The drink drinks were good - a little bit too sweet for me. It was called the swamp thing. Sitting at the bar, the service was good. The wait was 50-60 minutes. So we Ordered two appetizers (gator and calamari) at the bar while waiting. I specifically asked for the medium calamari but bartender put in the large. Thankfully the manager has it removed due to his mistake. When it came to getting sat, at 45 min I went to ask for an update and they had the nerve to tell me it was going to be another 45 min!! I was like heck no! I'm pregnant and there wasn't as many people when we first arrived. There were way more people waiting now. The hostess apologized said they had a large reservation but will make sure we get sat in 10-15 min. Good thing I checked. Then when we got sat (family of 6), we were sat right under the AC and it was freezing cold. Thankfully they turned it down some for us. I was also disappointed that most of their dishes do not come with veggies, you need to order it separately. And they don't allow you to sub broccoli for the green beans with the kids. Also extremely disappointed in their to go boxes being styrofoam! As much as you pay to eat here they can't offer better quality to go boxes. Styrofoam is banned in most other countries bc of the toxicity ‍ and I asked for some parchment paper and look what they gave me! Went to Pappadeux specifically for their amazing cobb salad, with lump crab and shrimp. I dream about this salad. It is the only salad I'll ever feel okay paying 30 bucks for. I fasted all day, because I was so looking forward to this salad. And then the "salad" was placed on the table. I use that word loosely because this was the saddest, most embarrassing silhouette of what it once was. Enter heartbreak. Disappointment. Frustration. Apparently the beauty that one was has been replaced by a wedge of crappy lettuce, a measly sprinkle of onion and tomato, dried out flavorless Bleu cheese crumbles, floppy limp bacon, and the equivalent of 3 shrimp and a crab claw or 2 chopped up. Oh! And the dressing. The nightmare of oddly reddish hued oil that they called dressing! Abomination. Abomination dressing. That's what it should be called. Anyway, completely disappointed and won't be going back. They've decapitated and buried the beauty of that amazing seafood cobb. One of my favorite places to eat. I absolutely looooove the crawfish Etouffee! Our waiter Santiago was kind and very patient. He was also very attentive and I appreciate the great service that he provided. Food was great per usual and the place was very clean. There was no wait..... however, if you dine here on a Friday or Saturday evening it can be pretty crowded with a long wait time. There were 6 in our group and everything we ordered was delicious (crab artichoke dip, crawfish Etouffee, seafood pasta, shrimp po boy, fish and chips). I have had Pappadeaux in Arizona so I when I found out there was one in San Antonio I had to stop by! The place is clean and spacious. Expect to wait at least 30 mins. I told my food to go the waitress nice. I got the Alexander which was dirty rice, salmon, shrimp, scallops, and crawfish in a cream sauce. The salmon was seasoned and cooked to perfection! The sauce was very flavorful. The dirty was old and not good at all shrimp had a heavy irony taste to them. I paid 65 dollars who that and Margarita to go! The portion was generous enough for two people. Parking was ample it's worth a try but nothing spectacular expect to pay on the high end! Bread was hard not as good as Arizona location! read more

Deeeeeeee-licious!!!!!! Perfect place to go for seafood during Lent... or of course anytime. Highly suggest reservations as this place gets packed...5:15pm on Friday was perfect. We sat at a booth with our friends and was immediately greeted by our server Brandon. The complimentary French bread was freshly baked and was soft on the inside, with a slight crisp on the outside. We ordered: Strawberry mangeaux tango- excellent! Mango vodka, frozen strawberry margarita and the strawberry purée blended so well together. Perfectly sweet and so easy to drink : D Large Calamari and Octopi appetizer- excellent! Seasoned generously and fried- yum. We appreciated the fried additional artichokes as well. The dipping sauce had a nice kick. Rainbow trout and shrimp- excellent! A large pan grilled fillet with 4 jumbo shrimp. The fish was cooked perfectly and easily flaked off the skin with a fork. The shrimp was meaty and not dry. I substituted broccolini for the truffle potatoes- omg best decision! Again seasoned nicely and not overcooked, it