Tex-Mex done right! Family-owned with eight locations throughout the DFW area, Blue Goose Cantina delivers a great dining experience from start to finish. I took a customer to lunch today and was greeted by Allyson, a friendly and attentive hostess. Lee, the manager, seated us and stopped by to make sure everything met our expectations once our meal arrived. Our server, Jude, was exceptional. He made sure our order was accurate, kept an eye on our table, and provided outstanding service throughout our visit. The cantina-style décor created a fun, welcoming atmosphere that added to the experience. Our food arrived hot, fresh, and delicious. I highly recommend the enchiladas. On my next visit, I'll be ordering the fajitas--the table next to us had them, and they looked and smelled amazing. The chips and salsa were plentiful, fresh, and flavorful. By far the worst of all the DFW Blue Goose restaurants. This store hasn't had a remodel so it feels old and often has a whiff of sour bar rags. I have been 5 times, there is almost always a line. Not because the restaurant is slammed, though it is busy, just struggles at the hostess stand. Our most recent visit was actually the worst of the worst. Hostess was all attitudy, the group before us scuffled with the hostess and ended up leaving. Turns out they were a party of 4 that she said she couldn't sit at any of the 6 tops available. We were told the same to our party of 4. Thankfully it wasn't the 20 minute wait she promised. Our waiter must have had alot of tables as help was coming from all of the staff. He was polite, got the orders correct but it was rare to get a glimpse of him. The others were moving so fast, never checked on us so we had to head to the bar for water refills, twice. At least the food was consistent. Normally they offer chips and drink refills way before you need them but none were offered here. read more

I had not eaten at a Blue Goose in years and in my quest to try new places I decided to try this location for the first time. Walking in it looks the same as the one I visited some 20 years ago. Turquoise and Yellows along with Christmas lights for lighting. Concrete floors, wood tables. Almost like a college frat boy designed it for easy cleaning after the party. My service was good. My server, Ivan, was good at balancing the tables in his section. One thing I must note is the staff here is great. Super friendly, welcoming, and makes you glad to be here. Much like the decor has not changed, the food really has not either. It's the same old drab food I left them for 20 some years ago. Came on a Saturday around 5 pm. Wasn't too busy. We sat at the bar since it was just my husband and I. The waitress was nice. We ordered margaritas. One was the kiwi cucumber margarita I believe. I enjoyed it. Mmm I wouldn't say you could taste the kiwi a lot but it did have cucumbers in the drink. Subtle summer drink. My husband got the frozen margarita. I mean can't go wrong with that. We order the goose eggs. Pretty much is a twist on jalapeños poppers. But it had chicken. They were good but with jalapeños you have a hit or miss on them being spicy. The shrimp cocktail was good. But felt something was missing. We did have an issue. I mean I think it's something they didn't have control over tbh. But I had to go to the bathroom and unfortunately the bathrooms were closed due to plumbing issues. Idk if they got it fixed. I didn't bother to go back to check. You go here for the apps and drinks and sit on the patio and leave feeling a little worse than when you walked in, but it's still an alright time. Blue Goose isn't what it once was, and unfortunately this is the only mexican on the square, but if you like that greasy tex mex food that'll give you a slight hang over from just eating, then this spot is it. Delivered. I got the goose eggs, and the pick 2 with a crispy chicken taco, pork tamale, and tortilla soup. The goose eggs were delish. I heated them up in the air fryer because why not. I mean you know...delivery. I did have to eat the filling out of them only after eating one. Why, you ask? Because they were hot. The chicken taco and tamale were good, also. One thing about the tortilla soup. Lots of big onions, lots of big onions. With that being said, I tossed those aside and threw down on that soup. Everything was good. The handmade corn tortillas alone are worth the visit. The moment you walk in, the smell of fresh tortillas is absolutely phenomenal--it sets the tone for the entire experience. I have been here once before and wasn't impressed then, same feeling on my 2nd trip. Service was super slow for no reason, it was the day after Christmas, so maybe they were short staffed. I don't know but we were definitely sitting around forever just to get our order in. The food was bland with no flavor. We got the guac, tasted like avocado and salt. LoL Literally no flavor to it. The fajitas were good but again lacked the flavor aspect. My quesadilla was pretty decent, I got the one with chicken, spinach and mushrooms. Nothing memorable about the food or place. I ordered a to go at 6:09. The food is overpriced but I wanted some fajitas. The meal and some queso came to $39. For a pick up order they wanted a tip. I tip in person once I get my food to make sure it's correct and I get some service. I got an email saying my food would be ready at 6:41. I came in the door and was told that my food would come out and be put on a rack on the back wall. I ended up standing by a bar table from 6:39 until 6:50. I don't mind tipping but what am I tipping for? Food that takes 40 minutes to make? Me having to walk past the bar and stand by a wall and wait for my food? I wish there was a reason to tip. Served Chips and Salsa to get started our server was very sweet and did a fantastic job navigate the group. We had guacamole as and appetizer which was served in a taco shell with limes fresh with some zest very good. I had the Tacos Dorados and Diana had the Mesquite grilled shrimp for drinks I had the Old Fashion and Diana the Paloma. Food was served hot with Rice and Charro beans. Me and my family have been here twice the first time was great and a good enough experience to return for a second time but this time i don't think i will be wanting to return. Our server Susie, took a while to get over to us just for our drinks, which i completely understand they get busy, me being a server myself. She came up to us very passive and just a "i want to get this over with" attitude. She took our order, never prebussed and never refilled drinks once which is unacceptable in my opinion. She also never checked up to see how we were doing just a quick glance at our table and walking away as if she wasn't even our server. This was not a good experience due to the lack of attention. overall, it was a really good place to eat. the food was awesome, though I don't recommend the nachos.. they were really good but cant really be considered nachos because it was just four tortilla chips with meat and cheese on it. the staff was the best part about the whole restaurant and it's a fun experience with the staff. between their dancing waiter and waiters teasing each other it was a great environment to eat. My call sign in the Corps was Goose, so anyplace with a goose as a mascot, icon, or wording its he name I almost feel obligated to try out. I am glad I stopped in here. The chips were nice, not overly thick and not overly thin, well salted, warm, and the salsa was good. It had a good taste, could be a little hotter for my tongue, but I can't complain since I know they make this stuff for the masses. The Taco Plate for lunch was nice. I had one beef and one chicken, both were very good. Shells were crispy, the flavoring was decent, not overly done. The ground beef wasn't overly greasy, tho it didn't have a lot of seasoning either. It was still good tho. I sat at the bar today, the bartender was very nice and helpful. He stayed on top of my insatiable need for chips and salsa. It was really good and the staff was just as nice. This was my first time at Blue Goose Cantina and I'm a big big fan! We were seated so quickly despite the restaurant seeming pretty busy and the servers were all so friendly. Free chips and salsa can be a hit or miss but these were definitely a hit. The chips weren't too thick or salty. And the salsa was delicious. We ended up ordering the big bad botanas platter (under appetizers) for the two of us because we wanted to try a variety of things. And it was the perfect choice. It comes with two of everything (but 4 of the goose eggs) so we both got to try everything evenly. And we were easily full, and with leftovers to spare. I just wish they gave some more of the queso. But they did give us enough guac and salsa. Also the goose eggs were so good! Coming back, I would definitely just get an order of the goose eggs themselves. read more

