Papillon Bakery never disappoints! The bakery is spotless, beautifully organized, and the display cases are filled with fresh pastries and desserts. The staff was welcoming, and everything looked fresh and well-made. It's a great spot whether you're picking up pastries for yourself or bringing treats to share. I'll definitely be coming back!

I love, love, love their Bird's Milk Cake! It satisfies this indulgent and fudge craving I get once in a while. Hands down, I think they have one of the best Honey Cakes with the fudge layer on top aka Birds Milk Cake. This is my third time trying the dessert, and it was unanimous that it is a must-get in the area. They honey cake layers are moist, you can't think of it as a normal fluffy cake, it's more on the dense side. The fudge layer has a nice, rich chocolate, and not overwhelmingly sweet taste that you want more of. The smaller size they have is an actual full small cake $25 that will feed 12-16 people. You don't need large servings of this dessert as it's very rich. Service is nice. Small parking lot. Thank you Papillon International Bakery!

Nothing beats the original location (Hollywood) of an LA institution, especially when it's successfully branched out to other areas (Glendale, NoHo, Northridge). I arrived early on a Saturday morning and treated myself to an assortment of their best recommendations: Dulce de leche ponchik, minced beef empanada, potato perashki, and a (cream) cheese roll. I waited ~10 minutes for everything to be made hot and fresh, burning the roof of my mouth in excitement -- and I'd do it again. Dulce de leche ponchik was the best caramel donut I could ever dream of. There's at least 2 generous tablespoons of molten lava deliciousness in one ponchik: it spilled over into the box! Potato perashki is how I burned my mouth: flavorful, salty, herbaceous. Beef empanada was fried to golden brown perfection, full of velvety minced beef with small pieces of potato (corned beef hash could never). The (cream) cheese roll was not too sweet, smooth and rich in flakey pastry. Don't sleep on the seasoning salt offered for savory items either: it puts Lawry's to shame. I happily devoured my box of reasonably priced treats on the small outdoor patio, curious to know if I had arrived later what else might've been on display in the bakery cases. Nice to see how clean, calm, and friendly the manager was with long-time customers picking up catering orders. Porto's has golden boxes; Papillon has bright turquoise ones. Parking is available in their adjoining lot though it gets crowded with nearby businesses easily.

The first time I tried these churros, they were given to us as a holiday gift and they were so good we had to come in ourselves for more. We arrived about 10 minutes before closing, and they still made everything fresh, which we really appreciated. The only hiccup was that we ordered a cheese roll but ended up with Oreo filled churros instead (didn't realize until we got home). Guess that just means we have an excuse to go back! They also sell fresh tea bags beautifully packaged in a box that displays each flavor individually perfect for gifting.

Long live bakeries! I had both the custard and nutella ponchiks (separate times because they're hefty) and prefer the nutella. Because these donuts are filled to the brim, they can tend on the sweet side. They come out hot, made to order, and are dusted in powdered sugar. I just want more of the dough which is almost mochi-type chewy and has a thin crust. Doesn't make my list of peak donuts, but they're solid.

This place is our absolute favorite when we're craving something sweet in the LA area. We're obsessed with their custard-filled ponchiks, and the Nutella ones are always a hit--especially with the kids in our family. These ponchiks are made fresh to order and come out warm, soft, and dusted with powdered sugar.

A delicious dessert is what you can expect. Get their dubai chocolate ponchik (off menu). They also have great savory options!

I was in the area for a little bit and stumbled upon this bakery! I was really impressed. They're conveniently located in East Hollywood and have a wide variety of Armenian baked goods. As someone who isn't familiar with Armenian food, I was a little overwhelmed by the choice, but the staff was really helpful and suggested the Ponchik to me. I tried the nutella one and it was really good. The staff at this bakery were immensely considerate and welcoming. Overall, I recommend Papillon if you're in the area. The parking doesn't seem to bad depending on where you are and there's tons of local street parking as well.

