We've been coming to Spruzzos for years, mainly because of the view and the outdoor patio. Patio is especially nice when you can sit outside and enjoy the scenery. Unfortunately, the service has consistently been disappointing. It took about 30 minutes for our food to come out, and even though the menu has a note about a $10 minimum for table service, they barely attended to us. We weren't even offered water or really checked on throughout the meal. The food itself is actually pretty good and reasonably priced. Sausage is little balls, should be spicy crumbled. Caesar salad was wilted. Dressing is from a bottle, at least that's the way it tasted. Not good quality Parmesan cheese. Looks and tastes like Lucern brand the grocery sells. Chicken piccata-rubbery, sauce was watery. To me it was tasteless. Veggies were good and the mashed potatoes were ok. We've ordered the Marsala before and it was very good. The focaccia bread is pathetic. It's about 1/4" thick, and looks like last nights left overs. You can and should do better Spruzzo!! Went for the view of point dume! The rooftop was beautiful and we were happy to sit outside with the ocean breeze. It was a little chilly, so our server was able to bring over a heater and start the fire. Our service was good, and helpful. They boxed our leftovers up for us and made sure we had what we wanted throughout the meal. The food was fine. Not authentic Italian but filling after a long day. Plenty of pesto, plenty of chicken. 5 out of 5 There's an ok sunset view although it depends on the time of year, here in Nov when it sets more north it's obscured by trees. Always love eating at Spruzzo's! We sat on the rooftop patio with it's gorgeous view of Zuma. We ordered the skirt steak with vegetables and mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly, with a delicious chimichurri sauce. The vegetables were crisp and fresh, and the mashed potatoes were red potatoes that were on the thick side, very good! We also had the chopped salad (my favorite) that has such a wonderful flavor mixture of garbanzo beans, red onion, cucumbers, lettuce, and blue cheese crumbles. My son also ordered a side of fries. They were crunchy on the outside and hot and soft on the inside. Great meal! The man who brought us the delicious focaccia and drinks is so kind and helpful! We've had our waitress a few times before, and she's also kind and helpful. Only thing that was strange, was she disappeared half way through our meal and never returned. Usually, if a server is going on break or leaving, they let you know. Hope she's alright. read more

I so, so wanna love this place. Great, easy local location. Still in the category of "neighborhood joint" though I know it's also a popular tourist stop (every restaurant in Malibu potentially is that). But an Italian style restaurant with perhaps the most UNINSPIRED spaghetti and meatball entree you won't find anywhere outside a can of Chef Boyardee! My gosh, I guess I forget every couple years... and get a hankering for a good, comfort pasta exactly like a spaghetti and meatball... I come here and... blah. Some spaghetti with some kind of incredibly BLAND flavorless tomato sauce/paste with less flavor than the cheapest over the counter spaghetti sauce you'll ever taste. Sprinkle a few flecks of greenery on the bowl, 2 "kinda pleasant" but really boring beef meatballs? And voila... an uninspired spaghetti that maybe could challenge a 7th grade home economics class. Maybe. And all for the premium price tag of $24. Come ahhhhhn, Spruzzo. I SO wanna put you into heavy rotation, with perhaps what should be THE #1 go-to entree of anyplace remotely Italian. But this offering!? It's an insult to any palate. Spazzatura. Generally, it's a nice waitstaff here (although, last night-- a late, slow Monday night... played out very sluggish!) and the atmosphere is generally inviting too. But I, once again, left very unhappy, even letting my server know (and the server agreed!) ... with only the warm bread being the ONLY satisfying part of my meal. PLEASE Spruzzo, change the recipe. For 7pm on a Sunday it was very open! Overall we had a pleasant experience, I think the service was just a bit lackluster. Our server wasn't as attentive as we would've expected and when we were attended to, it was as if he were in a rush to get away. Despite that, the food is amazing. We LOVED the sauces that came with the Calamari, one was sort of a pesto base and the other was a sort of marinara base. I think they complimented the appetizer perfectly. My linguine clams were delicious, it's one of my favorite meals and I think they met my expectations great. We needed an event space for an awards ceremony luncheon, and this was the perfect spot! Not only did Ray, the owner, work with us to make it beautiful, but within our budget. We had over 60 guests on the ocean view patio, which was perfect! The food was superb, a beautiful buffet with Chicken piccata and fresh vegetables, two types of fresh pasta, two different salads and their tasty bread with balsamic and olive oil. Service was great - they kept the beverages flowing, the needs of the attendees met, and worked with us beforehand to make sure the details were ironed out in advance. This is one of our regular spots for family dining because the menu is varied enough that you can go multiple times a week and not be bored (I love the spicy rock shrimp, chicken salad, and steak - my family loves the salmon, pasta and pizza). We went here for a graduation lunch and overall the food was really good. Our appetizers came out quickly, and the restaurant itself is very nice. That said the service felt a bit uneven. There were a few large party tables, and it seemed like the staff was more focused on them than on our party. We were seated outside at the farthest tables so I'm not sure if that played a role, but we had to ask multiple times for water refills and waited quite a while before being able to order. At one point we even had to get up and find someone after waiting about 20 minutes. The food timing was also a little off other tables that arrived after us were served first, and some of our plates came out a bit colder than expected. I do understand it was a busy graduation day with large groups, so things may have been more hectic than usual. One other concern was the outdoor seating. While the space itself is nice, the chairs didn't look properly cleaned, and some guests unfortunately didn't notice bird droppings until after sitting down, which ended up getting on clothing. I would consider going back because the food was good, but probably not during busy times or with a large group, and I'd hope the outdoor seating is better maintained next time. read more

