My daughter and I went here for a nice dinner experience. Needless to say it was the worst experience. Not only were we the only ones at the restaurant, the food service was not the best. There was a waitress and a cook who barely spoke English. The soda machine only had a few options since most of the drinks were out of order. I asked for ranch dressing for my fries and the waitress just looked at me as if i were asking for a big meal. She charged me .50 for ranch which I guess is ok. The whole experience was just awkward. Now I know why it's always empty. The taqueria next door gets way mire service which says something. My advice is don't waste your time and money at this place. read more

I have been going to Thumbs Up Burger since they opened. I have always enjoyed their burgers and especially their breakfast burritos. The restraunt must have sold because the customer service has certainly changed. The original owner was a nice man and treated everyone great. Now you go in and it seems the employees dont want to be there and on several occasions show up late to open. Google shows them opening at 7 am Monday thru Friday, and k have personally witnessed them rill in after 8am. The buns are big, soft and fresh (beware carb counters). This is a very casual place (in a shopping center) and I found prices to be relatively low. The Yelp stats indicate waiter service, but you order and pay at a counter. Our food was brought to our table, but I couldn't tell if that was because it was pretty quiet when we were there. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Really great burgers! I ordered the grass fed burger on a gluten free bun and it was the BOMB! Also their fries are really good. Very disappointed in the direction this place has taken and their poor customer service. I have gone here occasionally off and on for years....but just got on a "kick" the last 2-3 weeks and have been craving burgers - so have been in several times for to go orders....ordered the same thing and have paid the same price every time, but tonight I went in for my to go order and it was $3+ more then normal. When I spoke to guy ringing me up and asked how my same order went up he was rude, acted like I couldn't do math, and said it was because I ordered avocado this time. Cool little burger place tucked back in a little strip mall I like there daily special which is a 1/3lb burger fries and a drink for $6.99. Burger was well cooked and tasted good piled high with lettuce onion and tomato the fries were just ok not bad but nothing special. The teenage boy working the counter was very quick and friendly and the food came out very fast. I really like the fact that they have a kids menu but it would be nice if they had a substitute for fries with the kids meals. The grilled cheese was simple and well cooked and my son loved it. Everytime I've come in, it's been bare of people but the burgers have always been good and fresh. I've tried their veggie garden burger, turkey burger bacon burger and their mushroom burger which all have been good for the price I'm paying and they are usually quick. Their fries ate your typical run of the mill fries but good. I like their sweet potatoe fries best. I love this spot not only because it's so close to my house, but the food is consistently good. They have a really nice variety to their menu, even breakfast items! (Breakfast burrito is super yummy, FYI ) I love their burgers and sweet potato fries and the fact that they put REAL PICKLES on their burgers. My dear wife went for the Mushroom Burger $8.49, which only included fries, no drink. Her small iced tea was $1.69. So her total was $10.18. (So by not opting for the special, she essentially got mushrooms on her burger for $3.69, plus tax... not a good deal.) Total for the 3 meals was $23.16, plus $2.99 tax = $26.15. We were looking for a place to eat after we took our pup to the park. They have outside seating so this worked great. I had seen this place before and wanted to try but a family member said it was iffy a few years ago. I am glad we stopped in because it was a great new find! The prices are reasonable for SoCo and there were lots of options. The menu font was fine to read so they either got new menus or the previous commenter will never have spectacles strong enough. I ordered a blue cheese burger with a turkey patty because I feel that turkey is a good gauge of how well a place does with their food, especially for typical American fare. The burger was perfectly fine and not dried out at all. The blue cheese came through great. I really liked the ratio of condiments and the bun, except there was a thick pickle slice in the middle. It didn't detract from the burger though. Others ordered a mushroom and swiss burger with a salad and fish and chips with an extra piece. The burger was very good and big. The side salad was typical romaine mix, a few vegs and lots of croutons, but very large portion so that was good. The fish had a bit too much breading for that person but I thought they looked fine. Been stopping here for quick burgers since they opened. The owners are great and friendly, was excited to see they put a Gyro option on the menu. If I go for a burger the Marya's Deluxe Burger is my choice. Love the mushrooms and shredded lettuce. But if I wake-up early enough, I go for the Breakfast Burrito. You would think that small burger places would be able to run circles around giant national chains by simply doing simple meals with great quality ingredients which would speak for themselves, but not here. I ordered their cheeseburger , asking for rare, and sat down. After about 10 minutes they plopped down a basket with fries and the burger. The fries were ok, but common bulk variety, frozen, the burger was overcooked and dry. So much for asking for it rare, probably because the patties are frozen and you can't cook them rare anyway. The service was ok, but that's just it, the place was ok. I don't look for ok, I want something a little better. I don't mind paying a little more if the burger is stellar, for example a 4 dollar double double at In and Out is mile above this. A chain shouldn't be able to win over a independent any day, but sadly this one is disappointing.