Amazing spot ran by a super friendly lady. She saw that we're a bit lost and helped us picked what we should order: the Ponchik and the Perashki. Both of which were FANTASTIC. Flavors were bomb, not too sweet or salty. Freshness was also at their peak since they made everything to order. There are a couple of small seatings inside and outside. A very charming place to grab some treats or order a bunch for home!

If you were cruising through Hollywood Blvd you might miss this can't miss bakery! The signage outside says OPEN but I didn't find the words "bakery" outside- good thing my husband was working 3 minutes away and I was searching Yelp for somewhere to have lunch. Of course, just like me and my "bad food" choices I would select a bakery for lunch lol! This bakery is very clean and well organized with a variety of treats to choose from. I chose pretty much one of everything because well "variety is the spice of life" and I love me some spice! Everything was baked fresh to order and was warm and gooey about 10 minutes after we ordered. I told the lady who took our order that it was our first time there and she gave us a free Napoleon. Super sweet and great for business! This will be on my list of places to visit every time I'm in this area.

Papillion International Bakery. Really. You don't see that until you get close and look at the sign written on the window.

Really good, warm, flaky cheese roll. The front made me think I was at the wrong place, or that it closed and reopened as something else. But, no, this really is Papillion. (See photo.)

I think Papillon is Armenian which I believe has European cuisine, as Armenia is considered geographically to be within Western Asia (the Middle East) and the South Caucasus region. Sitting within the mountainous Armenian Highland, it acts as a transcontinental bridge between Eastern Europe and Asia. Their Piroshki is long and thin, whereas I'm accustomed to them being robust short stocky and round almost resembling a giant baked potato in size and shape. So these look like a "Chinese Donut" a.k.a. Youtiao (油条) in size and shape, same girth but length maybe 6"-8" long. What I liked is the filling of the Beef was minced ground beef with sauteed onion bits mixed into a blend and seasoned with a bit of spice but overall was very moist and juicy and the fried dough was very good. So, I'd recommend that. Oddly, I tried the Beef and Potato reluctantly thinking the pure beef option was going to be better... and the Potato was soft and perfect so I'm thinking they're equally good depending on your mood. I tried the beef empanada, and it was very good, similar flavor of the beef empanada to the piroshki but not exactly the same, otherwise I might say the empanada is bigger and gives more protein of the ground beef. The desert shaped like a peach fruit was very good. It reminded me of Asian style deserts where they're not overly sweet and has a healthy refreshing taste more so than being too overwhelming with thick sugary creams. I found out they have multiple locations. It feels maybe the Armenian and Russian community in So Cal are more toward this area and The Valley, so I do have to take what could be a 60-90 minute journey to come here, and even longer of a commute to their other locations. I think they'd do well in the SBBC (South Bay Beach Cities) down South past Santa Monica but before Long Beach and Orange County. I'd recommend this place for the food and service.

The service was attentive, and the menu felt thoughtfully curated. We came for a group dinner and shared several dishes across the menu. Service was attentive and friendly. Everything we ordered was excellent. What impressed me most was how the kitchen balances creativity without overcomplicating the flavors. The basil panna cotta, for example, was elegant and refreshing, with just the right hint of basil that elevated the dessert without overpowering it. My favorite dish of the night was the crudo. The combination of fresh fish and bright lemon flavors made it incredibly refreshing and satisfying. The Polpette al Tartufo was another standout- the truffle sauce was rich, creamy, and deeply flavorful. It's the kind of dish that demands extra bread for scarpetta. The pastas were all beautifully executed and cooked to the perfect texture. The pesto gnocchi was soft and pillowy, soaking up every bit of the vibrant green sauce. The squid ink spaghetti was perfectly al dente and packed with flavor. From the bread to the appetizers, pasta, and dessert, every course was well executed. Food arrived promptly throughout the meal, and the pacing never felt rushed or slow. They also have an excellent wine selection for anyone looking to pair a bottle with their meal. A no-brainer return for me. I'd happily come back for either lunch or dinner whenever I'm craving quality Italian food.
