I love this place! It was my first time here and I love the diner feel. Everyone was so friendly and nice. The waitress was helpful when ordering. I ordered the western omelet with spinach. I didn't want toast or biscuit, trying to eat healthy. So the waitress suggested tomatoes which worked out great. My husband liked the oatmeal. I love yokel local places like this and even though it is located in Pasadena instead of Baytown (where I live), we love to come have breakfast nice and early because they open at 5 AM. It's a seat yourself, no frill or reservation kind of place and you'll be greeted by some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet. If you're expecting filet mignon or lamb with fresh mint, this is not your kind of place. Don't come here for fancy breakfast food. This is a bacon, eggs and biscuits and gravy kinda place. The bacon is crispy, the eggs are cooked fresh and to order and the biscuits are soft, warm and topped with a deliciously thick tasty gravy. The hashbrowns are a little greasy for my liking but still pretty darn good. I hate when my food is defrosted, re-heated and thrown on a plate and they don't do that here. I'm very particular about how I like my eggs cooked- over medium, not too runny, not too hard and the chef does them just right. They have hot coffee, friendly waitstaff, hot and fresh breakfast food and a nice environment to do a crossword puzzle and watch the news. Love this place! read more

This is not the best place I've ever had breakfast. First there was kind of a funny smell that should've been a clue. However, being an adventurer I went ahead and ordered breakfast the coffee was burned and the breakfast was unappealing and bland and not well presented. When I asked for the check the waitress brought me an amount that was almost double my bill if I hadn't checked it the bill would've gone through on my card incorrectly. Went here this morning after walking out of a different place. So we were wary to experience similar terrible service again. We decided to try Pappa Yolk's since it's always busy when we pass by. We were not disappointed. We were greeted and sat quickly by a really friendly server. The atmosphere is definitely a local diner kinda place. Nothing fancy but very clean and bright. Lots to choose from on the menu which includes breakfast and lunch options. Our food was good and they are willing to cook it the way you ask. Portion sizes are big. We never had to ask for drink refills and our server checked on us frequently despite she was very busy. Food was like you would expect in a diner. I just want to start by saying our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. I took my girlfriend and her niece here for Sunday breakfast as the reviews seemed to suggest this place was decent. I still did not have high expectations due to the alternative restaurant options in the surrounding area. The poached eggs on my girlfriends plate were overcooked and whatever monstrosity they were resting on was a soggy mess. The hollandaise sauce looked questionable and was quickly drying out over the eggs (never seen that happen before ). Ok, when you think of steak and eggs, what comes to mind? You envision a juicy steak (or thick chunks of chopped beef) sitting next to freshly cooked eggs. What the waitress brought out was a immediate disappointment. Apparently a steak is a giant, flattened burger patty with a slice of tomato and single leaf of lettuce. Hold on! Now I assume most of you readers have ordered, or at least seen steak and eggs at some point in your life. This was a burger patty trying to disguise itself as a steak. I'm on to you, burger, you can't fool me. Hell, the garnish was a tomato slice and lettuce! How a restaurant owner, or more importantly a chef could approve this culinary Picasso boggles my mind. My biscuits and gravy ended up being a burnt, dry biscuit trying to hide its shame behind a massive heap of bland gravy. I wouldn't be surprised if the biscuit tried to drown itself in the gravy mess to avoid embarrassment. My first bite brought on the instant realization that Pillsbury definitely had the upper hand. What a shame. The final blow, the slap in the face, was the check that followed the culinary science experiment. As we walked out of this place and looked back in hindsight I thought to myself, "I knew it was you, burger, all along. Nice try." There was no social 6 ft distancing between tables and tables were not being sanitized! Tables were cleared, wiped off with same cloth used on other tables, and no sanitizer was used. Some customers walked in with a mask but taken off once seated. Mask shouldn't be removed unless EATING or DRINKING. It was a social hour, everyone talking w/o masks. This restaurant is not that big and sharing same air. We have had the breakfast special, a bit greasy and service could have been better. The waitress just took my plate away and as she walked away, is when she told me I was given the wrong order. When I finally did get the correct order, the taco was nice and hot and it did taste good. The hash browns were cold. It took me forever to finally get my order, so I just ate it. Then my daughter got her bacon cheeseburger and it had a spot of mold on the outside of the bottom of the bun. I finally asked for a manager. The owner came over and listened to my complaints. She did get take care of the issue. My daughter got a new burger. The manager did discount the meal due to the issues.
