The chicken that came with the biryano looked bad.. the seasoning in it looked uncooked, and all of the seasoning was gathered in the chicken, so of course it wouldn't cook well. I got takeout and all of us enjoyed the garlic naan. The veg samosas were also a big hit. Then more fried food craze was fulfilled with the mixed veggie pakora. I got two because I was thinking of having a bowl of cereal pakora for breakfast too. You know the biggest hit was though? Late night hunger led me to this place. Wasn't really sure what I wanted to eat nor what I was craving, but somehow I decided to try this place out. I'm glad I did. First off, I had my share of good Indian food and my share of bad Indian food. I ended up ordering take out as the football game was on haha. Like most places, I order two three dishes to try and share which led me to order the chicken biryani and chicken korma (extra spicy). The special chicken biryani was good, but nothing to rave about. The special chicken biryani contained seasoned boneless chicken with an egg and garnishes. The boneless chicken was juicy and seasoned well. To be honest it fit quite well with the Basmati rice, but something wasn't just there for me. My favorite dish from this place and I guess I can say something I will continue to order, chicken korma. Now something pretty neat about this place, they did not hesitate to play with the spice level. A lot of Indian places I've gone to has the option to increase spice level, and sadly and disappointing...they don't. I requested extra spicy and man they delivered. Not only was the spice there; where after one bite my mouth was burning, but the flavor was incredible. One of the best Indian restaurants in town. I am a regular here. I love their Egg Biryani. One of the rare Indian item called Rumali Roti is available here and I love it. It goes best with Paneer Tikka Masala or Mutter Paneer which are out of this world. Definitely try their chikoo shake too. If you are into sweets, then I recommend either Gulab Jamun or Rasmalai. So far this is my favorite Indian restaurant in Houston! After being deprived of good Indian food in Atlanta for far too long, we finally have a place we can go to for a great meal that won't break the bank. Each time we both try something different, and each time we are happy we did. This is the perfect place for a date night or just a relaxed evening out. I recommend for newbies anything chicken. For intermediates...veal, and for the truly adventurous...goat! Oh man...and you gotta try the hot and spicy dishes. Even though the naan isn't included with the dish, they charge extra (two large pieces per order) but not a lot $2-$4 an order...the food, service, cleanliness, and ambiance score this restaurant a SOLID five stars. Beer and wine list are decent but the true winner is the chai tea. Add two sugars. The portions are huge! You'll probably have extra to take home. I'm not even sure if they offer dessert. I'm so full and satisfied from the meal that I can't even think about eating anything else. Prices...most dishes are $11-$14 per person. The chicken 65 was delicious!! As we were a large party of 20+ the waiter recommended we order from the corporate menu which were set meals. An offering of chicken goat or veg which wasn't a bad idea but the food took for ages to come out. Each plate was served with a adequate amount of naan, curry, biriyani, appetizer and dessert. The flavors were all really tasty but I was disappointed with one thing. Both the curry and the biriyani was served with on the bone meat which made it really hard to eat. Went there for a New Year lunch. BAD DECISION! I don't know if it was because it was a buffet, or too much pressure from the new year with many left overs from midnight celebration, it was bad.. Soup was salty, gobi 65 was not even close to anything gobi 65'ish, so was the rest of the food. The thing that disappointed me the most was that the veg and non-veg were in the same chafing dish so the few options I had as a vegetarian became fewer...especially as an Indian restaurant I would expect them to be sensitive in this matter. I have no idea about the ala cart menu and service, but today was bad and I don't think I want to go back. This is my 5th and last time ordering from this restaurant via Yelp. My main complaint is with the Grub Hub delivery drivers. I have worked for DoorDash, UberEats and Favor so I am familiar with how confusing apartment complexes can be. I requested the order be delivered at 8:20pm and the driver called at 8:19pm asking for directions. I ask the driver where exactly in the complex he was and all he said was "building 10". I instructed him to get out of his car and walk (maybe he could see the building numbers better). I told the driver to come to the back of my complex and he would find my building. Not rocket science. The driver said he would call me back but instead he clicked "deliver" and went about his merry way without actually delivering my food. I immediately contacted Grub Hub for a refund and to let them know this was the second time this exact same thing has happened. I am not happy with Grub Hub because the delivery drivers give up to easily. Not sure why these last 2 drivers have had a problem but it's not acceptable. Makes me not want to order via Yelp again. I also called the restaurant to notify them of the situation. The person who answered the phone asked a million and one questions before handing the phone to the manager. Once the manager got on the phone he asked the same million and one questions. Guess that's policy. I know they could hear the attitude and frustration in my voice so why ask all those questions? I made my suggestion 3 times. "Maybe you guys should think about using a different delivery company". The manager kept asking the same questions over and over again so I politely told him I understand there might be a language barrier issue so I would write a review. He understood that and said something about the owner but that was the same time I was disconnecting the call LOL. I'm not sure what Grub Hub will do about the delivery drivers or if the restaurant will stop using Grub Hub. Started with lamb chops which were a good start but they were a little too overcooked and so was a little tougher to chew on. Had the special chicken biryani that came topped with a hard boiled egg. I