When my husband and I got to the airport at 630 we were looking for some breakfast and a cocktail before our flight. With Pappasito's right by our gate we happily took a seat to give it a 2nd chance. We were informed that if you sit at the bar they will serve you, but if you sit anywhere else you have to order at the counter. We decided to sit at the bar to receive full service. The staff also let us know that only breakfast was served until 8am and no cocktails until 7am. The breakfast menu is very limited. The staff was very sarcastic and borderline rude at times. To eat, we had the bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast taco and the steak, egg, and cheese breakfast taco. These came out in under 5 minutes wrapped in foil and looking like burritos. The eggs were cooked correctly but not seasoned. The bacon was just placed on top in strips- not chopped up or mixed in. The steak was cooked properly, but again not seasoned. I have seen better meals from Burger King. While we ate the employees talked/complained about the company, the boss, and getting reviews on a regular basis. I said I'm here as I awaited for my flight to board that had been pushed back multiple times prior. One of the things that was disappointing was their menu was extremely limited. I'm aware that that is usually how it is with an airport location however don't tempt me by showing all the dishes on the POS or TV consistently running as I sat. The servers were doing their best with the crowd of people from canceled flights and delayed flights. My drink was extra tasty and just what I needed to get them through the horror I have been through the night prior and current uncertainty. I didn't order any food because what I wanted wasn't offered at that location. My blood orange mezcalita was everything. Perfect balance of smoky paired well with the literacy orange and lime juice. I'm fully aware that limited dining options at airports combined with travelers who are unlikely to be repeat customers will result in lower quality food. So, I definitely wasn't expecting a 5 star meal when I decided to have dinner at Pappasito's in terminal C. What I wasn't prepared for though, was just how downright awful the food would actually be. This location is a modified version of the full size restaurant in that everything is smaller, including the menu. Orders are placed and picked up at a counter like fast food. My husband and I got the chicken fajita nachos to share along with a couple of frozen margaritas. I can honestly say that they were the absolute worst nachos I have ever had in my entire life. The pile of extra stale chips smothered in tasteless slop was an insult to my taste buds. It was the sort of gross muck that would get Gordon Ramsay riled up enough to hurl the plate at the wall while screaming expletives. Had I not been so hungry, that mess would have been in the trash after the first bite. The only reason this place gets 2 stars is because the margaritas were surprisingly very tasty and strong. If they had put even half the effort into the food as they did the drinks then it could have been a decent meal. The fact that they still charge full service restaurant prices just shows how unashamed they are at serving such horrendous food. I loved the watermelon margarita - it tasted like a jolly rancher! He loved the regular margarita. These were pricy as are all airport drinks. Chips were so thin and salty which I love- kinda reminded me of chilis chips!!! Salsa was hot and fresh. We got the queso which we were expecting to be a little bigger but it ended up being enough for us. When it gets busy you will have to wait and sometimes the staff can get overwhelmed. If you are getting up to go to the bathroom leave a napkin over your drink otherwise they will take it! The people next to us had their drinks taken twice because they thought they left. When I have to eat airport food, I keep my expectations low. I was really blown away by the friendly, quick service and how good the food was. I got the fajita platter, and I was so full I didn't even need to eat dinner. Good size for the cost, flavor was really good. Highly recommend. I ordered the Tampico Burrito, a vegetarian burrito with grilled onions, peppers, black beans, and pico de gallo. The order came out quick, and the burrito was really good! My husband said it was better than the chicken fajita burrito that he ordered. There were no sides with it, but there was plenty of food. In fact, I couldn't finish the whole thing. I had a chance to stop by Pappasito's Cantino while transiting at DFW. I thought the place was of decent size, seemed lively and they had quite a large menu. I opted for 2 fried fish tacos plate (you can ask for a grilled version, too) and thought the portion was huge! I kindda wished I only ordered just plain tacos instead. The food though was tasty..and did not make me feel as junky as say fast food like at other places inside the airport. What stood out at Pappasito's though was the service. All the 3 staff at the bar were friendly, with both customers and among themselves, and they seemed to genuinely like each other. It made it seem like a less stressful environment (although it looked like the day I stopped by...it was crowded all the time!). We were going to get pizza at Maggianos but they only had the Margherita pizza in the sit down restaurant, not the "to go" counter. I omit egg for the breakfast burrito per my dietary preference and it's always filling.