We came to Dallas for a weekend getaway. The Blue Goose Cantina did not dissapoint. The atmosphere, the staff, and the food were all top notch. The food was well prepared and more than adequate portions. I was even impressed with the kids menu. The salsa is different than any i have ever had but delicious all the same. The drinks were not watered down and the award winning Diablo margarita is as advertised. Liz provided the best service we could have asked for, so much so we went back the next night just for drinks and asked for her specifically and she killed it again. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. When we venture back to Dallas we will 100% find our way here. read more

This is a sort of high energy Tex-Mex place that serves decent food but nothing special. They kind of focus on the drinks. A lot of the standard stuff, nothing unique really. I got the Tacos Dorados. They were three rolled and fried tacos that were a bit beyond crispy into hard territory. I didn't notice anything special about the meat or any of the sauces. Probably a safe bet if you're in a large work group like I was but nothing I would seek out for myself when I know there is better Mexican and Tex-Mex nearby. In response to the management response: In totality I consider the Blue Goose Cantina to be a 3 star restaurant. This evaluation is not based on having extra hard rolled and fried tacos. I am very forgiving of minor execution issues like a taco shell that is hard instead of crispy. If flavor, quality of ingredients, composition and presentation are good then my score will be higher regardless. I think the offerings at Blue Goose are fairly generic. I think that you probably use services like Sisco with mostly completed sauces and recipe kits that fit your theme where you put a spin on the mostly completed items that you buy and serve. This is a very common practice and is just fine. If done exceedingly well I can find my way to a 4 star rating. Your establishment executed at a very average level and therefore got a 3 star review. Joined our friends for a great meet-up at Blue Goose near Grapevine Mills shopping center. We arrived at 5:30 pm on a Thursday night and there was at least an hour wait for our table of six. We sat in the bar and enjoyed chips, salsa, skinny margaritas and beers. When we got to our table, our server arrived immediately as well as new fresh chips and salsa. This time I tried a mango mojito - excellent. My husband and I shared goose eggs with our table - everyone loved them with the guacamole topping and we shared the pick 3 with two sour cream chicken enchiladas and one chicken tamale. Everything was delicious! Our server did an excellent job of accurately getting our orders placed and after we all shared the mini sopapillas. Great food great service and fun atmosphere. I have frequented this restaurant first, a must for me great salsa! One of the best and consistently great. Huge queso dip with everything is unbeatable! Big enough to share but I always eat it all. Terrific margaritas! Meats are tasty no matter what you order. Plates are large with extras that you will really like. My old favorite was Angelinas in Lewisville but now the food is inconsistent and the salsa has become terrible. Blue Goose is consistently great. read more

We sat at the bar and the unsmiling and unfriendly bartender asked us if we wanted any appetizers. Neither my wife nor I are clairvoyant so we replied that we'd like to see a menu first. We ended up ordering a Chicken Toluca Salad ($15) and a BLT ($11). My salad was very good with plenty of diced Fajita chicken, spinach and greens, avocado, mushroom, cherry tomatoes, green olives, jack cheese, goat cheese, walnuts & bacon. It was served with a very good chipotle dressing. Our service deficiencies continued throughout the meal - no check-backs and no personality when the bill was delivered.
