Continuing my hunt for great margaritas in the Katy/Richmond/Sugarland area, I selected this spot to sample the drinks & food. I liked this place. Nice small business spot. The server was also our bartender. She made a great margarita. In a glass without all that extra sour mix. The margarita didn't come to the top of the glass which some people would complain about but I knew it meant same amount of tequila just less sweet/sour mix which was perfect! The margaritas tasted good, had a good kick & not a lot of extra fluid. The garlic shrimp with veggies (squash/zucchini) was flavorful & the beans were good. (I often just skip the beans) It's a modest mom & pop restaurant & even though there are many Mexican restaurants in the area, this place is worth a try with friendly service and good margaritas & food. read more

I did not like this place at all. I felt as if nothing was seasoned at all for a Mexican food place. The prices were good and the service was also really good! My enchiladas, rice and beans tasted like formed water to me. The tacos al carbon were not fried but just basically wrapped in a tortilla (almost kind of like a chicken fajita without the veggies). Came in for a quick lunch today and left very satisfied! I ordered the large beef nachos and a two chicken taco plate -- both were delicious and really hit the spot. The ingredients tasted fresh, and everything was well-seasoned without being overly heavy. The service was great too -- the waiters and waitresses were quick, attentive, and super friendly. You can tell they care about giving a good experience. The whole place has that comfortable, neighborhood feel that makes you want to come back. Such a cute neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Very friendly and very attentive staff. They checked in with us constantly to make sure we had everything we needed, topping up our water glasses bringing, more chips and salsa and making sure our dinner was what we ordered. We tried the Carne Asada plate which was very tender and a generous portion. This isn't a criticism but wanted to mention that the carne asada seemed kind of sour, probably due to the marinade, which didn't bother us, but we did notice it. We also got the mixed meat fajitas for one which was plenty for two people to split. The tortillas are on the larger size which was fun. And lastly we ordered the beef fajita chimichanga which was absolutely delicious, but really small. I would say it was 6" in length which didn't quite feel worth it for $17. Plenty of parking. I was curious with all the good reviews and decided to give them a try. I was pleasantly surprised. Nothing fancy on the interior. Complimentary chips and dips included warm red sauce which I enjoyed (neither sauces were spicy to me). Tried out the chimichanga with gravy sauce and enchilada combo w green sauce. I enjoyed the enchilada and especially that green sauce on top (again, it wasn't spicy but more of a tomatillo flavoring. It was a bit on the pricy side though ($17.99). Service was pretty good at night. If I'm in the area, I'd try some of their other items next time! read more

My order was "to go". I showed up at 5pm on a Friday and there were a few tables taken. My order was accurate and delicious. I ordered the tamale and cheese enchilada plate that also came with rice and beans. Along with chips and salsa. The value price was impressive relative to the competition sitting around them. The waiter who took my order was well informed and pleasant. Even the manager came over to introduce herself and Thanked me for my business. So, the food met my expectations and the price was a good value and the service was pleasant and knowledgeable. The venue and the ambiance were clean and decorative. I will be coming back. read more

Now this restaurant replaced a family owned restaurant called Lupitas & I have been going there for YEARS. I was excited & hopeful to try the new place. && nervous... I won't lie. Mole chicken enchiladas was so good!! Chips n queso was amazing. I wasn't big on the can sodas but that's okay, it's a preference thing. Fajitas were amazing!!! Tortillas, bomb!! Only complaint was we once sat at booth & both tv had different shows on & the volume were kinda loud it was a sensory overload hearing two different shows going on. This is small place that is very clean and pleasant. The wait staff are the nicest people and we really appreciated their attentive service. The salsa, queso and food is amazing. My husband's hamburger was made with a homemade bun and angus beef that he said was cooked to perfection. The corn tortillas were so tasty that my husband ordered some to go for a snack later. When this place used to be Lupitas we would eat there quite often over the two decades that that family owned restaurant was there so you can imagine when they decided to retire the business we were heartbroken. So one day we were driving down Hwy 6 and noticed that they had reopened as a new place. El Kiche. So today we decided to stop by for lunch and I have to say I was pretty impressed! Not only with the food but the attentive service. We visited with our waitress Erma for a bit and she told us about the lunch specials Monday-Fri so we have to come back for that. But for today I ordered the Green Chicken enchiladas with shredded chicken and I must say it was delicious! My wife had the soft tacos and they were chocked full of chicken and very tasty per her comments. So yes, our favorite Tex Mex location has reopened and we were duly impressed! We will be back. We have never been refused to have tea refilled when having lunch. Most places when you leave will give you a to go cup, but they wanted to charge $3 for that. A la carte items, such as one crispy taco was $6. Food was mediocre. Not worth your time. read more

Only thing I wasn't a big fan of was the guacamole bc it reminded me of a store brought brand that comes in a pouch. First visit - we have been patrons of the former restaurant, Lupita's and were sad when they closed. El Kiche will now be in our rotation - service was excellent, food was delicious and the decor was simple, but neat and clean. The red salsa was warm and it was nice to have green salsa too for the fresh chips. Ordered the Poblano Chicken with charro beans and rice. I was delighted it came with freshly made corn tortillas, which were really good. Also ordered their combo platter with a beef fajita taco al carbon and a chicken fajita enchilada with gravy. Their charro beans are really good, but it was odd that they did not use pork like ham or bacon, they used hot dogs. Portions are good and service was friendly. There is a small bar, so you can have a beer or margarita and do take out if you want. A great neighborhood place. We will be back. read more

Really enjoyed everything we tried! The chips, salsa and queso started us out with good margaritas. Our group tried soft tacos, enchiladas and flautas. Each dish tasted homemade and from scratch. The fajita chicken in the tacos was not dry and totally flavorful. Enchiladas were tender and had a great gravy. The servers were super attentive and very nice.
