Dropped in today on a whim and was so happy I did. I came in with my 2 y.o. daughter and was greeted by a super friendly younger gentleman at the counter. I placed my order and he offered to slice my daughter's pizza in tiny pieces. That might seem insignificant but I greatly appreciated the offer to make my experience easier and more enjoyable. We decided to make our order to stay and had a chance to hang out and take a breather. A man who I assume was the owner (the other gentleman's uncle, sorry I'm nosy ) offered my daughter an Italian ice and I was once again super grateful for our visit. You can feel the family energy in here, sweet young folks working at the front have a decent variety of pizza. The slices are on the heavier side when it comes to the dough so if that's your pizza style this may be your place. They're the only pizza spot I've seen with PEACE TEA from Coca Cola which really hit the spot with my slices. I have to say theyr garlic knots are one of the best ive ever had, it's so light and fluffy and they offer sauce on the side with it which many pizzerias fail to realize is a necessity! 10/10. read more

Been coming here for years. Joey and his crew are usually spot on. Food is always good. But the last few times, the staff at night at least (kids) are subpar to say the least. The other night, the 3 kids there were more focused on getting music going on Alexa than serving me and another guest. I ordered a slice and 3 garlic knots (only ones left) with side of sauce. The side of sauce was not in the box. Additionally, next to the pizza pies in the case, I saw a thing they placed in there as i walked in. It was a half eaten dinner with fork and knife, right near the pizza pie. Sort of gross. Just get the staff back in line, and you'll be right back to be good! read more

Found Pappalardo's Pizza Cove in Massapequa, a nook in the cranny in the Island Recreational Pools shopping center across the ;parking lot from Time Flies Ceramics. I went in and ordered a Pie 1.2 onion and 1.2 sausage to go. It had plenty of toppings and was a standard pizza for flavor. Thomas was one of the 2 young men servers behind the counter, who himself has been working there since the age of 16 and now 7 or so years later is still serving. I asked how long the Cove has been here. He noted 51 years come September with the same owners. The owner Mr. Joe a true Pappa and current Grandpappa. All accomplishments to be sure. The décor is homey with a menagerie of many original family and friend pictures along with town support of various groups including but not limited to local Police, Fire and Actors. The latter items of the charming Steve Guttenberg showing the plaque of the Hollywood Walk of Fame in December 2011 and a signed poster of the original Police Academy movie on the wall. I find the menu fairly comprehensive with a build your own pizza section, gluten friendly 10" spot along with Italian and pasta specialty sections .The cost for my pizza was 22 dollars.. read more

