I feel Papaya has Authentic food and for the most part the service was very good. They have a low carb option for the Pho' soup made with Zucchini as noodles. It's really good. I was a little disappointed that one time I needed to substitute broccoli for coleslaw on a meal as I have a food sensitivity and they charged me $2.00 for the sub when previously they didn't. read more

The best pho in Renton, in my opinion. The food is great, the staff is always upbeat and friendly, the store is clean and well maintained, and the decor is interesting as well. The only down side is that it's at the Landing, a busy shopping center and it doesn't have parking right up front, which makes it harder if you're just planning to pick up your food to go. But it also means that it's a great place to bring your friends if you're going to catch a movie or do some other shopping down there. Keep up the good work! read more

I was running some errands in the Landing and came across this place. Vietnamese sounded good so I decided to get some takeout from here. I ordered the shrimp fresh spring rolls and the lemongrass pork sandwich. The interior was pretty nice and the staff were friendly. My food took about 10 minutes or so to get. The food was forgettable. The fresh spring rolls were really skinny. They tasted fine, but they were so tiny that I was disappointed. Their peanut sauce wasn't that great either. The sandwich was just okay. The pork was tasty. But the bread was not good. I've had really good banh mi before and the bread does make a difference. And there could've been more pickled veggies too. The sandwich was also really expensive at $10. It was definitely a big sandwich, but it was mostly (not good) bread. I probably wouldn't come back here - the food was not bad, but there are so many better options out there. I liked the service and it has a great location though. read more

I will never come back to this place. The service was that horrible! First reason: When we got there, we asked for a table for 2. The waitress said the wait will be about 20-25 minutes. I saw a clean table with two chairs and said "this table is open, can we sit here". The waitress looked at us and didn't say anything, looked over to another woman, who sat at another 2 person table and asked if she wanted to sit at the table I pointed out instead. 2 minutes later, that woman left. Second reason: the same waitress who gave my table away came over and said, "okay, what do you want" in the most b**** tone known to man kind. Third reason: I asked for a Togo box, I never received one. The waitress went to check up on some other table 3 times before delivering the check to us with no Togo box. I had to ask for one again. Last reason: I felt discrimated. The service I received was way yyyyy different from the service they provided to their other guests that were not asian. My table, after they delivered the food to us, they never once came back and asked how we were doing or offer to fill our water glass. A table with white Americans, the server went over 3 times asking how they were, filled their water glass and smiled. I should have walked out the moment the waitress disregarded us and offered the table (I saw that had no one and was cleaned) to someone who was already sitting at a table. The food is okay, but the service was the most horrendous thing I have ever experienced. 1 star for the food. read more

I have been visiting this place for years now. The same few people have been working there and I think they do a great job. I don't live in Renton anymore, but if i visit, I will almost always end up eating here. There are never super busy and always seat you almost right away, and bring water and take your order ASAP. Pretty traditional Vietnamese menu but they do have a "D-Lite" option which replaces your carbs (noodles) with zucchini/mushroom mix, which is cool. Some of the pho options are kind of silly, like charging extra for "spicy broth" or some of the other additions are unnecessary. I do actually really love their Pho here though! I disagree with people saying the pho isn't great. I've eaten a lot of pho around Seattle, and yeah of course down in the U-District area there is fantastic pho for like $5 but for Renton and surrounding area, I think the pho here is great. I will say the beef quality and overall pho quality and value has dropped a little bit over the few years I've been visiting, but I still think it's tasty. Worth stopping in. I mean the place next door, Thai 65, has been SHUT DOWN in the past due to health violations, so yeah, I'd rather go here. It's relatively inexpensive, the staff is great, the food is fast, hot, and yummu and there is plenty of seating. read more

