We went here for a graduation lunch and overall the food was really good. Our appetizers came out quickly, and the restaurant itself is very nice. That said the service felt a bit uneven. There were a few large party tables, and it seemed like the staff was more focused on them than on our party. We were seated outside at the farthest tables so I'm not sure if that played a role, but we had to ask multiple times for water refills and waited quite a while before being able to order. At one point we even had to get up and find someone after waiting about 20 minutes. The food timing was also a little off other tables that arrived after us were served first, and some of our plates came out a bit colder than expected. I do understand it was a busy graduation day with large groups, so things may have been more hectic than usual. One other concern was the outdoor seating. While the space itself is nice, the chairs didn't look properly cleaned, and some guests unfortunately didn't notice bird droppings until after sitting down, which ended up getting on clothing. I would consider going back because the food was good, but probably not during busy times or with a large group, and I'd hope the outdoor seating is better maintained next time. read more

It was a little chilly, so our server was able to bring over a heater and start the fire. Our service was good, and helpful. Always love eating at Spruzzo's! We sat on the rooftop patio with it's gorgeous view of Zuma. We ordered the skirt steak with vegetables and mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly, with a delicious chimichurri sauce. The vegetables were crisp and fresh, and the mashed potatoes were red potatoes that were on the thick side, very good! We also had the chopped salad (my favorite) that has such a wonderful flavor mixture of garbanzo beans, red onion, cucumbers, lettuce, and blue cheese crumbles. My son also ordered a side of fries. They were crunchy on the outside and hot and soft on the inside. Great meal! The man who brought us the delicious focaccia and drinks is so kind and helpful! We've had our waitress a few times before, and she's also kind and helpful. Only thing that was strange, was she disappeared half way through our meal and never returned. For 7pm on a Sunday it was very open! Overall we had a pleasant experience, I think the service was just a bit lackluster. Our server wasn't as attentive as we would've expected and when we were attended to, it was as if he were in a rush to get away. Despite that, the food is amazing. We LOVED the sauces that came with the Calamari, one was sort of a pesto base and the other was a sort of marinara base. I think they complimented the appetizer perfectly. My linguine clams were delicious, it's one of my favorite meals and I think they met my expectations great. We needed an event space for an awards ceremony luncheon, and this was the perfect spot! Not only did Ray, the owner, work with us to make it beautiful, but within our budget. We had over 60 guests on the ocean view patio, which was perfect! The food was superb, a beautiful buffet with Chicken piccata and fresh vegetables, two types of fresh pasta, two different salads and their tasty bread with balsamic and olive oil. Service was great - they kept the beverages flowing, the needs of the attendees met, and worked with us beforehand to make sure the details were ironed out in advance. This is one of our regular spots for family dining because the menu is varied enough that you can go multiple times a week and not be bored (I love the spicy rock shrimp, chicken salad, and steak - my family loves the salmon, pasta and pizza). My Bestie and I dined here on my last day in California and all I can say is if Peaceful and Tranquility was a person Malibu would be the spot for me to Love on daily. Marcus was our Server and he was on POINT. From his confident voice, and his sense of humor we enjoyed everything about him. He gave us the introduction of the Special of the Day...which I believe was a pan-seared Trout. My Bestie, and I chose pizza, I wanted something light before I flew back to Vegas. So I created a Spinach, Onions, Mushrooms, Shrimp (2 shrimp cut up is about $1 apiece) fyi, and I had Chicken added as well to my pizza. My Bestie ordered Pepperoni, Mushrooms, and Pineapples (she's Highly ALLERGIC to onions) so we couldn't share a pizza. The pizza's were about $16 and change also my additional toppings were included. Our wait time may've been 15-20 minutes before our food arrived. We ordered cocktails and mine was more minty than sweet which made it kinda tart but I still drank it. Our pizza's were great, the crust was crunchy but still eatable lol. My family was so impressed with Spruzzo. We found ourselves hungry after a morning at the beach and just drove along the coast until we found something. We