After over thirty years getting my pizza here, I'm now going elsewhere. The pizza, the meatballs are not the same. The delivery which for so many years never had a problem, is now an issue. The girl who answers the phone is rude...after waiting over an hour for delivery I called and said don't bother, she doesnt apologize but says "Okey-dokey, buh-bye". She needs to go. The pies the past six months are over or underdone, and the garlic knots terrible. The prices are now way too high for what you get. What happened? OOPS! YOU DID IT AGAIN! Glad to see nothing has changed since my last review. Thanks for the 2 liter soda 6 months behind the best by date. My dad got this yesterday, 4/27/22 & the soda is dated 10/18/21. I contemplated on my last review if you're using products beyond the best by date... after this happening AGAIN w/ soda, I'm confident you are. Done with this place! Update again, 4/28/22; my dad went back with the soda & they gave him money back. It should've ended there but instead, they told him his coupon was expired. It was MY coupon & it wasn't expired so I called pappalardos & this is how I was spoken to by Joe pappalardo (the owner): he told my coupon was 3 years expired - LOL WHAT - & asking when I received it. I told him the coupon was very much valid (SEE THE PICTURE, clearly valid till 4/30/22) & how this is the 2nd time of them having expired soda. He asked if he "should go beat up the guy who sent that email" bc he supposedly opted out of that email program & how (supposedly) no one else comes in with that coupon (sure Joe, sure). He also asked me, "why are you calling me during dinner", he stated he's almost 70 years old (congratulations?) & that he buys his soda from 2 different stop&shops (1 being the Hicksville rd location), essentially deflecting the blame to stop&shop. Take some responsibility & accountability! Joe left me a voicemail apologizing that my coupon was in fact valid, but still blaming stop&shop. Sorry not sorry, this man is A KOOK. Pappalardos will always be the pizza place that I loved and adored. It made my childhood I would have this pizza every time as a child. Plus it's next to my house a 5 min walk. Now that I have tried more pizza places and explored more spots as I got older. The pizza and food at pizza cove is quite not what it used to be. The pizza sauce is very bland no seasoning, and the sauce doesn't taste fresh. The cheese is that cheap cheese but idc about that as long as it's cheese. The pizza is very doughy, the crust is very thick as well. When me and my friends went to order from them the girl on the phone gave my friend an attitude because my friend didn't hear what she was saying. Also how are you a pizza establishment with no oil and vinegar?!?! Every Italian place has it why not this one? Plus their marinara sauce is dreadful when they give you it on the side, dreadful. The food is not good as well unfortunately. I would give there pizza a 5.9, this is the pizza If you're in a rush and you need to eat something fast and don't care what anything taste like this is the pizza for you. After the rudeness to my friend on the phone and the food not being good I can never come here again for pizza. This is maybe the most over rated pizzeria I have ever been to. Their Sicilian is absolutely awful. It's too hard on the bottom, too thick and is just plain disgusting. Their regular pie is barely ok. I've seen all of the signs about how Newsday says they are awesome blah blah. When you serve garlic knots and they are essentially little balls of cardboard with some garlic on them and you can't even buy through them? It's time to find another pizzeria. I wanted to like this place, I really did but the food is DISGUSTING. Slice of regular pizza I asked for well done was soggy, cheese tasted nasty. Ordered a calzone with Meatball and Sausage. No ricotta at all and slight spice to it. Ricotta is the NUMBER ONE ingredient in a calzone and the calzone should NEVER be spicy. Not to mention they charged $13 for the calzone which I have had twice the size of this calzone at less then half the price. I will not return and would give it 0 stars if I could. read more

This pizza place has been around for as long as I can remember, at least 25 years. The owner is the original owner and is very personable and community oriented. He has always been generous with donations to the Plainedge community. The pizza is very good, I especially like the meatball pizza. I haven't had any of the dinners in a long time but I'm sure they are good also. One thing I especially like about Pappalardo's is that they are open pretty late. I've come home from work at 11pm and they are usually still open to grab a slice. Delivery and take out make up the majority of their business as there are only a few tables to eat there. read more

Good pizza- very doughy and plenty of cheese. We went with the meatball to up the protein in our meal, and they were good.. And almost covered the entire pizza in a very generous portion. Eggplant Parmesan hero is also a favorite; thanks, Yelpers, for suggesting it. Not too mushy, and huge amounts of eggplant and cheese. Sadly, I didn't love the garlic knots, a little dry and lacking flavor. Thanks to all the other delicious options, I was plenty full. This place was part of my Friday night ritual growing up in Massapequa. My mom would take us to Pizza Cove, where we would buy a pie after going to the now defunct T and F video to rent a movie. Most likely a taped WWF wrestling video, featuring the mid to late 80s antics of Hulk Hogan. I can still hear the announcer saying in his (fake?) British accent that the movie was a presentation of "Coliseum Video." I am sorry for making you watch all of those wrestling videos, mom. But back to the subject at hand, the delicious pizza cooked up by Pappalardo's. This is my favorite New York slice. Not my favorite Long Island slice, or my favorite slice outside of the city. My favorite New York slice. Ever. Hands down. I wish I still lived near the place. Oh, and regarding all the Police Academy posters and other Steve Guttenberg paraphernalia (Guttenbergia?), the owner went to the local high school, Plainedge High with Guttenberg and remains good friends with him as I understand it. read more
