It was my first time visiting the Sugarland Pappasito's location last Saturday, and I was surprised to find that a space this large, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, could be completely booked at 6pm! This goes to tell you how popular the restaurant is amongst the locals. Despite being full when we arrived, we were still seated relatively quickly (within 10 minutes). We started with chips and queso/salsa and some drinks for the table then ordered some family platter fajita wraps and shrimp quesadillas. It was a large meal for a group of three, and we were all savoring every bite. The food was so good that I completely blanked on taking pictures of it before we devoured the plates. The environment was very lively on Saturday night, and performers walked the dining area serenading various guests. I also caught two tables nearby with birthday celebrations, which added to the festive vibes in the restaurant. One recommendation to make the experience even better would be more training for the waiters to recognize when is appropriate to check on needs at the table without being overbearing. Our waiter came by the table multiple times and interrupted our conversations while asking the same question: how is everything going? Aside from some minor improvement opportunity for the service, everything else was great and we will definitely be stopping by again in the near future. read more

First and foremost the Slow Smoked Ribs are Of the best things on the menu and potentially some of the best ribs I have ever had. More importantly, the service and attention provided by Corey always goes far above and beyond, providing a near familial style experience. The care and concern he provides to my elderly parents is truly commendable. Even more so when taking into account this service being provided on a very busy Mother's Day shift when we knew he had been working extremely hard that day. I was greeted promptly by the bartender upon my arrival and welcomed into the restaurant. I was provided menus and asked what I wanted. (Gotta LOVE good customer service!) The Mango Margarita was good, but when I squeezed the lime into the cup it took it to a whole new level. The Skewer was excellent the sausage I swear had jalapeño cheese inside and it did. The shrimp brochure was good however, the bacon too has used a little bit more time next to the fire.. I am quite happy with my meal and my service at this restaurant. The ceviche was fresh, light, and full of flavor with the perfect citrus balance. Super refreshing, especially if you want something not too heavy. The margarita was just as good. Smooth, well-made, and paired perfectly with the ceviche. Been to all of the Pappas chains and this was the last one to check off the list. Basically your normal Pappas restaurant, but Tex-Mex. I will say the all of the food will be sizzling hot and fresh! We the Redfish and the fajita trio plate. The shrimp that came with the Redfish was definitely overcooked, but they tasted good. The fajita trio plate was pretty good too, everything tender. Sabrina was attentive as it was a busy, noisy Saturday afternoon. She still made sure we were all good, especially for an automatic 20% gratuity. She'd better have. Today my family and I went to have dinner at this location. We have visited numerous times before and while we've had both good and bad experiences in the past, issues were usually corrected. Unfortunately, today was a very disappointing experience with both the service and the food. When we arrived, we were seated without menus and waited about 10 minutes before our waiter came to the table. After we ordered drinks, a large party of about 20 people arrived and our waiter was assigned to them. From that point on, his attention completely drifted away from our table. We asked multiple times for a cup of water and only received it after the fourth request. Our food arrived fairly quickly, but after it was brought out, the waiter never checked on us again or asked if we needed refills. My husband ordered the Parrillada and found a hair in his rice. We tried several times to get the waiter's attention, but he was too occupied with the large party. By the time he finally came over, my husband no longer wanted his food. The waiter did offer to replace it, but at that point we were already done eating and simply wanted to leave. On top of that, the food itself was disappointing. The chicken on my nachos was extremely salty and the tortilla chips were soggy. For a bill totaling around $240, the experience was definitely not worth the price. We understand large parties can be demanding, but other customers should not be neglected because of it. read more

My husband and I dined at Pappasito's Cantina (Southwest Fwy, Houston, TX) yesterday evening, and I felt compelled to share what an exceptional experience we had; especially regarding food allergy awareness. Before ordering, my husband informed our server about my food (meat) allergies. Without hesitation or a hint of inconvenience, the serverreassured us that she would immediately communicate this to both her manager and the kitchen. What stood out most was her genuine concern where she emphasized that my safety was just as important as my enjoyment of the meal. Shortly after, a manager personally came to our table to review my allergies in detail. She walked me through safe preparation options with impressive knowledge and care. She explained that they could saute the shrimp in a completely separate pan, away from any meat products, or if I preferred the grilled flavor, they could thoroughly clean the grill and use olive oil since their standard oil may contain meat-based components. I was honestly surprised by how calm, confident, and well-trained she was in handling food allergies. It made me feel completely at ease. I ended up ordering the grilled shrimp quesadilla, and it was absolutely delicious! More importantly, I felt safe eating my meal and that level of care is something you don't find everywhere. Exceptional service, outstanding communication, and a team that truly prioritizes their guests' well being. I truly appreciate the teams unremarkable effort. We will definitely be returning. They said they had run out of salsa with chips once and the second time the waiter to help us came after 15-20m once we asked several of the wait staff . Tonight my family and I were celebrating lots of occasions. My uncle, cousin's husband, my Dad and sister. We ultimately decided where to go for one place: Pappasito's Cantina. I previously have been to this location and everyone has been great. Initially we had to wait a bit to accommodate our big party. But while we waited, we all had a chance to look ahead and knew what to order when seated. For me, I went with a fajita platter of beef, cheese sausage, grilled onions, and diablo shrimp which came with rice, charro beans, and condiments: guacamole, pico de gallo, cheese, sour cream and pickled jalapeños. Of course tortillas as well and a butter sauce for the shrimp. I enjoyed the flavor and everything that came with it. The beef was cooked nicely, shrimp was delicate and not tough. Tortillas were hot and fresh. Definitely something to expect for a fajita platter. Everything complimented each other for a complete meal. Also had an opportunity to try the tres leches as well. Sweet and definitely liked the nice torched marshmallow on top with strawberries. Overall a nice visit for my family and I. Pappasito's Cantina is a restaurant to enjoy with big groups and special occasions when we get an opportunity. The quality is good and the price reflects that. We also have a positive experience with the location. But a big recognition and high praise for our server Sheldon. He took care of all of us and appreciated his diligence for our individual selections. He was awesome. Food was fresh, different, and delicious! It's our first time here and I am glad we stopped by. Close to the highway which was easy to find. The location is huge with lots of seating both indoor and outdoors. The service was very friendly and quick! Our waiter Vance was a sweet heart and gave us great recommendations. The rudest service ever! We had a service dog and our treatment was awful by management! The manager said the dog had to be off the furniture and could not drink water from the restaurants bowl. Purposefully our service was slow. One person in our party ordered fajitas and was given everything but tortillas which were delayed by 15 minutes after his meal was served. And when we asked repeatedly for the tortillas, a very rude server presented the tortillas with a major attitude. We were told her name was Mary Stella. A comment card online was completed with a response for me to attach the receipt, which I did. It now has been 10 days with no follow up. Absolutely unacceptable! My husband and I visited Pappasito's Cantina in Sugar Land to celebrate our anniversary. While we were dining inside, our vehicle was broken into in the parking lot and personal items were stolen. The Sugar Land Police Department informed us this was the second break-in in the same area within a short time frame. What was especially concerning was that on-site security later acknowledged seeing individuals lingering around our vehicle beforehand but did not alert management or guests. Management offered a gift card, which we declined. The larger concern is the lack of effective security response and communication despite suspicious activity and repeat incidents. Had it not been for one person's condescending attitude, this would have been a 5 star experience. My cousin hosted a family lunch at Pappasito's for her birthday. She made a reservation a few days out for 28 people. We were told that we wouldn't be seated until everyone showed up. My cousin was not informed of this policy until about 3 hours before our scheduled time by one of the manager's, Mindy. I did not personally speak to the her, but I did witness her attitude when she spoke to my cousin and my aunt. She was extremely short, rude, and condescending. Eventually they seated us when half the party arrived, but Mindy warned us that we would lose our second table if the entire party didn't show by the time we ordered food. I understand not wanting tables to be empty during lunch rush, but she could have done a better job of communicating in a professional and respectful way instead of talking down to us. Once we were seated, we were immediately greeted by back of house manager, Leti. She was the antithesis to Mindy. Leti was extremely sweet, patient, and very professional! Our servers were Jackie and Carlos and they were both great as well! They asked for us to not switch seats once we ordered so there would not be any mix ups. The two of them were working hard to take care of us. Service was slow sometimes, but it was understandable given our large party. I started with a watermelon margarita on the rocks. It was so good and refreshing! I really wish I would have ordered the large size! The chips and salsa were good and the staff was good about replenishing the chips when needed. For my entrée, I had the Chicken Suiza Enchiladas. These were flavorful and delicious and they were served very hot! The portion was generous and I had enough food for dinner later that evening. Despite Mindy's poor attitude, I can't penalize the rest of the staff for her behavior. Papasitos and the Papa's family of restaurants are pretty well known here in Houston. They have many locations. This location had two older gentlemen walking around with a guitar singing and setting a festive afternoon mood. It was busy but not packed. Family oriented dining. Drink- I just had their house Rita. You can order either frozen or on the rocks. I got on the rocks. Food- we decided to go with the family meal that serves 3 or 4. It's comes with your choice of a bowl of beans & rice. Our platter came with quail- which was delicious, chicken, steak, and shrimp. Along with warm torttillians. And pico/guac. Everyone enjoyed the food. Then we got dessert. I forgot what it's called but its vanilla ice cream with shredded coconut and chocolate syrup and couple of strawberries and whipcream. I have downgraded my rating though because the menu has become limited, maybe since the pandemic and I couldn't find some of the dishes that were once my go to meals. Everything is bigger in Texas, and this restaurant is huge! The original Pappasitos on Richmond was my favorite restaurant when I lived in Houston in the 1980s. It is amazing that Pappasitos is still going strong. And, it continues to exceed my expectations. I have always had great food and great service. The fajitas are my "goto", and always delicious.