had a good crunch. Wild caught grouper- excellent! A good piece of fish that sat on top a seafood extravaganza of shrimp, scallop, clams, and mussels, all in a red tomato seafood broth and with a side of garlic bread. Heaven! A five star experience, start to finish. Celebrated my wife's brother's birthday here last Sunday and we enjoyed every bit. It was in the afternoon so the place was not as busy. We were seated quickly in a nice, pleasant, corner by the wine cabinet. Our server was timely and consistent! We tried several dishes. A cold and cloudy winter day in San Antonio took us to this place for great seafood gumbo and early dinner. The food here is always amazing. All the Pappas restaurants are excellent. This eatery is no different. We try to eat here twice a year - including the location on 410 by the airport. Service is always excellent by knowledgeable servers. The one we had today was a very experienced one. He took care of us and made sure our liquids are topped off. He knew the menu well. As for the ambiance, it's typical of the Pappas line of restaurants. Clean inside and outside. Pricing is expensive but the servings are huge! You get your moneys worth! Thank you for RUINING my hubs bday dinner !! Reservation at 6:30, checked in at 6:20 and host told me 20 minute wait while we saw empty tables. Opted to sit at the bar, she glared at us "go ahead, have fun". WTF ?? Sat and Nate (looks like he's 12) greeted us timely. After a few minutes (we were deciding), took our order. While placing our order, he walked away to talk to another couple. Came back, got our appetizer (Shrimp Cocktail looked like fish bait, Calamari & Octopus looked like it was from Costco with ZERO Octopus)i n, ordered my entree and walked away. Had to flag him down to get my hub order, the birthday boy. Never asked if we wanted salads because we did. Ordered Pellegrino, he put ice in it. Why ? Asked if we wanted bread and butter, sure. THREE other couples got it before us and they all arrived at least 10 minutes after us. We always order the Salmon Alexander and Seafood Tagliatelle. This visit, it was half of what we had always seen. For my hubs to finish and not feel like he's exploding, never happened. With our usual order, he never finishes. They offered a birthday (Creme Brulee) dessert, we asked for it to go. Didn't check it while there. Got home (15 minutes) it looked like melted butter. Again, WTF. Pappadeaux sent me an email about a shrimp etouffee special for $15.99 so I wanted to try it. I also wanted to redeem my free birthday dessert. The outside of the restaurant reminded me of a courtyard in New Orleans. The waiter brought us a loaf of fresh French bread and softened butter. The fried shrimp on the lunch menu consisted of ten plump shrimp over a huge pile of fries served with tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. The fried shrimp were cut down the middle to make them look larger. The shrimp etouffee served with white rice was spicy. I was impressed with the large shrimp. Unfortunately, I found a hair in my etouffee so the manager comped the entree and gave me a key lime pie to take home. The vanilla cheesecake was tall and impressive. It's better than the Cheesecake Factory! Service was good but I was surprised that the waiter didn't refill my water glass when it was empty. Pappadeaux : Party of 20 Last week, my girlfriend chose Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen for her retirement dinner from the U.S. Army. Our group of 20 gathered around 4:30 PM as the restaurant was located off I-10, and we wanted to avoid the rush hour traffic. As a note, please be cautious of the ongoing construction in the area, as the restaurant is in the center of the ongoing construction. Our waiter, Tirek (or Tarek), impressed me from the start, smoothly managing our large party with ease. Drinks and orders were swiftly taken as we celebrated and I ordered the shrimp platter, while others enjoyed seafood platters, pasta, and fish. A team served our meals efficiently, and the manager personally came out and thanked my girlfriend for her service, offering a complimentary dessert. If I could leave 0 stars I would. This was the worst experience, I've ever had. We had a 6:45 reservation, got seated quickly and was told the kitchen is running slightly behind. Prices were somewhat high initially looking at the menu but pretty on par with seafood restaurants overall. Was a bit shocked at the smaller size of the menu, and that a full bar didn't have pickle juice :(.. The quality of the food was top notch, we had the oysters on the half