We love eating at Papaya. We eat here every other week at least. Our new favorite dish is the chicken pho delight options that is made with zucchini noodles! My fiance and I are in love with this dish. We tried it since we were on the 17 day diet and I was tired of cooking everyday. We are going back tonight for that same thing. I love how quiet and peaceful it is in here. The food is reasonably priced and the service was excellent. My husband and I popped by for a light lunch before shopping and our food was ready in a few minutes. Their Heven Scent tea was delicious and perfect for the snow flurries flying by outside. I ate here this afternoon. The papaya dish and tofu dish were delicious. The spring rolls with tofu were just a delight to enjoy. The fish sauce was not tangy or spicy but just right. Odd to see so many negative reviews. They were all very nice to us, and the food was great. Love their low carb options. The rice salad with cabbage and pork was awesome. I'm not a pho lover, but the beef and zucchini version was as good as the regular and much healthier. BOEING BEWARE!! This is a followup on Manuel's review as I was a member of that party. After we finished eating, I went inside to speak with the guy who refused us service and then treated us very rudely after we complied with his demand. I spoke with a lady at the hostess stand as he wasn't in sight to see if I could speak with him. Her response was that she wasn't sure because he was "busy managing." Really? He came over and I told him that we came to his restaurant bringing him about $200 dollars in business and that the way he treated us was completely inappropriate. As a previous restaurant manager and through all of our experiences, it made no sense the way he responded and continued to behave. As he knew we are Boeing employees, he told me, "You Boeing employees think you can go around and do whatever you want." Like move some tables together? I let him know that he definitely lost my business in the future and he said it didn't matter--that his business would not be impacted if we didn't return to it. So, to fellow Boeing employees, be aware of the lack of respect this manager has for your patronization of his business. And to all, just take note that this management simply does not understand what it means to serve their [paying] customers. read more

Let me start off by saying that I'm very sad I didn't get to try the pho here. My friends and I were just looking to get some bubble tea, and that we did! I noticed how modern and clean this place was, and they even have quite a bit of outdoor seating. When we walked in, we told the greeter that we only wanted drinks but she gave us all a food menu as well, when we certainly repeated quite a few times we just wanted drinks..... Lol. I ordered the taro bubble tea with jelly, as that's usually my safe go to. However, they did have a lavender flavor and matcha flavor that I really wanted to try, but wasn't brave enough to do so. The taro was kind of disappointing as it was kind of bland. Really not much sweetness or flavor to it at all. The jelly was good. My boyfriend ordered the Thai Iced Tea and as always, that was amazing. We ordered from Papaya tonight and wow was it delicious! I had the oxtail and rare steak pho and the oxtail was falling off the bone and the broth tasted amazing. My son got the basil chicken fried rice and devoured the entire thing. It was also full of flavor. We also split the shrimp and pork crispy rolls and they were to die for. I loved the dipping sauce. Great service here from 3 different wait staff on a busy Friday night after coming from another place where we weren't even acknowledged. I was not a fan of the Sake-Tini but someone who likes sake more than I might be. We've been here several times, tried a few different items off the menu, and love their noodle salads most. I spent a long time deciding whether or not I would write a review for Papaya. I went back and forth in debating what I would say. First of all I love banh mi and they do make a great banh mi sandwich and sweet potato fries. This is where I will stop with compliments because the service was horrible and inexcusable. I used to go here and just get my food to go, for no other reason except convenience. I brought my friend from out of town with me to sit down and try their pho, not only did we both get sick from the food we were ignored the entire time by our waiter and when we requested water it never came. For what should have been a 30minute lunch date turned into and excruciatingly long hour and a half torture. We ended up grabbing our own to go boxes and leaving. After that experience I didn't write off Papaya but instead just decided to continue with my to go ordering and get the banh mi since it seemed to be a safe option. I went back a couple of times and then on my third visit back one of the waiters recognized me come in and when he saw me waiting to make my order got up from HIS break to assist me (nicest thing ever, THAT is great service). Anywho I placed my order and then after he went to go say something to whomever was supposed to be working about a customer standing and waiting to order unattended HE got reprimanded in front of me and another couple who was dining (appalling)! The nice waiter ended up being told to leave or he walked out, one of the two (frankly, I hope he quit because no amount of money is worth being treated that way when he was only trying to help and doing it off the clock no less). As I sat and waited for my order the other waiter who was supposed to be helping at the time who yelled at the nice waiter came out to the waiting area and began yelling at me and asking if I felt ignored (I just looked at him as if this was some sort of bad dream, I mean honestly WHO does that to a customer. I told him I had been waiting awhile and it wasnt a big deal because the other guy was nice enough to take time to help me). Anyways long story short after his rant at me and me asking another waiter to speak to a manager because this guy was making me feel uncomfortable and he apparently thought it was appropriate to yell at customers the assistant manager comes out arm in arm with the guy who had just yelled at me and his co worker. I asked her if I could please speak to ONLY her so that I could explain the situation because Im pretty sure that nice waiter was fired or something wierd happened and PLUS that other guy was clearly unstable and wanting a fight. She sat down along with him AFTER I had just said I dont want him there. Im disgusted at their managment and will NEVER be back. I work in the service industry and I respect when someone is nice enough to go out of their way in the work place or life in general but when I see someone treated the way that that nice waiter was treated and then the unprofessionalism of the other guy and assistant manager screw that, its not worth it. They tried to shove my money back at me as if it would make up for what I just witnessed but I'm sorry $10 doesn't buy you manners. Good luck in the future, you will need it. I hope that nice waiter has since left because no body deserves to be treated that way. read more

