This location and their staff were nothing short of amazing. I ordered food on a particularly busy night. Their communication was amazing ( I have worked in customer service for over 20 years) I received a phone call that my order may take longer than anticipated ! Communication communication! Is key.) They were literally maybe 10-15 minutes past the anticipated time and my order was delivered by the most polite gentleman. I called the location to give them a huge compliment (and possibly steal the delivery person because of his excellent customer service) only to find out that because they were so busy, the actual OWNER delivered my food!!!! Ordered pizza from here for a small birthday party. Ordered it an hour ahead of time to make sure it would be done (6 pizzas) ordered different toppings on all the pizzas. They we're ready on time (actually 5 minutes early) the pizzas were hot and ready ( no pun intended) and the price was good ($20 less than competitors based on toppings and quantities) pizzas were yummy. After speaking with my attorney it seems that I can't sue this place for making a pizza so good that I ate almost the whole damn thing and could hardly breathe for the next 2 hours from being so full. Ordered the large square Garbage Can with the intent of eating 2 pieces and then having 8 more leftover for other meals. That plan went straight to hell after the first piece. This stuff is good. Really good. So good that I was praying for death after finishing slice number 7. There are still 3 in the box and they're taunting me. We got an ad for a Large pizza meal deal, so we thought we'd give Papa Romano's a try! The special right now is a large one-topping pizza (deep dish, round, or thin crust) along with your choice of cheese bread or cheese sticks and cinnamon sticks for $17.99. Financially, this was a real steal! As far as taste goes, this wasn't anything to write home about...although it's still something to write Yelp about. ;) The difference between the cheese sticks and cheese bread is that I guess the bread is more like a deep dish pizza where the sticks are thinner. They arrived and look like a sauceless cheese pizza. I'm not sure why these are not delicious, as they are sooo cheesy, but they taste like nothing! The marinara they sent along was a little bitter and pretty sweet...too much sugar! We got the standard litmus test pizza...pepperoni...and it was likewise pretty flavorless. They definitely don't skimp on the cheese, though. The crust was supposed to be flavored, but alas, it was plain. The cinnamon sticks were pretty good, but too dry! There's a wispy drizzle of icing that if it were thicker would make these cinnamon pizza crusts amazing! Please use more icing! Pretty please! I used to enjoy coming here to get personal pizzas and lunch combos with my boyfriend up until they tried to accuse us of smelling like marijuana! We arrived on time. They told us 10 mins and when we got there told us another freaking 10 mins and we needed to be somewhere. When my man walked inside to go and pick up our pick-up order, and they had the door open (probably because it was a nice day) so he said it was pretty breezy in there. And ig the manager lady smelled something and proceeded to yell out to him as he was paying , "Is that you? That loud?!!" And my man was definitely shook. How rude. How she blamed him for the smell. He also said that same manager lady was rude to him and other employees as they were all pretty busy and strothat day so may have had a slight attitude. Staff - delivery man and female on the phone would get 5 stars. The pizza arrived promptly and hot with plates and silverware since I am staying in a hotel. The only thing lacking was a tasty pizza but I will give credit for lots of cheese. Unfortunately, the pizza is run of the mill fast food pizza but not all that cheap. This Papa Romano's is under new ownership and the new owner invited me to give it a try on the house. It is much improved and the issues that lost a star are not under the control of the owner. It is my belief that this location will be a very good one. We got four items - an XL deep dish pizza, Bambino Bread, a meatball sub, and an antipasto salad. Total was about $34 including tax, which is a great price for food for a family of five. The old slogan was "When one of the best beats two of the rest" to justify higher prices. I'm glad to see that the prices are now more in line with better pizza chains. Papa Romano's appears to have changed the bread recipe. (I used to work at a different location 30 years ago and know the taste very well.) It improved the taste of the pizza from great to excellent. Good amounts of cheese and toppings and cooked just right. Very flavorful! Unfortunately, it doesn't work for the Bambino Bread. I had it a different location and thought they had used stale dough. Unfortunately, it is now too chewy and a bit bland. Bambino Bread was always my favorite item there, but it just doesn't cut it anymore. Hopefully the new owner will report this back to corporate. The meatball sub was delicious! Good sauce, cheese, and meatballs! The bread tasted good, but needed some crusting up on the outside. I'm not sure if they cook on the foil, but put it directly on the oven to give it a good crunch. The antipasto salad was an antipasto salad. In the 30 years I've been eating at Papa Romano's, salads have never been a highlight. The pasta salad is the only unique one. A Michigan salad would be a good addition to the menu. The service was friendly and everything was ready at the same time, a big improvement over how it had been. I'm glad that I can once again recommend this Papa Romano's! read more
