec (w/steak), tallarines saltados w/steak, ceviche mixto, pescado frito, arroz con mariscos and pork tomale . Every plate was absolutely full of flavors and delicious. The ceviche was even better than the first time I tried it. The tamale was tender, full of meat, and I love the flavor of the MASA. The fish and chips was absolutely delicious (pescad frito) one of the best dishes of the night so tasty very light but crunchy yet the fish was Seabass and it was absolutely delicious, light, fluffy yet crispy and full of flavor. We will definitely be back and try other entrées on the menu so far everything is absolutely delicious that we have tried .

We finally made it out to try the new Peruvian restaurant in Brentwood! This restaurant shares a location with Sticky Chicken. The vibrant colors on the tablecloths and decor are the first things that caught my eye. The staff is friendly and polite. It has a family environment & small business feel- very authentic experience, unique from chain restaurants. I thought the food was tasty! (My family is personally spoiled with authentic Peruvian food often from a talented cook, so our opinion can be biased.) You can tell that the food in this restaurant is made with love. Everything that I tasted here was good! The chicha morada drink was very good; the arroz chaufa was plentiful and filled with flavor. The alfajores dessert was just the right amount of sweetness for me to punctuate the meal. The amount of food you get is good, but the price per dish would prevent us from coming regularly... it's more of a fine dining experience than a grab-and-go midweek type of thing. We do enjoy this type of cuisine! I'm to see this being offered in Brentwood.

Huanchaco - Brentwood's New Peruvian Gem! Location: Food Quality: Value: I'm so thrilled to be one of the first to review Huanchaco, which just opened its doors in Brentwood! If you're searching for truly authentic, high-quality Peruvian cuisine that tastes genuinely homemade, look no further. My wife and I tried a few Peruvian classics, and every single dish was exceptional: Ceviche Mixto (The Seafood Starter) What a vibrant and refreshing dish! The Ceviche Mixto was bursting with flavor and perfectly balanced. The fish were tender, and the leche de tigre--that zesty, citrusy marinade--was spot-on: bright, tangy, and full of depth. The sides of sweet potato (camote) and giant corn kernels (choclo) were the perfect complement, softening the spice and adding a touch of natural sweetness. It was like tasting the Peruvian coast in one bite. Beef and Chicken Empanadas (The Perfect Appetizer) Do not skip the empanadas! We tried both the beef and chicken versions, and they were phenomenal. The pastry was golden and flaky--clearly made with care--and the fillings were flavorful, juicy, and generously packed. The creamy aji amarillo dipping sauce brought a subtle heat that tied everything together beautifully. These are the kind of empanadas that make you wish you'd ordered extra to take home. Huanchaco is more than just a restaurant--it's an experience of authentic, heartfelt Peruvian cooking. The attention to detail, the quality ingredients, and the love poured into each dish truly shine through. If you're in the Brentwood area (or even if you're not!), do yourself a favor and check this place out. Support this incredible new local spot--you absolutely won't be disappointed!

I'm so excited to see Peruvian food finally in Brentwood! This spot is a bit hidden since it's located inside another restaurant--I got a little lost trying to find it at first, so don't be surprised if you do too! But once you're there, it's absolutely worth it. I tried their Ceviche, and it was so good--fresh, flavorful, and authentic. It truly reminded me of the classic Peruvian flavors I love. I'm so happy to have this kind of food right here in town, and I really hope this business thrives. Highly recommend checking it out if you're craving something delicious and different in Brentwood.

    Jalea de marisco delicious

I've been living in California for 25 years, and during all this time I've tried many restaurants -- but very few have made me feel truly connected to my roots the way Hunchaco did. From the moment I walked in, I could feel that warm, familiar atmosphere and smell the aromas that instantly brought me back to Peru. I ordered the fried fish jalea and the lomo saltado, two traditional dishes that represent the heart of Peruvian cuisine. The jalea was absolutely perfect -- the fish was fresh, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, seasoned just right, and served with a bright criolla salsa that added the perfect kick. The lomo saltado was simply outstanding: tender beef, golden fries cooked to perfection, and that signature mix of soy sauce, onions, and tomatoes that only a true Peruvian chef can balance so beautifully. What really impressed me was that everything tasted fresh, healthy, and made with care. You can tell that every dish is prepared with love and respect for authentic Peruvian flavors. The service was also excellent -- friendly, attentive, and with a smile that made me feel at home. After so many years away from Peru, I can honestly say that Hunchaco brought back the joy and pride of my culture. It's a place where you don't just eat -- you experience Peru again, one bite at a time. Highly recommended for anyone who loves good food and wants to discover the true flavors of Peru without having to travel thousands of miles.

Great little hidden gem! There aren't too many Peruvian places in the Brentwood area and this spot can easily be missed so hopefully they expand because we quite enjoyed their food! Made fresh with great flavors and portions. Their yellow sauce is sooo good with just the right amount of heat. We had the lomo Saltado, ceviche de Pescado, a beef empanada, and their chicha drink. Everything was delicious but my favorite has to be the empanada. It was nice and moist, great flavor, and paired perfectly with the aji amarillo sauce and a squeeze of lime. The ceviche was refreshing and was large portion - the fish was marinated perfectly with zero fishiness. The Lomo Saltado was so savory and tender as well! Would definitely go again.

    Lomo saltado!

    Seafood fried rice

My husband and I enjoyed a very flavorful dinner here recently. We were excited to hear that Brentwood has a Peruvian restaurant and we walked away with even more excitement, knowing how good it was. They are located inside of a shared restaurant with sticky chicken and ribs in downtown Brentwood. You have to walk towards the back area and they have a separate counter to order. It's run by a couple and the woman is from Peru and really knows what she's doing! We ordered the mixto seafood ceviche and shared the seafood fried rice. We try ceviche at every single restaurant we see it available and this is definitely one of the best we've ever had. Extremely flavorful and I can say the same thing for their fried rice. We finally have a good fried rice option in this area! They also offer beef and chicken options . We also grabbed some beers during the happy hour at the neighboring restaurant. We were served complementary snacks, which included plantains with a dip and Peruvian-style corn nuts. The service was friendly and we definitely will be back to support this local business.