My family was so impressed with Spruzzo. We found ourselves hungry after a morning at the beach and just drove along the coast until we found something. We checked it out and wanted to enjoy the gorgeous outdoor seating so we figured it would be worth the wait. Knowing we were hungry, the considerate waiter quickly brought out incredible fresh focaccia. We ordered and were pleasantly surprised with how quickly the food came out. Our table ordered a wide variety of dishes so I was able to try a nice assortment of the menu items. All were flavorful and well cooked and it was coordinated perfectly to bring it all out hot and simultaneously. It was a touch pricey, but very worth it for the quality of the meals and the location in which you'll enjoy them! read more

We have been coming here for years. Tonite for the first time ever we were asked if we had a reservation. Then we were told there would be an hour wait to sit outside. It was just my daughter and myself. There was a 2 top available and no line at the door. For the first time ever we sat inside and then watched as a party of 4 walked in and without a reservation, after they made the same complaints as us, were sat outside. I will never again eat at this restaurant or recommend it. I spoke to owner who tried to lie about it and then said next time he would give me a free drink. I am sober but I guess because I have tattoos I am not only not as important as the "wealthy" party of 4 but I must drink and do drugs. My daughter and I walked out onto the balcony and said "goodbye." She saw the entire event play out. I explained to her than they didn't deserve our service anymore. She understood. It's sad this restaurant doesn't understand the value of "regulars" or "word of mouth." We started going here even more since Moonshadows burned down but I would rather not have another, "Pretty Woman" experience at this place. read more

We were staying at an air bnb nearby and this local restaurant was on the recommendation list and I'm so glad we tried it. We ordered the buffalo wings, calamari, combo pizza, and the fettuccine. Everything was fresh and delish and delivered nice and hot. The calamari was my fave - hot, crispy and the yummiest dipping sauces. On our scenic weekends down in Malibu, we ran into Spruzzo Res & Bar. Ordered takeout for two a Beet Salad with those small pieces of cheese and avocado that were deliciously portioned. And the Truffle Mushroom Pizza Saw a few espresso martinis being served. I think my partner and I will definitely be back for that and to enjoy the view. I have been driving by this place for years on trips out to Ventura/Santa Barbara. Something about the location, perched up on the 2nd story always caught my attention and I was excited to finally try it yesterday for lunch. The views from the restaurant are spectacular but that's where my praise ends. I walk in, make direct eye contact with the bartender (no one else was nearby), and he ignores me and acts like I'm not there. No "How are you doing", no "the hostess will be there in a minute", just silence. I waited for a good 5 minutes before anyone showed up! My instinct told me that I should probably leave since they don't seem to want my business, but I foolishly decided to stay anyways. Once seated the server came by after a few minutes and took my order. My food and drink came out in a normal amount of time, so that's fine, but the server (early 20s, brown hair) disappeared after that. Never once checked in on me. The restaurant was pretty dead so I don't get what else he had to do. The hostess (lady with long brown hair) seems to be the only decent employee on the floor because she is the only one who asked if I needed a refill. The food was also lacking. Most of the pictures on Yelp look way better than what I got. There was a comical amount of sauce on my pasta that made everything mushy and unappetizing. It was more like soup! The pasta itself seemed to be of higher quality, so this is very disappointing. The chicken also tasted like it was just defrosted and was not fresh at all. The prevailing flavor was salt more than anything. So I'm super bummed about this. Was really looking forward to becoming a return customer as I travel right in front of it ALOT. Was looking forward to telling all my friends, having family functions, etc... That's not happening now. read more

We got pizza to go and it was very expensive for what we got. The pizza was good but nothing extraordinary and the caesar salad was pretty soggy. The people taking our order were very nice and efficient but we then waited 30 minutes for our pizza despite them telling us to wait for 10. They do a good job separating the dining area from the take-out which makes it easy for both types of clients. The location is great tho because it's right next to to the beach and the terrasse seems pretty nice to watch the sunset (which might explain the price!) read more

Service is great, food is so good. it's clean and comfortable, has a very good vibe. The terrace is my favorite overlooking the waves, it's a large terrace where large families can sit comfortably with kids and dogs too. It's intimate as well. Never feels crowded. They quoted me another 45 minutes to an hour and told me they just received the order at the same time that I happened to have called. I just wish they told me the truth that they missed the order. I called back and asked to speak to a manager and they told me the same thing, that they just got the order at the same time that I happen to have called. We used to order there once a week and if they had told me that they made a mistake, I would have just accepted it and recognized that it was a tough weekend. Just don't understand why they didn't own it, instead of telling me I was wrong. Won't be ordering here again. read more
