I work in Mountain view just down the street from this place and I' usually order online to have it delivered, the last 2 times they have not sent my complete order. I tried calling so that I can at least get a refund for the items not sent but they never answer their phone. We enjoyed a traditional brunch during the week, it wasn't busy at all. We had smoked salmon eggs Benedict and French toast, which we shared. The waitress was very nice & brought it out on 2 separate plates without us asking, which is a first for me, scored bonus points. She was also friendly and attentive on checking on us. My husband and I went to try out this new restaurant after hearing about it on Instagram from a foodie review. We went on a Sunday morning around noon. They were not that busy, perhaps because they just opened up about 2 weeks ago. The restaurant is clean and offers both outdoor and inside dining. Our server, Daniel, was really nice and provided excellent service. The food was delicious although it is on the pricy side. I got the torta de chilaquiles which was delicious. My plate didn't come with a side option, however the torta was a pretty good size. My husband got the chorizo burrito which was really good. He sub the side of fruit for hash browns instead. The banana pancakes were so delicious, soft, and moist. The food came out freshly out of the kitchen which made it taste even better. The food is good but parking was HORRIBLE. Our car got towed and we were charged $570. What was equally confusing was that the Papas and Eggs Customer Parking sign is right next to the Tow Parking sign and there are two different tow companies. Be warned of where to park. I ordered the steak omelet with the apple coconut pancakes, and only enjoyed the mango mimosa. The steak omelet, though thankfully not drenched in oil or salty, tasted bland thanks to the lack of seasonings. As for the experience, it was just okay. It felt like a hassle getting our waitresses to the bare minimum like refilling our water when we needed or checking on us to see if we needed anything. The meat was tender and the potatoes were seasoned and crisp. My Dad ordered the steak omelette and said it was good, but a bit cold. The waitress was very attentive to us and came to check up on us a few times. The food was pretty pricey and except for it being a little cold, everything was pretty good. The TacoMania that previously occupied this this location, smack dab in the middle of the legendary "Taco Triangle" of yore, apparently wasn't raking in as much cash as their their other 6 (mostly San Ho ghetto) locations. Foot traffic ain't much at this corner, and I guess Covid was the last straw. So the owners decide to to re-invent it as a mostly "American" style breakfast place. Not a bad move considering the dearth of decent breakfast places in MV. Needing breakfast so badly, I've been open-minded as possible. I've eaten on the patio twice now, and got take-out once. Sorry, but I'll be passing this place up for the time being. 13 dollars for a breakfast burrito??!? Sorry, but that's sky-high even for Silicon Valley. To make it even worse, they once messed up my order and I ended up with a tiny burrito with a few black beans in it for THIRTEEN dollars (plus tax). Do yourself a favor and go kitty-corner to the the old reliable, Los Altos Taqueria. Or even better yet, venture down to Rincon at the corner of Central Expwy and Rengstorff for a fantastic Salvadorean breakfast. I tried one of their lunch items (a tasty patty melt) but the portion size was ridiculously small, totally inappropriate for the price. If you're after American breakfast, brunch, or lunch fair, you're probably better going just a few blocks down the street to Baji's or Bill's. Baji's has always been over-priced but at least they have a better variety on the menu and better service. They also have large outdoor areas. I used to think Bill's (also on Middlefield but in Palo Alto) was over-priced, but considering their quality, portion sizes, and impeccable service, they seem like a bargain now days!! Yes, Papas may have mimosas (so does Bill's) and yes, it's a pretty nice, sunny patio. But guess what? It's not like this location is in an interesting downtown location to people watch or enjoy any other scenery. The building it's in is a low-income apartment complex; kitty corner is a strip mall; accross the street is the most nondescript office building imaginable. In short, this Middlefield location is a light commercial district...not exactly somewhere you want to be hanging out on your time off. Having said that, I would consider it for watching some Saturday morning soccer with friends or something like that. There's good bones here...I'm not gonna give up on them yet. But they definitely need to get their act together....starting with price reductions. read more

I'm usually the late one, but my friend got there 10 mins after I did this time. I don't know how to be the early one. I ended up sitting at a table and ordered some coffee. Then I started looking at my phone. I can't even recall what I was looking at. I was just passing time, but once I realized I was passing time, I stopped looking at my phone. I decided to try and be with time rather than pass it up. I'm not good at being with time, I'm too competitive and always want to be a few strides ahead, but it's hopeless. Nobody ever beats time. To slow down I thought about meditating, but I didn't want to have my eyes closed when my friend got there. Then I would have to explain to him what I was doing. If I was looking at my phone when he arrived there would be nothing to explain. That's a perfectly fine social norm, but if I decided to close my eyes in the middle of a restaurant for a few minutes... I'm the weirdo. Anyways, I decided not to meditate and not look at my phone. Instead I started to people watch. The only problem was there was only one other person at the restaurant. I looked at him for a tiny bit, but he wasn't too entertaining. He was just looking at his phone. I want to find someone to look at me the way that he looked at his phone. Then I'll truly feel seen. Seeing the way he looked at his phone made me miss looking at my phone. I ended up people watching through my phone by looking at the most recent NBA playoff highlights.
