Giving this place a solid 4.5, for being a corner store it has some great eats including Dole Whip! We just met a bunch of friends for brunch on the last Saturday of the month, Soulfood Sunday. They have a list of combos that are huge portions for at least 2-3 meals? My husband got the fried catfish with choice of 3 sides & I got the 3 wings with 3 sides combo. The catfish was moist on the inside & light & crisp with a cornmeal crust on the outside. 2 big filets in his combo with 3 sides, he chose Mac & cheese, collard greens with turkey neck meat(no pork) & candied yams...all so tasty & huge portions. The special today was chicken etouffee served on a bed of white rice for $13! The gravy was rich & flavorful, the chicken was tender. So tasty...they also have a combo with BBQ ribs that are so tender the meat falls off the bone clean! All combos also come with a square slice of cornbread. Their cornbread is more cake like & sweet style. The owner Kenny is nice & hospitable, attentive always making sure everything is ok. I was too full for Dole Whip today but they had original pineapple flavor & watermelon as well...the 2nd flavor changes periodically but they always have pineapple. Soulfood Sunday is always the last Sunday of the month but they always have wings, catfish, grilled sandwiches & more on the daily & they even have a tables & chairs as well as a high counter seating along the window. Stop by for some hearty tasty eats! The store side of the shop has some really great products...way better than any corner store you've stepped foot in, very nice shop. I have enjoyed Rain City Market being a presence in DT Renton because they serve the function of a bodega - convenience store, hot/cold deli, and provide a meeting space for the community. It warms my heart to see young families gathering on the weekends, students stopping in for a snack, older people having their morning coffee and newspaper, and workers grabbing a quick lunch. I especially love their Dole whip and fried chicken for a fun snack! This Market is also involved in a lot of the local events and efforts to strengthen the community and draw in business to the area, so you'll see them participating in dragon themed art competitions, the annual dragon egg hunt, and other cool events. As others have noted, parking can be tricky and limited. But the local park and ride is one building over, as are lots of neighborhood street parking, and some private lot parking within walking distance. read more

They sell grocery items too as well as support other local entrepreneurs as I saw a local candle companies products for sale that I've purchased from. The food here was made fresh to order. The pricing and portion is great here. I enjoyed the variety on the menu. I got a breakfast burrito with turkey, the turkey was diced into small cubes. Everything was hot when we got our food. Even the chicken that sits in the warmer was still hot when we ate it. The chopped cheese was good as well, the flavors on it were to my liking. I'd definitely come check this spot out if you're in the area. They also provide a stamp card. The chicken wing batter was good, although I wish it did have a little bit of salt on it. No complaints! I came in for a quick lunch and was surprised by really good fried chicken wings - such thick wings and nice crispy hot coating. Among choice of sides i got Mac and Cheese which was Excellent ! So much flavor, big serving in a cup. Service was fast and friendly, clean and bright sitting area with big windows a few tables or counter at the window. Even a little sidewalk tables. There's also an extensive drink selection in the refrigerator case along with other takeout foods, salads etc. and Small grocery section. This local gem on the corner of the Renton transit center is home for your local necessities. They offer local beers and wine, have a small grocery store and the food is delicious! Love the food here! The "Renton Philly" is a must try and the "Chicken Wings" are fire! It's in downtown Renton and you can easily find street parking. Just place your order at the counter and wait for your number to be called and you're set. I believe the owner does all the cooking and I appreciated how he checked on me to see if the food came out good. I gave him the thumbs up! While Rain City does have food on the pricier side, they don't skimp on the quality of their ingredients or their hot sauce. Ok, this place is just down the block from my place and as a local-centric supporter of all that's good for small businesses, I had/have to check it out. The space: really good. The exterior was recently revitalized & repainted which is a huge boost to that public-facing appeal. The interior is pretty simple, clean & basic & bright with white and quite light to one's delight. Fridge goods, shelf-stable goods, toiletries, household items and a seating area that overlooks the intersection for people & car watching. The selection/food: good stuff. First on my agenda is the vegan options. Super decent selection consisting of a handful of munchies, deli sides and fridge items. Besides that, they have a full deli menu and regular items you'd find at places like Fred Meyer or Safeway. The staff: friendly & nice. I've interacted with a few different folks and they're all generally nice, chill & friendly people. Overall, solid go-to one-stop charming lil corner shop for lots of staples and unique items. Parking is tricky, there are a few street parking or else you may have to find a public parking near by! It's a big space. Space is quite good. There are tables to sit and have food. Casual ambiance, but just really good. It's clean and well maintained. You can buy perishable fridge food and household items as well. Their menu is more than decent. Plenty of sandwich options. We tried the Renton Philly and Chop cheese. It's not a typical fast food place where you get your food in no time. They prepared the food and served hot! We loved it! Highly recommend Renton Philly! I found this place on yelp as we were driving looking for a breakfast spot The one we were going to go to was closed for whatever reason. So, we headed to Rain City. This place is cool. Great music, the chef was super cool. We had the breakfast plate; 3 eggs over easy, 3 turkey patties, and hand cut potato's and toast. OMG it was so good. I was impressed and so happy to get a hot, fresh breakfast. We also tried the Philly, and the mac and cheese. We took that to go for later. I cannot recommend this place enough. It's on a fresh roll. It's tender and it's juicy. Au jus was hot and flavorful. Dang I want another. The fries are meaty cooked to perfection and served hot! They have a seasoning on them that is to much for me but I love the fry type. Staff is friendly and helpful. The grill/deli is clean there are few tables to eat at. It's a corner market downtown Renton so parking isn't easy but there is a lot on the side street about a block up. But if you need a few groceries or beverages you can get it all! read more
