But after taking the first time, I was pleasantly surprised. The bread was very doughy and had that nice texture to it that just went so well with the cinnamon, and also the toppings on it just pulled it all together. I was vegan a long time ago and as of recently I find myself reconnecting with morals and values that are important to me (supporting small businesses and eating more plant based) Anyways, We ordered a cinnamon roll with crème brûlée, and a lemon berry coffee cake. Every last bite of what we got was amazing. The cinnamon roll was warm and sweet and was nicely complemented by the buttery and slightly tart frosting. The lemon berry coffee cake had a similar balance of flavor and was moist. Needless to say it was devoured. The staff were super friendly and made funny cute jokes. Do not get anything with chocolate on it. They use chocolate syrup that tastes like it's from a Hershey's bottle from the grocery store (i.e., artificial and low-quality). Decided to order these in on a whim and I shouldn't have bothered. We got the baby buns, which come in an order of three with one frosting. No way to pay extra for an additional frosting, so we had to get another three to try a second frosting. First strike for them, since I would have paid to try several frostings! As it turns out, good thing I didn't, since the two I got tasted almost exactly the same. The baby buns are basically pre-packaged cinnamon rolls like you'd get from a vending machine. Cold and mostly flavorless. We thought the frosting would help, and it does in the sense that it keeps the "cinnamon roll" (note use of quotes) from tasting like dry vending machine buns. But the frosting is nothing like I'd expect, even from the grocery. Cream cheese tasted like just regular old overly-sweet buttercream, and the caramel tasted ... almost exactly like the "cream cheese" (note use of quotes) with the smell of caramel added in. I'm mad at myself for ordering these, because I cannot believe they came from a bakery/store that allegedly specializes in cinnamon rolls. If our mistake was ordering the baby buns instead of the traditional cinnamon rolls, shame on this place for not making the babies warm, wonderful smaller versions of the regular size. Lately, a number of Yelpers have been posting pics from Cinnaholic. I happened to be in the area and decided to pop in and check it out. This store is located in an outdoor plaza with Levant Bistro, The Habit, and a few other shops, so depending on the time of day parking can be tough. I was fortunate to snag the last available spot in the lot. (Street parking is also available.) When I walked in, I was greeted by the delightful smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls. Mmmmm. I was excited when I discovered that these gourmet goodies are 100% vegan, dairy & lactose free, and egg-free. You can order one of the shop's signature creations or create your own by mixing & matching a variety of different frostings and toppings. I was having a difficult time making a decision because everything sounded Yummy. I finally decided on the Caramel Apple Pie, which was topped with caramel icing, fresh apples, pecans, pie pieces, and a caramel drizzle. The incredibly sweet Nardos, said she would prepare it for me. Just as I was getting ready to pay I had a mini panic attack because I couldn't find my credit card and didn't have any cash. I asked if they accepted Apple Pay and, thankfully, they do. However, I had no clue how to use it. Susan was so kind and patient and she walked me through the process. Crisis averted, I couldn't wait to dig in. When I got home the cinnamon roll was still warm. I took a bite and oh my! It tasted like warm apple pie. I couldn't believe how yummy it was. I've had other cinnamon rolls and they were always a disappointment and a majority of times also dry. This one was perfect! Slightly crispy on the edges, soft fluffy interior, and a gooey center.
