So, we arrived at the Speakeasy around 7pm. They were just opening for the evening. We did have to find the door (like most speakeasys) but once we called, one of the staff (gosh, I don't remember his name) met us on our walk to flag us in the right direction (green flag 1). Next was the entry: nice music, nice ambience, beautifully decorated (green flag 2). The green flags just kept coming. We had such an amazing time eating and talking the with staff, that we took very few photos. The bartender/server/comedian/all around cool human, Symphony, was AMAZING!!! The Owner, Monica, came over and talked to us. We told her that we drove in from DC, just to be there that evening. I had a smoky Bourbon Bloom, the truffle frites and cognac wings-delish! My two sisters had the restaurant week specials that came with a meat, two sides and dessert; they both cleaned their plates. This never happens! There was nothing left on the plates or in the glasses! 50/10!!! The whole situation was just a really cool vibe! We will CERTAINLY return! 3 entrees, 3 drinks, 1 soda around 188$ with 18% gratuity included. Let me just double say, these wings alone are worth a return trip! We came to check the restaurant out on a Thursday for restaurant week. While some things went good. Other things unforunately missed the mark. What went well: Though there was only one waiter who also was serving as the bartender, the service was quite good. She checked on us a few times and kept us informed. What missed the mark: Food: Though there was only a few people in the establishment, it took over 45mins for us to get out appetizers which were shrimp cocktail and spinach artichoke dip. While they tasted good seems like a long time to wait for these ideas. When our 2nd course came out, they were both cold. We both ordered the beef short rib with mash potatoes and carrots. The mash potatoes and carrots were literally cold with the beef short rib being lukewarm. At this point we asked if they could just wrap it up for us to take home as we had been there 1.5hrs at this time. I will say when I got it home and warmed it up it was quite good. Lastly for food they missed the mark as they kept running out due to delivery/pickup options we were told. Seems crazy to me to keep filling takeout orders if you already offered it to those sitting in the restaurant but hey. Not sure we will be back but we may give it another try since the food at least did have a good taste. read more

I FINALLY made it to this establishment and loved it!! A lil difficult to locate, but aren't most Speakeasy's. As soon as I entered, it was an oooh and ahhh moment. The place is so pretty, mystique, and warm. I made reservations in advance. We sat at the bar. Shortly after, we were greeted by Dion who was super cool, personable, and professional. Collectively, we ordered the following during Cocoon "Papi" Hour. Cognac Kissed Wings - Good flavor, temp was lukewarm. Truffle Fries - Very good. Moscato - Refreshing Hot Toddy - Pretty great! Perfectly concocted. Blissful Brussels - Very good! Crispy. Lamb Chops - Great size, delish flavor. I am looking forward to returning back soon. Specifically for brunch. I've heard amazing things about brunch. I'm so glad we visited this neighborhood gem. read more

I visited this spot for an event being hosted here. The space was very cute, dimly lit, great Playlist going ... I think it may be a speakeasy, as the entrance was only marked by a butterfly on a plain black door. I enjoyed my cocktail , and I saw some folks eating wings that looked pretty good too. read more

I been trying to go here for months and had the opportunity to have lunch there . First the Food ce Tra o had was amazing. It was not your regular ice tea. I would recommend anyone to get it. Secondly it's nice and cozy. It would be great for couples . Finally the food . I got a Ruben. And it put together so nicely and the corn beef was lean . I loved it . I can't believe this spot has been here for a year! It's time we showed it some love! Tips about this spot: On Tuesdays after March 18, there Hot Topic Tuesdays with chalupas and tacos. Wednesdays have Wednesday Winedowns, with discounts on wine and whisky. And on Fridays there is Karaoke! I stumbled upon this cafe while looking for a warm cup of coffee. The inside is absolutely gorgeous, covered with lush plants and velvet seating. I was greeted by the owners who also run Butch's Bistro over in Patterson. They were an absolute delight and very attentive. I ordered a large coffee, nothing fancy. The coffee here is French pressed and medium roast. After striking up a conversation with the couple beside me, I was invited to drink champagne with them as well. I ended up spending over an hour just chatting with everyone there, and it was so refreshing. I wish I came with an appetite, because the food smelt so good! The couple beside me ordered Shrimp & Grits, and a thick Ruben, which by the smell made me regret my breakfast this morning, haha. I definitely will be returning to try the food! ;) read more