shell, a seafood pasta and the Gruper meal. The menu leads you on a bit to think you are getting much more than had come out. For example, the Gruper calls for Gruper, scallops, shrimp and clams. I got about 4 clams, 4 or 5 shrimp and 1 scallop which was a bit of a let down because the one i did have was DELICIOUS. Overall the meals were very satisfying, our server was great and the experience very good. We went back last Tuesday for lunch for the toasted hazelnut tilapia, however we didn't know the menu changed since our last visit. Anyway, we still stayed since we are really craving for some good seafood dishes as a break from the Thanksgiving tradition al and some non-traditional dishes. As usual we were welcomed by the beautiful garden area as we enter the building. The garden decor and the blooming flowers, considering it's getting colder are a fresh breather from the thanksgiving humdrums. The usual warm greetings and reception we get from the hostess and the very great customer service of our waitstaff Bailey were all on-point. We actually expect it from Papadeaux...the impeccable quality food, service and cleanliness that is singularly theirs. We had an issue with raw blackened catfish and called Bailey's attention for it who immediately apologized. Less than two minutes Jasmine the manager approached our table and sincerely apologized as well for the inconvenience and offered us options to either have the dish re-cooked or pick a different fish instead. We ended up opting for the red snapper instead. Jasmine also offered a cup of seafood gumbo while waiting on the new dish. It was just a superb comeback from a major raw dish mistake. Very prompt and professional handling by Bailey and Jasmine. The replacement dish and the soup are both complementary, an excellent gesture that we expect from Papadeaux. This was an unfortunate incident that was totally reversed immediately and became another unforgettable experience here at Papadeaux. We hope Bailey and Jasmine are recognized by the management and owners of the restaurant. They are both examples of great customer service. We would be coming back again in the future for special occasions and just when we need a special dinner treat. read more

Absolutely delicious! First time here and I was not disappointed. The place itself it's very neat and clean, they have outside and indoor seating. If I am not mistaken they also have a private party room but we sat at the bar. Xavi was very nice and greeted us right away, gave us the happy hour menu (M-F 3-6) I'm picky about my oysters but these were prepared beautifully! The fondeaux is the best in town with the warm garlic bread and wash it down with a nice drink. Alligator bites are tender and seasoned well and the dip is amazing. Salmon Alexander is huge portion with lots of shrimp and topping to enjoy. Lobster tails are sweet and meaty with a great flavor as well. We were really excited to try this place, but unfortunately, we didn't even get the chance to enjoy a meal. We sat at the bar because the wait time was around 30 minutes. Then we got a text saying our table had been ready five minutes ago. We immediately tried to confirm, but were told it had already been canceled due to the time that had passed. We walked up to the host stand to sort it out and were told the only option was a single booth, which we agreed to. Instead, we were sat across from the bar, right in front of a high-traffic area where staff were constantly coming and going. It felt more like a hallway than a dining spot. I asked if we could switch tables, but the host told us we'd have to get back on the waitlist and wait another 20 minutes. At that point, the experience had already gone downhill. Pappadeaux'nt preach, I'm in trouble deep Pappadeaux'nt preach, I've been losing sleep So I used the same intro as in my review for the other Pappadeaux in San Antonio, but who says I can't use it twice? Even if there was quite a contrast between the two? Keep on reading. During my trip to San Antonio, I had the pleasure of dining at both Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchens there. The other location is just off the 410 loop west of 281. This location is on the southeast corner of the 1604 loop and the 10 freeway. I enjoyed my dining experience at the other location so much I made it a point to try this one, expecting the same. However, I regret to say the sophomore slump came into play, though I don't know if that phrase would still apply if it was my second visit to a Pappadeaux, but my first visit to this one. It took me a while to find the front door. Just