This is hands down my favorite place to eat at the landing! Their pho is sooo good! I love that they have an option to sub the vermicelli noodles for zucchini noodles, which are delicious! If I don't want a hot bowl of pho, my go to is the salad noodle bowls (just like pho, but without the hot broth). Their lemongrass tofu bowl is the best! I come here at least once a week to get it! :] I always see the same staff, they're very nice and service is fast! Last 30 for 30!!: I think Mandy S is right that this is for newbies of Vietnamese food. It's a simple restaurant in a very big business corporate area. I had the vegetarian crepe and it was way too crunchy. I like my Vietnamese crepes to be more egg/omelette-like and this was more like a giant chip. Also, the enoiki mushrooms were stuck together in a mush and I would have to say that it was overpriced for $12. It was the same price as the soft shell crab, after all!! The fish sauce mixture left a little to be desired. My friend said he liked his chicken curry. This is an ok restaurant. I prefer Tamarind Tree and Long but its ok. read more

POOR- Just received some of the worst customer service in my entire life. My boyfriend, a very frequent coconut bubble tea drinker, ordered a coconut bubble tea here and when he received it, he was immediately skeptical because the beverage was an off white color, unlike normal. After taking a few sips we both agreed the bubble tea didn't taste like coconut so we went back inside and kindly asked the host if the bubble tea was in fact coconut because it didn't taste that way and MUCH to our surprise he began arguing with us telling us we were wrong and that he wouldn't do anything about it. He then told us we could have our money and couldn't not purchase anything else from them, including a different bubble tea beverage. We had the crepes. They were super greasy, didn't have much flavor, and were very messy to eat. They're served in a basket, and the oil drips through onto the table. After they took our plates away they just wiped the table with a napkin, leaving a film of grease over the entire table. We also didn't like the fact that they had sports TV going on two big screens on the dining room wall. Whenever I go to a Vietnamese restaurant I generally order pork chops. Here I ordered their GRILLED LEMONGRASS PORK CHOP & FRIED EGG. It was very tasty, however, way too oily. My friend and I both ordered BUBBLE TEA and the waitress mixed our drink orders but my friend corrected the waitress...odd, shouldn't they know which drink is which?! Maybe the waitress was new? Anyhow, I ordered their LAVENDER BUBBLE TEA with LYCHEE JELLY. It didn't taste like anything lavender at all so I would not recommend that one.
