Everything IS bigger in Texas - particularly portions. I decided to get something "light" so I went with the tequila lime salad and ceviche. That's right, I said AND. Apparently when I'm in Texas, my appetite is bigger too! They provide light airy tortilla chips and decent salsa during your wait. I devoured a basket of those whilst sipping on my mango margarita - this too was delicious as it tasted rather innocent when it was indeed not. Our server was very friendly and given how huge our party was, she was very on top of things. When my food arrived, I was overwhelmed by how much I was going to have to force feed myself. The ceviche was pretty good, fresher than what is served in the Midwest that's for sure! I wish there was more lime kick to it, but it was pretty decent. I ordered the beef fajita nachos and they were great. One thing I didn't like was that they changed their dessert menu, the new desserts are not very impressive. Came here with coworkers for lunch when I was visiting Houston - we choose this place because this was near their office. I wasn't familiar with Pappasito's but I was very pleasantly surprised. We ordered off the lunch menu - I had the Pappasito's salad with shrimp, the salad was very filling and delicious. The vegetable tasted fresh. Immediately after we sat down we were given chips and salsa (which I'm pretty sure I ate most of, very good). The ambiance is really cool, there are water features outside at the entrance which contribute to that. The restaurant is pretty large and it was surprising that at lunch on a Monday the restaurant was almost packed. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars was because the service was a bit slow (usually lunch services tend to be on the quicker side because they know people need to go back to the office) but all in all, I really enjoyed it. This place was almost at 2.5 stars, but I decided to round up. There is a lot of hype about Pappasito's restaurants, and they are all good, but none seem to be stand out in their genre. As far as Mexican food goes, there are better options. That said, Pappas is always consistent and there is something to be said for that. I had the beef and chicken fajitas as they were half price to celebrate Pappa's 30th anniversary. At half off they were still about $10, which would be a decent price, but under no circumstances could I recommend them at the full price. read more

This place is a double edge sword. Its in a nice location with alot of parking and security that patrols the place. They have a cool water feature out front. The layout is mostly tables with a bar to the left as you walk in. Like most Pappas restaurants it has put alot in the layout department to make it feel like a themed place to eat. I had the shrimp brochettes which always are awesome. Very flavorful and not too hot. They have a tortilla press machine that's running making tortillas. Overall it's expensive but decent food. The one drawback I have is- for whatever reason, I'm assuming money, the insulation in the ceiling is almost not there. You can sometimes not hear your waiter in here it's so loud. And I believe it's do to the roof design and lack of insulation on roof area. read more

Tell me why we waited over half an hour on a 10 minute wait for a party of THREE while a party of thirty walked in with NO RESERVATION and they bent over backwards to get them seated in under ten minutes. Mandatory gratuity makes restaurants treat regular customers pretty shitty. This location sucks. I've never gotten crappy service at a pappas' location before. Apparently you have to bring twenty of your friends to get a table here in a reasonable period of time. On top of that, we got stuck outside or we would have had to wait LONGER. Nothing like dining a few feet from interstate ten in 100% humidity. Add in a server that's still a trainee and it's a perfect recipe for an exciting disaster. Edit1: apparently this pappasito's is the only pappasitos that doesn't serve green sauce with the chips. Edit2: it's been over an hour since we placed our order, and the party of 30 they pushed in front of us has already finished eating and is leaving and we haven't even gotten our food. We are just going to walk out, hungry, roughly an hour and forty wasted. After dozens of pleasant visits, we will never be attending this location again. My husband and I stopped to eat on our way to pick our son up from college. We were unable to enjoy our meal for the loud people sitting in the bar area. There were small children everywhere and we did not hear a peep out of them but the adults at the bar were so loud, one table got up and left before they even ordered. Also, our waiter was very rude. The hostesses at this location are exceptionally rude! They ruined what could have been a great experience. I tried this location several weeks ago because I was in the area. When we arrived, we asked to be seated outside to take advantage of the beautiful weather. The hostesses at the front, literally, rolled their eyes at me and huffed as if what I was asking for was nearly impossible. If the patio wasn't open or available, I would have completely understood, but that was not the case. The hostesses looked anguished when we walked in, they had attitudes when we asked to sit outside, mumbled amongst themselves as they grabbed menus to seat us and then kept bumping my seat as they walked in and out of the hosting area for the remainder of my visit. Because I recognize that people have bad days, I was willing to give the location another chance and went back on Friday (April 28th) early in the evening. Unfortunately, the same thing happened again - Hostesses With Attitude! For that price you would think the food would be decent but the rice was full of really hard grains and the beef fajita was far to raw!
