Forget fast flying. I will now be looking for long layovers at DFW--and will gladly take the sky train to terminal D, even if I'm not connecting through there. TX/MX is my destination. It's home to some awesome servers, bright, an airy, colorful ambiance and a margarita that makes my top 10 list-and I've spent decades building and curating that list. I was there on a Tuesday morning in August-and found a comfy seat at the bar (where, yes, you can plug in and charge devices). I had just slammed down some Aunty Anne's pretzel bites, so wasn't hungry. But I was hoping for a great margarita-the kind you can only find west of the Mississippi. Ohhh, I found it-margarita mission accomplished. I ordered the first class margarita... and it lived up to its name. Lately I've only been able to find: bad mixes, too tangy or super weak 'ritas. This was none of that-it was superb... sublime, even. Totally worth the $22 (August 2026 price)-the kind of drink where you keep saying "man, this is good," with each sip. My excellent server, Crystal, didn't even laugh at me when I did it. I can't wait to go back and try the food. There's a cute little dining area adjacent to the bar-that seems to be close to everything in terminal D, including gates and other restaurants and retail. Time to book another trip through DFW! It's fine. If you can't get into a lounge and need to have some airport food, it's a decent option but set your expectations to an inferior Chilis. FIrst off, you know it's not going to be great TexMex. You should be able to come to that realization the moment your eyes gaze upon the name of the establishment and everything within the restaurant. However, you're tired, you're hungry, and you're resigned to airport food so, in you go. The real question should be do you need to have more of a fast casual restaurant experience with some booze the likes of Applebees or Ruby Tuesday? If not, you're much better off grabbing something from Chick-fil-A as it's a lot tastier and much cheaper. Otherwise, come on in, get some radioactive colored sugary cocktail and dine on some really mid enchiladas. Service was fine. read more

NOTE: My rating is higher due to this being an airport restaurant. One of the best airport restaurants I've been to. Airport food is generally terrible and overpriced (I've thrown away $25 entrees because they're just that bad). This rating is definitely weighted towards airport standards. It's refreshing to find decent food at reasonable prices ($14 for my burrito!). The TX/MX menu is fairly priced and the burrito is actually good. You could even split it with someone if you're not super hungry. They also have "outdoor" (read: not actually outdoors) seating which is nice! read more

Upon arriving, we were immediately greeted and seated by the hostess. Our server arrived promptly, provided menus, and took our drink orders. He was also attentive and asked how much time do we have before our flight (we thought that was very considerate). The food came out quickly and looked appetizing. Standard airport cuisine. Decent prices. My plate was less than $20 - I was surprised about this. I originally wanted to stop at a place around the corner but after reviewing both menus TX/MX had the most bang for your buck and actually looked good. The refried beans make the dish a bit mushy but overall the taste was good. I would eat here again if in this terminal. Service was friendly and efficient. Food came out quickly. read more

Really good food for an airport location. Usually airports are so-so, or extra expensive. In this case the prices were seemingly reasonable. There are tables with electric plugs so one can charge their devices. You can order bowls, enchiladas, and the like. read more

My husband had a layover in Dallas Fort Worth and grabbed some lunch at this restaurant in the airport. Courtney, his waitress, washolding it down. She was the only person on the floor and they had a line waiting to be seated. Despite being busy, Courtney had a positive attitude and gave off great vibes while she was taking care of my husband! The food was very good at this airport location. I was in a time crunch. and I ordered the Tx Mx bowl that was supposed to come with rice & beans, but it came without any of this. It was in a crunchy bowl, while I wanted a regular bowl. I couldn't reorder because of the time crunch for an upcoming flight. not a big deal, but the waitress was very aloof. I needed to charge my devices, but the waitress said I couldn't move to another table with charging plugs because it was in another server's area...even though there were MANY tables and I hadn't ordered yet. I had to find him for everything. the whole experience was a terrible start to a beautiful trip. the food was definitely not worth the cost. don't eat here if your a vegetarian or pescatarian. they use cheap food products. Being delayed in the air port for hours due to weather you try to make the best of it and see what food is available and around. Hoping to try something outside of the "fast food chains" known to me I gave TX/MX a try. I can't say too much about the ambiance since I ordered to go and did not sit within the seated area. However, I did see the bar packed and simple seating arranged for those dining in. Unfortunately as a Latina the flavor profile fell flat to me. I ordered a carne asada bowl. I was happy to see that it was packed with veggies - lettuce, tomato, onions, pepper. I was also happy the bowl seemed decently full since it was not on the cheaper end being $25 as a to go order. Unfortunately after sitting down near our gate I noticed a few things - I have some food intolerances and asked for no dairy, the container appeared to have sour cream and cheese on the side I'm not sure if a mistake was made and initially the order was being filled with cheese and it was attempted to be taken out but definitely as people have allergies or intolerances would advise if a mistake like this is made to replace the order and container for the patron would probably be best practice. I tried not to write things off there but the flavor profile was just really lacking for me, I felt like Taco Bell for a fraction of the cost in comparison would pack more flavor. My advice would be for this establishment to embrace its states seasoning and abilities, we know Texas has more to offer! I would also be wary of those who have allergies and intolerances because it can be a big deal and ruin someone's flight or rest of their day and should not be taken lightly. read more