So glad we have a Peruvian restaurant in Brentwood, Great food and service. The lomo saltado had a good flavor. The fries were fresh and the onion still had a bite. The ceviche mixto (truly a mix of seafood) was good too. If you can't handle spicy foods just make sure you tell them the level of spice. I also had the chicha morada to drink. Highly recommended. The place is family oriented, it can get a little pack but there chair and tables outside too.

I love Peruvian food and have to go to Walnut Creek to eat it but not anymore!! We have a new place right here in Brentwood! If you have never tried it please do, it has influences from food in japan, spain and even africa. I ordered the causa lemena instead of chicken it had ceviche, It was nicely prepared and the presentation was also good ! The mashed potatoes were so creamy and delicious, they must use another type of potatoe because theses didn't taste like basic russet potatoes! , now the ceviche was amazing as well as fresh, it wasn't to salty and the lemon was just the right amount of tartness!! This place will definately have to expand in the near future!!

    Jalea

I was so excited to try this place. Given the fact that good Peruvian cuisine is very hard to come by in this area, I made plans to try this out. We sat and waited 10 minutes before a waiter brought out an appetizer that consisted of corn, hominy, a sauce and plantain chips. No water, no drink order. About another 10 minutes later the waitress arrived to take our order; Ceviche Mixto, Jalea, and Bistec a lo Pobre along with 2 drinks. The Ceviche Mixto made it out about 25 minutes later with our drinks. The ceviche had good flavor unfortunately it also had frozen pieces of seafood, ceviche is a cold dish but I have never been served frozen pieces of seafood. After another 20 minutes, the Jalea arrived, which is basically fried seafood mix, it was fried nicely and was the only item ordered that wasn't a total disappointment. After another lengthy 20 minutes we received the steak plate, the only good part of that was the french fires, the meat was so tough and flavorless. The wait times were the worst I have experienced in a very long time, the disappointing dishes made it the whole experience a huge let down. At no point the staff at least acknowledge and apologized for the long wait times, I can't even consider coming back.

The polli papas were delicious and comforting. The chicken was juicy and flavorful with nicely seasoned skin, while the fries were crispy and perfect for dipping into the sauces. The empanadas were a great starter. It's golden, flaky, and filled with savory, well-seasoned ingredients. The truffle mac and cheese was rich, creamy, and indulgent with a nice truffle aroma that wasn't overpowering. It was the perfect comfort-food side and paired surprisingly well with the chicken. Service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal, and the food arrived quickly. The vibe is energetic and inviting, with a modern atmosphere that's great for both casual lunches and dinner outings. It feels lively without being overwhelming, making it an easy place to relax and enjoy a meal. Overall, a really enjoyable experience with flavorful food, great service, and plenty of comforting dishes. I'd definitely come back to try more of their Peruvian specialties.

While the food was fine, the restaurant's sneaky charging practices and lack of communication completely ruined the celebration. To celebrate, we brought in a special Father's Day dessert from Julie's Cakes. We explicitly asked our server for spoons to eat it. Instead of being upfront and letting us know there would be a charge, the staff said absolutely nothing and just quietly tacked an "outside dessert fee" onto our final bill. When we looked at the menu to find where this was stated, we saw it buried in microscopic fine print at the absolute bottom of the page (image.png). For a table spending $700, sneaking a fee onto the bill without a verbal heads-up--especially when we directly asked for utensils--is incredibly tacky and poor customer service. They cared more about nickel-and-diming us over a couple of plates than providing good hospitality for a family holiday. Disappointing experience, to say the least. Including the fact that it was a holiday dessert really drives home how rigid and unaccommodating their service was. Are you planning to post this on Yelp, Google, or directly to their social media page?

Despite having TVs visible in the restaurant, Parada Walnut Creek does not show live sports at all. If you come in hoping to enjoy a game while eating or having drinks, don't bother. The TVs are either off or showing non sports programming, even during major sporting events. This is especially disappointing considering the bar seating and layout suggest that watching a game would be an option. What makes this worse is that the Lafayette location (Barranco) DOES show sports on their TVs, creating a confusing and inconsistent customer experience across the brand. Same ownership, similar cuisine, but completely different policies. If Lafayette can balance food and sports viewing, there's no good reason Walnut Creek can't. At a minimum, this should be clearly communicated. Instead, customers are left guessing--or worse, finding out after they've already ordered. Not everyone wants a "quiet, curated dining experience" all the time, and having TVs but refusing to use them for sports just feels out of touch. If you're looking for great Peruvian food and want to watch a game, go to Lafayette. If you're at Parada Walnut Creek, leave your sports expectations at the door.

We had the kindest server who let me sample a few (non alcoholic) drinks before making my decision. My colleague and I ordered two appetizers off the bar bites menu. We ordered the yucas y platanos ($13) and the beef heart anticuchos ($17). Then, we felt like we could still eat a little bit more so we split the ceviche mancora ($26). All the food was fantastic. My husband and I jokingly called it the "Onion Saltado" dinner afterward. I wish I had taken photos, but I had accidentally left my phone at home. My honest suggestion would be either: keep the current portion sizes but balance the meat-to-onion ratio a bit better and consider adjusting the price point, or increase the amount of steak and vegetables and charge a little more for it. I truly don't mind paying higher prices for a great dining experience, good service, and a satisfying entrée. I just didn't feel the value matched the $33 price in this case.
