I wish I could give 100! I always find myself at the landing in Renton but never ever tried this gem of a restaurant and I've been missing out bad!.. My buddy is a regular with his significant other so he brought this place to light for me and I'm so thankful because now I'm going to spread the love and tell everyone I know to stop by asap. Food is amazing and came out fast that I was shocked , flavor is jam packed into every bite! Literally! I had the grilled pork chop with fried egg and rice (my favorite rice dish at Vietnamese restaurants) and my buddy had the ox tail pho with the spicy house broth I believe which is a few bucks up charge but it looked amazing as well. In my opinion I rank this restaurant the best Vietnamese restaurant I've been to since the late 90's when china town in Seattle had so much great places but nowadays it's tough to find anything close to the good old days. This place is pretty pricey for pho but it's delicious! My husband is relatively picky about his pho and this is one of his favorites. The broth is very rich and sometimes a bit salty but when you add in a squeeze of lime juice it is perfect. The classic beef pho comes with a lot of meat, which maybe justifies its higher price point. I haven't tried too many other dishes but I also like their beef and oxtail stew. I stopped by this place quite a few time already because I'm the type of person who usually eat at a place for 3-4 times before giving a thorough review. The food is quite decent for it's price and the place itselves is cozy. Moreover, there's usually plenty of parking and it's never too crowded, which makes it a comfortable spot. On this Tuesday, I was pretty disappointed with the service. A female server showed us to our table and was friendly when we first ordered. But after that, she went back to the front desk and stayed glued to her phone. I had to try multiple times just to get her attention for a small request. A few time prior, there were male servers who are actually putting the dedications into their job; just not this time. This made me feel uncomfortable and quite irritated to say the least. There's so many dining options at The Landing (Renton). I've tried so many of them but this place has always been my go to. Today I decided to go with a rice plate and ordered Steak Cubes & Fried Egg. It was incredibly delicious! The steak was cooked perfectly, very juicy and tender. We came here for dinner and was pleasantly surprise. Service was good. They got us the menu and got us seated pretty quickly. After we order, the food came out super quickly as well. Food: we got the tofu appetizer and the coconut chicken rice bowl in the iron pot. The chicken was very tender and flavorful, the tofu was soft on the inside but crispy outside. The only thing was that I couldn't taste the coconut at all and the rice wasn't crispy even though it was in the iron pot. Otherwise, everything was good. Portion was good for the price. Papaya is a cute little Vietnamese restaurant in the Landing. It has such a nice atmosphere - it is cozy without being crowded, great color scheme, and warm hues. I enjoy it! It is more expensive than many other Vietnamese restaurants but I was terribly impressed with the quality of the food. I shared the shrimp noodle rolls as an appetizer and they were fantastic! The rolls were perfectly balanced with shrimp and veggies and noodles with killer peanut sauce. I ordered the garlic beef baguette and was super impressed with it. The bread fell apart a bit, which made the sandwich a bit messy, but the beef was amazingly marinated and tender, the balance again was great, and the sandwich was amazing. I loved it! I drank their secret garden hot tea and I will probably pass on that in the future. It sounded tasty but even after seeping it for the duration of our meal the tea had a very mild flavor. Papaya i one of my go to places when my husband and I are needing a self care meal or just because we had no time to make dinner due to getting off work late. We really enjoy brining friends and family here as well when they visit us from out of state. Pho, spring rolls, bubble teas are our go to items. My mouth waters just writing this review haha. Parking is plentiful but expect to have to walk a little because there is no parking directly in front on busy days they are very efficient in communicating wait time and seating people ASAP after a table becomes available. This review is only for the bun rieu and service here. I came with two of my girl friends for dinner after a nice therapeutic evening of painting at Glazed Art next door. Seated promptly and no wait on a Thursday evening around 7 PM. They have an assortment of dishes to choose from such as pho, rice entrees, vermicelli bowls, specialty items like bun rieu, bun bo hue, and ban xeo. Lots to choose from so you're likely to find something you'd be interested in trying! I was craving bun rieu for some reason. It's labeled as tomato and shrimp noodle soup. I'm used to seeing pork and crab meatballs in bun rieu, but the one at Papaya has small chunks of it floating throughout - which did add quite a bit of flavor. The portion is more than enough, and they give you all the basil, bean sprouts, and shredded lettuce and greens that you add to the soup. The broth was fragrant and flavorful; loved the crab and how the tomato was not the dominant flavor! They did not skimp in terms of the toppings in the dish either. There were several pieces of shrimp and fried tofu. Given the amount that was in this dish, I think it was actually well worth it's price point. I saw other dishes on the menu and would have to agree with other Yelpers that it's more on the pricier side and that you could probably find cheaper elsewhere. Service was good. Water was refilled and checked on in the beginning, although they didn't come back to refill toward the end of the meal. The check came out on one bill, but another server that passed by asked if we would like it split up before we even asked. Overall, $12 for really flavorful bun rieu that left me very full at the end is a checkmark in my book! read more

3 words: FAST, FRESH AND YUM! I've eaten here 30+ times and I've ordered the same thing 95% of the time, the Rib Eye Noodle Bowl with delite option (substitute for noodles). I highly recommend it. The fresh rolls are excellent!! A good appetizer to share before dinner. We've sometimes gotten two orders as a meal and have been completely satisfied. For as much as I come here, I don't know any of the waitstaff. They provide the basics: prompt seating, quick food prep and out you go. It's more "no frills" in that regard. What they didn't know was we also had 4 kids with us and they didn't say anything! They were so quick with our ordering and accommodating! I applaud them! This is not my favorite pho in Renton - or I've gotten in general. The building is beautiful and in a prime (expensive) location so maybe they are forced to settle for less quality ingredients. The broth is pretty bland. Good pho broth is dynamic and multidimensional in flavor. I would have had to dump a bucket of hoisin sauce in that broth to make half as savory/delicious as the stuff I got in that "rustic" looking building across town. The steak is strange. It comes raw to cook in the broth (the traditional, better way so no foul on this) but the meat is so gamey and fatty you can't tell when it's cooked. So it's kind of got like this "raw" texture that I don't feel good about. Yeah, not my cup of tea at all. They were just straight up mostly pork and some shrimp). I was back in town and I decided to visit and see how business was during Covid. They are Covid compliant with tables spaces and customers distancing. They also appeared to be having a successful carry out business. The cup of wonton soup was tasty. Even though a cup was not listed they accommodated my request. That was a meal in itself.