checked it out and wanted to enjoy the gorgeous outdoor seating so we figured it would be worth the wait. Knowing we were hungry, the considerate waiter quickly brought out incredible fresh focaccia. We ordered and were pleasantly surprised with how quickly the food came out. Our table ordered a wide variety of dishes so I was able to try a nice assortment of the menu items. All were flavorful and well cooked and it was coordinated perfectly to bring it all out hot and simultaneously. We were staying at an air bnb nearby and this local restaurant was on the recommendation list and I'm so glad we tried it. We ordered the buffalo wings, calamari, combo pizza, and the fettuccine. Everything was fresh and delish and delivered nice and hot. The calamari was my fave - hot, crispy and the yummiest dipping sauces. I have been driving by this place for years on trips out to Ventura/Santa Barbara. Something about the location, perched up on the 2nd story always caught my attention and I was excited to finally try it yesterday for lunch. The views from the restaurant are spectacular but that's where my praise ends. I walk in, make direct eye contact with the bartender (no one else was nearby), and he ignores me and acts like I'm not there. No "How are you doing", no "the hostess will be there in a minute", just silence. I waited for a good 5 minutes before anyone showed up! My instinct told me that I should probably leave since they don't seem to want my business, but I foolishly decided to stay anyways. Once seated the server came by after a few minutes and took my order. My food and drink came out in a normal amount of time, so that's fine, but the server (early 20s, brown hair) disappeared after that. Never once checked in on me. The restaurant was pretty dead so I don't get what else he had to do. The hostess (lady with long brown hair) seems to be the only decent employee on the floor because she is the only one who asked if I needed a refill. The food was also lacking. Most of the pictures on Yelp look way better than what I got. There was a comical amount of sauce on my pasta that made everything mushy and unappetizing. It was more like soup! The pasta itself seemed to be of higher quality, so this is very disappointing. The chicken also tasted like it was just defrosted and was not fresh at all. The prevailing flavor was salt more than anything. So I'm super bummed about this. Was really looking forward to becoming a return customer as I travel right in front of it ALOT. They quoted me another 45 minutes to an hour and told me they just received the order at the same time that I happened to have called. I just wish they told me the truth that they missed the order. I called back and asked to speak to a manager and they told me the same thing, that they just got the order at the same time that I happen to have called. We used to order there once a week and if they had told me that they made a mistake, I would have just accepted it and recognized that it was a tough weekend. My first thought when the food came out was "the place belongs on Gordon Ramsay's restaurant rehab." All of the food looked limp and lifeless- not appetizing in the least. We ordered a bunch of apps and drinks and left pretty disappointed I don't see how this place is so highly rated. Maybe for the view? The ahi tartare came with so much avocado it looked like guac. Still the best ! We are never disappointed with SPRUZZO. After trying a few trendy newer restaurants in the area we are back to good ole SPRUZZO. Service is great, food is so good. it's clean and comfortable, has a very good vibe. The terrace is my favorite overlooking the waves, it's a large terrace where large families can sit comfortably with kids and dogs too. It's intimate as well. Never feels crowded. All pastas, Salads and pizzas are delicious and fresh. Fish and meat dishes are generous and delicious. Desserts: best carrot cake and spumoni. Can't wait to go again. read more

Usually have a great time here during happy hour but today sitting at the bar was less than memorable. We drive 45 minutes to get here just for happy hour by the ocean but today my husband and I didn't get much attention at the bar. Even if we aren't local to the restaurant we shouldn't be given the nose up at the bar. Like I said we usually visit the lovely restaurant 2 to 3 times a month but we might have to come less if this is the service we get. Generous toppings: sausage and pepperoni are the meats, smothered in olives with mushrooms, peppers, and onions too. I love all of it, but there's a nice, clean Margherita Pizza for more discerning eaters. Two types of mozzarella make a very thick base with no sauce to slide on, and it's simple but quite good. These are higher-end pizzas in Malibu so they're priced accordingly. Eat in or get take-out. Enjoyable either way. read more