I really wanted to love this place. Its launch on social media gave me really high hopes but I really fell short. I love the location/speakeasy feel but it works against the restaurant because seating is super limited. We arrived around 1145 and were seated at the bar because we didn't have a reservation which was not a problem. There was music so I was excited about the potential of the vibe. The use QR codes for the menu. The brunch menu is very simple with some breakfast staples. They have $25 bottomless mimosas and lemon drop flights. We ordered the mimosas. We ordered a little while later... the couple next to us had been here for a moment and it was still about 30min after we arrived that they received their food... cold. They sent it back... which would apparently lead to a delay in our food. Drink refills were slow and at one point we weren't given a choice in juice just whatever he wanted to make. The couple next to us got their food, complained that shrimp and grits were salty. Another 10min later I got my food but my friend didn't get hers. I opted to wait for her which took maybe 5-7 more min. I had the chicken strips and waffles. The strips are out of the bag and were soft, kind of like the grease wasn't hot enough. The waffles were ok. My friend had the French toast meal, the bacon appeared to be pre-cooked. She got syrup from our new friends since she wasn't given any. I ordered a side of bacon and never received it which I'm perfectly ok with. The bartender left a lot to be desired in attentiveness, attitude, and overall customer service. I never want to disparage a new business especially not a black business but this experience fell so far short. Maybe with time and training things will improve but as of right now it's a no for me. I highly recommend a reservation... a group of 6 was turned away because they didn't have a reservation and the bar couldn't accommodate even though the restaurant wasn't full. read more

The people who own the place are very friendly, but the prices are overrated. I went there today for lunch, and I saw someone with wings. I decided to order the wings and was told there were no more and was around 1 something. I decided to get the truffle fries. Now the menu that is on the counter said they were $10.00, and then I am supposed to get a 10% discount because I work across from the building. I get the receipt and ask where my discount is. The lady behind the counter takes the receipt and then gives me another one with the same price. I also asked about the menu that is on the counter and was told that was the happy hour menu, which is not specified on the menu. I try my best to really support a black owned business, but they lost my business. My coworker who was also there later told me he was over charged for his wings and drink. I had high hopes for Papillons Cocoon but it was a miss for me! The wings were fried way too hard, we received drinks that had old orange juice in it, and the crepes were not great - way too much grand marnier. They said they cannot cook the lamb chops any way but medium well, which is odd because cooking red meat past medium degrades the quality. The only food I enjoyed was the truffle fries and the crab croquettes. Food and drinks came out kind of slow. Probably wouldn't visit again. read more

Overall experience - highly disappointing. My friends and I found out about this place from Instagram, and it seemed like it would be a good vibe and place for us to get together for brunch. We arrived and immediately liked the vibe/ambiance- it has speakeasy feel to it. There was a nice playlist of music going but very loud. So, if you're looking for something a little more intimate where you can have a conversation, I would not recommend this place for brunch. The music was so loud that I had to practically yell to talk to my friends. It took over 90 min for us to receive our food. Keep in mind, it's a very basic breakfast/brunch menu. We all ordered the Coconut Cocoon which consists of 2 Waffles, 2 eggs, bacon, and potatoes. Me and another friend's potatoes never came out - they gave us $3 off. Our other friend's food was completely cold which had to be sent back entirely, and she asked for the meal to be removed from the bill, which they did. In addition to that, the food wasn't good - I literally went to another restaurant after leaving this place to get an actual meal! The best thing they had going was the server, Shy. She was very professional, pleasant, and doing her very best under the circumstances. I wouldn't recommend this place for brunch, may be I would give it another try during the week day. I understand it's a new establishment but they have a lot of logistics to iron out if they plan to continue serving brunch. read more
