It is so sad what Papa Ginos has become. It used to be a reliable, family pizza restaurant better than most local spots. I moved to Los Angeles after growing up in New England and always lamented the fact that a chain pizza restaurant was so good in MA but terrible in LA. (Shakey's, etc.) Fast forward to when Private Equity took over Papa Ginos in 2018 and completely revamped ( ... cut corners to maximize profit, in corporate speak) and their website brags about their new CEO's longstanding history as a Domino's Pizza franchise. That tells you all you need to know about what you're in store for! Papa Ginos used to have a sauce that was a wonderfully acidic and fresh oregeno-laden taste-bomb. The pepperoni was greasy but loaded with spice and flavour. Today ... the sauce tastes like jarred Ragu supermarket sugar sauce ... and the pepperoni smells and tastes like wet dog. Seriously ... tell me I'm wrong! The pizza is bland and the cheese is kind of rubbery and sparse. Gone are the days where cheese was an entire layer on the top. The cheap cheese and the bland sauce are the biggest disappointments. Beyond that ... the prices are fucking insane. $3 EACH topping!!! A 3-topping combo adds $10 after tax to the cost of each $17 large pizza!! This is a mass produced $9 pizza for $27. Unreal. Sure, they occasionally have 20% off coupons but even then, you are still paying $22 for a large cheese pizza. Let's just say you don't give a shit about value and are okay paying $20 - $30 per mediocre pie. We ordered pizzas and they were dry and tasted like Elio's microwavable pizza. All were cold on the 5 minute drive. This is a good lesson in how Venture Capital works for anyone who hasn't seen Wall Street. They take a family-owned pizza chain with a quality product and high-quality ingredients. They close 50 stores, fire 1,000 workers with zero notice. Revamp the recipe using cheap ingredients. Raise the prices and brag about hiring a CEO who's experience is in the worst rated garbage corporate pizza chain in the county. This is now basically Domino's Pizza at double the price. read more

I LOVE Papa Gino's. Without a doubt it's the best fast chain pizza. As someone who has a rewards account and gets 25% off every week and $5-10 off every order, I am very much a regular. However this particular location needs to look very seriously at their management. The last three times here I have questioned whether this is a good idea. The store is often dirty, labels, wrappers and napkins on the floor, ledges. Unbussed tables with food, crumbs, sauce on them, etc. The last two times I came (I order online so I get the discounts), the person preparing the food got the order wrong, ironically, both times he was making a buffalo chicken calzome instead of a chicken parm one.... How does that happen twice in a row with an online order? In addition, today, at 12:20, in the peak of lunchtime, there was only half a cheese slice pie in the case. This place has no clue how to be successful. This required me wasting 15 minutes waiting for the order to be fixed. Not acceptable two times in a row. This combination of a lack of basic cleanliness and attention to the orders makes me skeptical about other practices like basic health and safety. I am pretty sure I am done with this location until it's under new management. In the absence of new management, my expectation is this location will be going out of business, which will be too bad. I haven't ordered from Papa Gino's in forever and last night my husband and I called in for a small cheese pizza with olives. The operator told us 30 minutes but the pizza arrived a lot earlier with no contact delivery. After opening the box, half the pizza's contents were slid to the other side making it a big mess. We called the restaurant back and one of the employees suggested they make another pizza. The second pizza was delivered fast and had no issues. Everything about the pizza was good but nothing special. It definitely beats the other pizza delivery chain restaurants out there though (cough Domino's and Papa John's*)! Next time I order from here, I would ask for thin crust. Overall, good pizza and good customer service. read more

During this time of Covid, we have been in quarantine quite a bit in order to visit out of state family to help them out, keep them company, make sure they are doing well. We are not usually a 'delivery' sort of family, but for some reason, pizza is the exception and Papa Gino's is right around the corner and we've been getting delivery from them quite a bit over the past year. In the beginning, it was just pizza. I love the cheese. Plain and simple. As time has gone by we've added pepperoni, veg, steak sandwiches and salads to our repertoire. Their steak sandwich is good. We load it up with all the stuff, peppers, onions, mushroom and cheese. You can get it with any combination of those items, so if your not a fan, it's easy to change it up. I use their online portal to order and accrue points toward free pizza, and they even gave me one free cheese pizza during my birth month. That was a pretty sweet deal. There are also usually coupons on the internet if you do a search. We still tip on the original dollar amount, but it's nice to save a few dollars where you can. We always leave a note in the delivery section of the ordering app that we are in a quarantine and to please ring the bell and leave the order on the steps. It is usually highlighted so the driver sees it, and only once did we have a driver wait at the door to hand deliver it. We're not actually ill, so it was no harm done to the driver, we are just taking extra precautions to assure our older and immune compromised family members have no fear when we come to stay. Still, we really appreciate that 99.9% of the time, the drivers have all complied with the request and that one driver was clearly just unaware and was super sweet. All our orders have been delivered hot, all the items requested were in the bags/boxes and the one time we had an issue (no salad dressing maybe, it was a while ago) they sent someone out with the missing item and made it good in about 10 minutes! (I did mention they are just around the corner). So all in all they have really been a help to us during this past year of multiple quarantines. Some days you just don't want to cook! Very disappointed in prices and quality of food at Papa Gino's on Quaker Lane. A small pepperoni pizza with olives cost $15. There were 5 pieces of pepperoni and a sprinkling of olives on it! I also ordered a tuna pocket which had hardly any tuna salad inside it and the lettuce was turning brown in color and was not fresh. The pocket bread was not even a full size half of a full pocket. I called this location to complain to the manager but was given over to a team leader who said all the food was made to corporate specs! She apologized and refunded my money. It's been several years since I've eaten at Papa Gino's and what a disappointment it was. it used to be good. But, they "cheaped out" on the pizza cheese and it was terribly bad. They use door dash for their delivery without telling you. Delivered pizza in a rain/wind storm and left on front doorstep without ringing doorbell (ring confirmed this). I had checked deliver to person (or something similar) but he didn't and even left without ringing doorbell. Pizza box blew open and pizza was cold/wet/ruined. Called store and worker apologized saying that's door dash... pizza ruined, refunded money but no way to get in contact with door dash. Disappointing. I am staying at one of the nearby hotels for the night, and after doing errands all day, I thought "hmmm.... go out to eat, bring something back to the hotel, get something at Stop & Shop, or maybe Papa Gino's??". Sadly, I chose Papa Gino's. Almost 6 bucks for two slices which had practically no taste, and the lure of PG's is the sweet sauce that all of us New Englanders have grown to love (when we crave it). Food is pretty good. One of the best steak and cheeses around. Large steak and cheese, small fries and fountain soda cost me $14. They need to group more subs in a combo meal. $14 for this is too expensive for what you get. This meal should cost no more than $10. read more