visited Houston for the holidays and been to BNG for a dine- in and was pleasantly surprised with the ambience (most of the Indian places in the US aren't very keen on this). They've got a great menu and all the dishes we tried were very tasty. I liked the variety of food you get here unlike many Indian restaurants with a standard menu. This was one of my favorite restaurants but it appears the quality of food and the service have both gone down since my last visit! The one thing I still love about this place, is their rumaali roti. Though i have had better ones in India, this is still the best in Houston. Not the same with their biryaani though. When they initially opened they were the best, not anymore. Compared to the paneer and gobi biryaani, the veg biryaani looked like colored rice with hardly any vegetables in there. We also tried the ajwaini paneer grill. I must say it tasted amazing. But the service was disappointing. The first time, they served us 8 pieces well plated and a broken piece and sauce in corner which looked like eaten by someone. When we enquired, they took it back and said they are making again. And served it again in couple of minutes, with just 6 pieces. By this time, we were too hungry to even ask anything and just ate what was served to us. I hope today was just an off day for them. I have mixed feeling about this place. Firstly it look like a night club with the intense lighting they have got going on in here. Idk about other ppl but I like to see my food along with tasting it. Couldn't tell the real color of the food because of the mood lighting everywhere, haha! Had to overflash my pics to show true colors. Now I ordered the goat combo lunch which I initially thought was going to be a thali. My mistake. Not thali. It was a few bowls of food put together. The goat a la carte was pretty bad. Its not how the authentic haleem tastes, I guess the chef needs to learn how to make haleem rather fooling the customers saying it's authentic haleem. I ordered a curry here previously & came back the next day to order 1 tandoori roti to eat with my leftover curry. Unfortunately, I had a poor experience. The tall & skinny cashier with glasses, who took my order, was incredibly rude and told me that he wouldn't serve me because my order total was too small ($1.49). Instead of welcoming me, the cashier stated that he would not ring me up and that I would have to order something more to make up for the small total. Little did the cashier know, not only was I a return customer, but I also came prepared with cash.. when he saw that I'd be paying with cash & not a debit card, he arrogantly changed his tune and took my order. After this experience, I will NOT be returning to this restaurant. I'm extremely disappointed in how this man treated me. I let him know that he was wrong and to not treat me in such an ill manner, but rather than acknowledge that and apologize, he tried to pass blame on the restaurant management (saying that they would be upset with him if he took my small order) Anyway, I will NOT be returning. Take orders telling them 30 minutes delivery time but he knows that is not possible for at least 90 minutes with the staff he got. Tried two times:- 1st: Egg biryani was served after dinner is finished. 2nd: Phone order. 30 minutes commitment. Took 90 minutes. Waited at restaurant for 1 hour with 10 more customers. Everyone had same story. I spoke to register guy, & he said that " owner pushing him back to tell the actual prep time, that may result in loosing business if actual time is told". Typical !! I ordered the veg samosas and the pepper mushroom fry. The samosas are on the appetizer menu and come with two pieces, each very large. It comes with a mint sauce. It had a nice flavor and a crispy dough. The Pepper Mushroom Fry was delicious. It wasn't as crispy as I would like but it had onions and jalapeno's with it. I felt the cost of the pepper mushroom fry dish was too much. It was $8.99 and that's all you got. The veg samosas were $4.99 which I think is fair. I would have ordered some roti too but my lunch bill was going to be over budget. They have combo meals priced at $1-3 dollars more with a choice of a vegetarian dish, chicken, or lamb. You get biryani, naan, curry, and a dessert. All that for just $1 more. Too bad I didn't want all that food. My star rating however is mostly impacted by the way they handled our large group. I came here for a work lunch. We had reservations for our large group so they reserved their VIP section for us. The restaurant has a nice ambiance but the VIP room was a bit humid. There are no doors it's open but somehow it was humid. When it was time to pay the bill they do separate checks however they use a handheld device and tell you your total. I didn't get to review my check first. The waitress reads back your order and tells you the total. We asked if tip was already included and she said it was not. So I added a tip in there. She asked if I needed a copy of my receipt, um yes I need to review. Always ask for a receipt if you go here. Turns out they charged 18% gratuity already. I even asked her twice if gratuity was included and she said no. I tipped her 36% tip. My lunch cost $20.62. No. After I had paid, my co-worker said she told him that the gratuity was a service fee that the manager takes and she doesn't get any of it. That may be true but that's not my fault the manager handles "gratuity" like that. Why is the manager doing that? Went here with my family to try some Indian food in a new city (we're from San Antonio, Texas). Simply: the food was delicious! We ordered the Chicken Lollipops as an appetizer and they were tender and tasty. The sauce is came with was very very spicy, so use with caution! I had the Egg Biryani which was very good, but was a lot spicier than anticipated. Granted, I had never had biryani before and although I ordered mild, I wasn't aware of the scale. Despite this, it was delicious. We ordered the Butter Shrimp which was good, but the sauce was delectable. We also had the Malawi Chicken Kebab (splendid!) and the Chicken Tikka, my personal favorite-it was a tad spicy but came with a perfect mint sauce that complimented it very well. My only complaint is that even though we were the only customers at the time, there many things on the menu that were not available (like 1/2 of the dessert menu).
