Came here for for dinner with friends that raved about the place. Can say that while the menu has astronomical prices, the fajitas were great! Bonus points because they also have a full gluten free menu for those with diet restrictions. My mom and I split the small beef and chicken fajitas which were supposed to be good enough for 1-2 people. The portion was huge, and oddly enough it was the same amount of food as our friends who split a large shrimp fajitas. The beef was my favorite by far. It was cooked perfectly and you can tell it's quality meat, which it better be for $35!! They also make their own flour tortillas in house so you know they are extra fresh. They even have a 25% military discount which is phenomenal and definitely helped with keeping the cost down. All in all our total for 4 people including one cocktail and the two fajita plates was $78 with the military discount. The server even took 25% per menu item versus over the total of the check. If you're former military or current armed forces, definitely take advantage! Most of the menu items range between $20-$50 which is unheard of for Mexican food, even compared to costly San Diego, but the beef fajitas were epic! read more

How can a Mexican restaurant be out of salsa @ 4.30pm ?? A recent visit with friends was a great reminder of why Pappasito's (Austin) is always a wonderful choice. Our server Luna was delightful, informative and just the right amount of 'attentive'. The meal was okay. The service was okay. The drinks were okay. The prices were outrageous for Mexican food. This is the purpose for a four star. My party and I had to sit at the bar if we wanted to order food or a drink. The seating area near the bar did not have a server assigned. This was communicated by the host prior to us taking a seat, but I found that to be odd around Happy Hour time. I get stuff happens. I ordered a wave frozen margarita with sangria prior to ordering dinner. It had a funny after taste to it. For dinner, I ordered the beef and chicken fajitas. It was a $35.00 and some change plate. There was a an extra charge to order cheese and sour cream with the order which you would think would come with the plate for the price you would pay. Pathetic! First the good news. The manager was great at getting us an outside table to his credit. And, we had a nice pleasant server. What's pathetic? What you order they don't have, and take 10 minutes to tell you. First I ordered the salmon. The waitress said they were out of salmon. Ok, I understand that, this is a Mexican restaurant, not seafood. So, I ordered the ceviche, with an accompanying "ranch water" alcohol drink...which is Topo Chico with tequila. Ten minutes pass and the waitress relates that they are out of ceviche and out of ranch water. They can't be out of tequila. And, Topo Chico is available everywhere and they can stock it up, there is a long shelf life. Why bother. Come on Pappasito's. Adjust your menus daily or don't open. My first time here was a Saturday around 4:00/4:15pm. We ordered the family plate. It came with stuffed shrimp, chicken, steak fajitas, half of slab of ribs, tortillas, beans, guacamole, pico, rice and grilled onions. When I tell you it was SOOOOO good! The ribs and steak were so tender. But my absolute favorite were the stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon. Here we are 3 days later and I can't get those things out of my mind!! The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the chicken it was a bit dry. But other than that everything was perfect. Oh and not only was the food delicious but the drinks were as well; and so was the customer service. Our waiter, AJ was super sweet, super kind and helpful. I usually stay away from Pappasito's 'cause i think they're too pricey but a friend that did us a huge favor loves this place. We decided to stop in and get her a gift card and since we were already here, why not get our grub on, right?! We shared a lunch beef and chicken fajita combo and a couple large and in charge ground beef enchiladas a la carte. The fitas were tasty, the beef was a tad chewy for my wife but not for me....score! We found out you can order enchiladas as a solo item and our next visit we'll just order a couple of these apiece since they're under 3 dollars each. The service was 5 stars. read more

This has become one of the poorest run Pappas family restaurants I have been to. So disappointing last 3 visits we are now at avoid . We go in March and spend $550 for dinner and get orders to go as well. Service was the worse I had ever experienced at a Pappas family restaurant. Then on top of it we get home and we have hairs in both to go orders ! BOTH! Being bald , I knew it was not me!! My wife tried calling and got no one to answer. I forgot about it. We also love of course going to the Wednesday night Fajita night special. We showed up on one visit at 7:55pm and were told there was a wait. We head to bar , grab 4 great seats , and start drinking with my clients. This location no longer allows you to eat in the bar area. 8:45 we get seated. Just as we are sitting, guy comes through and says last call. We just got seated. Then at 8:47 waiter, who was super nice, comes up and says last food orders. WTF is going on Pappasitos! We were literally rushed out of the restaurant before we even ordered. I was so embarrassed. Very next Wednesday, we showed up at 8:53, wait at door till 9:03 to be told restaurant is closed and will not take to go orders, which is all we wanted. Well we will not be asking for any to go orders for a very long time. We have spent 1000's at the Pappas restaurants over the years and if you are going to treat your good customers like this then we will head to places that appreciate us more like Whiskey Cake!!! My wife got the tacos Carbon... 24$!! a half order of nachos, two kids cheese quesadillas, a side guac, a queso, my wife's lunch... we had a 70$ bill for lunch! So I took my wife Shana here for her first time. She had been wanting to try it for awhile but fitting it in was tough. We went mid afternoon on a Saturday and it was crowded but we did not have to wait as it was just 2 of us. I got a top shelf frozen margarita and she got A Zombie margarita which she was warned would taste so good the strength of it would surprise her and it did. Both were very good, we also ordered Queso with beef. While the beef was great the queso was sub par. Looked and tasted like canned cheese but that was really the only strike. I got chicken fajitas and they were very good. The chicken was tender and grilled well. The tortillas were fresh and warm, a rare thing. Shana got Chicken Tinga Enchiladas which she loved and couldn't finish. We ate mid day and stayed full until bedtime which is great. The server was fast and friendly. Asking if we had been here before and we she learned it was Shana' s first time the management took off the queso as a nice gesture. I ordered the medium beef and chicken fajitas (serves 1-2 according to their website) and added a grilled quail since we wanted to feed 3 people instead. We were all satisfied after the meal and everything was delicious but with over a $50 meal I expected a bit more. To be fair I have never eaten quail before so I was really surprised by how small it is. Considering the fact that I can get a rotisserie chicken for $6, this palm sized bird that cost $11 was really shocking. If you come here for fajitas just go for the main meal, I don't recommend getting the extras. I have to admit the staff was on point considering it was graduation weekend at UT. The wait was an hour and a half but took a little less time. I hate to go to restaurants when it's close to closing time but they we'e able to accommodate our party of six and stated they would stay until everyone was fed and satisfied. We celebrated our friend's birthday last night. We were seated by the host and sat there for a long time. I noticed other people were seated long after us and already received their drinks, chips and salsa. Our waiter never came. I finally flagged down another waiter, who took our drink orders. Our actual waiter brought our drinks and apologized. He did a fine job after that, no complaints there. The complaint: Upon our arrival, we told the host it was our friend's birthday. During our meal, we went and told the host, again. We stated it was her birthday 3 different times. The place wasn't that busy for a Tuesday night. There were 2 other birthday celebrations in which staff came out and did their thing. Nobody ever showed up at our table to sing or celebrate. Major let down. I would give this place 3.5 stars if I could. First off, the fajitas were fantastic. We got the beef fajitas which are definitely enough for two people. They were 39.95 I believe. Very flavorful and cooked well. The meat was cut a little large which did make it tough to chew but that was my only complaint with the fajitas. The true disappointment was the chips and salsa. This place had the worst salsa I have ever had. It tasted like water. No salt. The food comes out in less than five minutes. Which is good I guess but then we did not see our server until we were waiting for our check for quite some time. Another annoying thing is that they carry no hot sauce which could have helped out the salsa potentially. So if you go, skip the chips, get the beef fajitas and split them and ask for your check early. read more