I used to go to Papa Gino's a lot when I was in college and they put one on campus. It was fast, easy, and inexpensive. Was it the best pizza ever? Definitely not, but at the same time, it scratched an itch. Fast forward 20 or so years and it seems to be the same now as it was then. I stopped by this particular location while out running errands in Warwick because I had that itch and I also had a coupon for two slices and a medium soda for $4. The place wasn't too busy, it was clean and bright, and the staff was friendly and efficient. My slices came out fairly quickly and were piping hot. Again, not the best pizza ever, but definitely not the worst. Would I stop in again to satisfy a craving? I'm not so sure as the two slice lunch looks to be normally over $6 and I can get two slices and a soda at Pier Pizza for $5 (yes, I am that cheap sometimes), and I think Pier's is definitely superior (also bigger slices). But if I had another coupon and was in the area, I wouldn't rule it out. read more

I was visiting a friend lastnight and he told me he was order pizza for the football games. This was my 2nd and last time eating pizaa from this place. Frozen pizza taste better than PG. Crust was super hard with no real pizza taste. Then they messed his Hawaiian Pizza up, added some spicy thai chiili sauce, onions and pork. If you are a true pizza lover PLEASE stay away from PG, because you will waste your hard earned money. PG please work on better food ingredients if not yall will be closing down. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to go to Papa Gino's for our first anniversary to celebrate, I know it's not a romantic lunch, that's ok that didn't bother us, we are not married we are just a couple that love each other. Anyways, he ordered a cheese burger and fries and I had the turkey club and it was fresh, the bacon was nice and crispy the way I like it. My wife and I have been going here since June of 2012 when we moved here from the Boston area. We really like the Rustic Pizza which is their thin crust. Very disappointing service and mediocre pizza. I've given them two times to get their act together, and both times have been a hose up. The first time I placed an order, everything turned out ok. The pizza is ho-hum, but for convenience sake, I ordered from them a second time. They delivered the pizza and salad within the advised time, but no caesar dressing for the caesar salad. I called to complain and they apologized, giving me a $5 credit on my next order. So I thought I'd give it one more try. Tonight (a Monday evening, no weather issues) I ordered a pizza at 735pm. It finally showed up, luke warm (cheese was congealed--ewwww.) That was the last straw. There are so many other pizza places with better pizza and more customer focused. Went one evening for the all-you-can-eat pizza and pasta for $5.99. Sounded like a great deal. The pizza is plain or pepperoni, the pasta (spaghetti or penne) with or without marinara sauce. Also got a large garden salad. The best part of the meal was the salad. The pizza tastes like poor quality frozen pizza. Not much more to say about that. The pasta was decent quality but with only a choice of marinara sauce only had one bowl. While the price was good for the buffet, with such few options you can barely call it that and based on the quality of food, I would have been better off heating up some (better quality) frozen pizza and boiling some pasta at home. read more

Disappointing and Unrealistic on cooking times I will start by saying I have had pizza here before on two occasions and have been satisfied. On this occasion I called in for a large pizza and arrived on time twenty minutes later. I paid for the pizza and was then told the printer ran out of paper, they lost the order but would put in right away and it would be out in 8 minutes. As I had my two grandchildren waiting for me I say yes. After at least another twenty minutes went by I stepped up to cancel my order and as I was standing the manager said to the person at the counter to give me a 2 liter bottle of soda free if I wanted to pick it out. At that point I took the pizza and left. First had they been more realistic on the actual time to get a pizza I would have asked for a refund and left. If it is 20 minutes then say it is twenty minutes. They should have given my the pizza for free to keep a customer but instead the manager couldn't even take the time to apologize in person and shuffled it off to the poor kid at the register who was taking the brunt from other dissatisfied customers. The one good thing about RI is there are plenty of alternatives. read more