like the other location, I parked out in front, but I had to walk towards the side in order to find the front door. The "Deaux To Go" door was right in front, but to dine in, you have to go up some stairs or up the wheelchair accessible ramp first. You'll then be greeted by a nice fountain and outdoor courtyard that would make for a great place to hang out at if not for the Great South Texas Heat Wave of 2023. I found the front door and noticed the bar off to my right. I asked the host if the bar was open seating, and he confirmed it was. I also asked twice for a takeout menu; he misunderstood me the first time. Off day perhaps? He didn't wish me a good day when I walked out. I started to take a seat, and I almost slipped on the chair! I thought I was just being a clumsy fool, but when I sat down again, I saw the chair was wobbly. Lee (short for Leandro) was there to greet me. I told him about the faulty chair, and he asked a server to bring it to the private dining room. I really hope that chair wouldn't be sat on by a customer dining there, but I assume it wasn't. Anyways, I sat at the next chair over, and Lee started me off with a glass of water plus bread and butter. He answered the several questions I had about the menu with ease, but wasn't really able to sell me on any of the menu items I asked about. Then, I decided on the Atlantic Salmon Alexander, which also contains scallops and shrimp. Three S seafoods in one? Sounded like a winning combo! I also chose the house salad. Lee asked me which dressing I'd like, reciting a list of 5-6. The only one I hadn't heard of was creamy vinaigrette, so I wanted to try that. It took a long time for even the salad to come out even though I thought Lee said he'd get it for me shortly. I finished the bread, but I could have finished another one before he gave me my salad, which looked like it didn't have any dressing at all! Turns out it was all on the bottom. Why present the salad that way?? Why not just give it to me on the side so I could regulate the amount of dressing on my salad at any given time? The salad wasn't bad, but the bacon and croutons tasted quite burnt. The Atlantic Salmon Alexander was loads better, but wasn't as flavorful as the Grilled Tilapia and Lump Crab I had at the other location. I like salmon better than tilapia, but I liked their tilapia better than this salmon! That's not to say this salmon was bad. It was good, especially with the sauce surrounding the S seafoods, but it didn't taste as good as it looked. The Atlantic Salmon Alexander normally comes with dirty rice, but Lee said I could swap it out with another side. Since I hadn't had dirty rice before, I wanted to give it a try. It wasn't a bad side, but I'm in no rush to try it again. Just like the salmon, I thought it could have used more flavor. Well, I still had the salad bowl with plenty of creamy vinaigrette on the bottom, but Lee had confiscated it from me without even asking. I was hoping to use the leftover creamy vinaigrette to add extra flavor, but at least I still had leftover butter from the bread, which packed a ton of flavor! The leftover butter definitely helped out, but I'll never know how much better the dirty rice would have been with creamy vinaigrette. Lee wasn't a bad server, but he just didn't match up to AJ, who was courteous to refill my water at one point during my meal. She was such a charm, even being amused when I did a magic trick of making a Pappadeaux coaster float in midair simply by lifting my glass of water. I only briefly interacted with her a few times, but she appreciated my business way more than Lee did. In fact, it's very possible that if she were my server instead, I could have given 4 stars instead of just 3. Her bubbly personality really resonated with me and was the reason I couldn't leave disappointed. Other than AJ, my visit to this Pappadeaux location missed the mark by quite a wide margin that the Pappa in Pappadeaux, whoever he may be, may deem this unacceptably large. Perhaps Fish City Grill just a few hundred feet northeast could do one (or two) better. read more

We hadn't been to Pappadeaux in a while, and it was nice to return. Our server was great--attentive and friendly throughout the meal. I had the Cobb salad with salmon added, and it was good, though they forgot my dressing, so I had to ask for it. My fiancé had the pasta and really enjoyed it. The portions are large, but honestly, there was nothing that really stood out taste-wise. I was expecting a bit more, especially considering the prices, which didn't seem to fully match the quality of the food.
