We were seated right away and the waitress came to take our order only a few minutes later. The first plate or two came out only 5 or 6 minutes after we ordered and as if they were waiting, two more plates came out as we finished the first two. The last plate came not long after that. The food was fresh and the flavors were good. There's Thai food and then there's this. This was amazing and in addition to the wonderful food was the fantastic service. The music was good and wasn't too loud and they had Godzilla playing on a tiny tv hanging over the bar. We were seated by a wonderful young man named Raymond and were leaving he stopped us and asked where we were were from and then told us that he hoped we enjoyed the rest of our trip. Eh... We have heard about this place from Many Phoenix natives. With that we had higher expectations for it to be good. The building is a bit offsetting, bright pink and a bit run down but usually these are hidden gems. We ordered the house friend rice, lemon pepper wings and a pastrami and cheese sandwich. The wings were dry like they had been over cooked or re cooked, and look at that grease ( see photo) . One bite and I left them for my boyfriend lol The house fried rice wasn't bad but very much reminded me of mall or buffet Chinese rice. Not at all authentic but very processed tasting and again, greasy. My boyfriend had the pastrami sandwich and said it was, "just okay." Honestly I'm still trying to figure out what the hype is. Came for the wings, stayed for the wings. These wings were recommended by someone who knows wings in Phoenix and they didn't disappoint. Currently only open for take out with Covid so go ahead and call ahead for an order before you pick up some food wings! Quality wings here with plenty of sauce. Wings aren't jumbo by any means but they are golden crips on the outside and tender on the inside. Perfect. Ordered the hot wings and the Honey Hot. Both had plenty of flavor and the sauce pooled in the bottom to add more if needed to the wings. I am re-naming this place Long SO WRONG I got the chicken wings & chicken fried rice today for a late lunch. What a major mistake! Both items w/tax came to over $ 26.00!!! Don't mind paying if the food is good - I did mind that the food was tasteless. The chicken wings had no flavor & Korean spicy sauce they served was bought from Costco or Sams. The chicken fried rice taste like it was made by an amateur - not sure the "cook" tasted what he was cooking - holy Wong! Super angry and I had to throw it all away. Also the container it was in was half melted due to the high heat from rice after cooking. Needless to say the only way I would eat from here again is I am high on crack. The place offers pick up only through a little window, no seating. It's actually kinda strange, while we waiting as was bored and sorta checked the place out. I looked inside one of their back windows & they must have had 50+ gallons of shortening or fry oil so I assume the oil is fresh here!! The strips themselves had very little breading but my GF did like them. Not a spot I'd tell ppl that need to see but who knows I might come and try something else someday & come to a different conclusion. It's more a less fast food prices so feel free to try it. This I can say is quite true. I am not sure I was in my seat more than 5 minutes before they were calling me. The wings themselves were severely overcooked with little to no flavor. I prefer my wings to be sauce-less so I can dip them. This means your chicken wing has to have some seasoning and taste good plain. Unfortunately, these wings don't taste like they have any seasoning on them before they are cooked. If the wings themselves don't taste good stand alone (without sauce), it is difficult for me to enjoy the wings. However, the sauce on the flavorless wings was good. . When I first moved the Valley of the Sun, back in the mid-90's, my wife and I used to frequent a place called the Native New Yorker. Now, I know - the Native New Yorker is still around, but not like they used to be. You see, back in the day (wow - I'm sounding old) the Native New Yorker was known for one thing: Wings. That's because their wings were....wait for it....10 cents each. That's right - 10 cents. 15 cents if you wanted to upgrade to honey BBQ. So it was not uncommon to sit down and have tables around you with mountains of wings. We would settle in with friends and buy 100 wings (for $10!), then eat our way to a glorious food coma. Now, I realize those days are long gone. After all, it was 20 years ago and now wings cost more per pound that breasts. Knowing this, I still cringe when I go somewhere and have to shell out $9 for 6-8 wings. Call me cheap (You wouldn't be the first). So I was happy to find Long Wong's on Thomas. No they're not 10 cents, not even close, but they are pretty cheap and they deliver better than average flavor. Located on the SE corner of 7th Avenue and Thomas, next to an abandoned mini-mart, this run-down, garish pink shack serves up a variety of wings along with a number of other favorites. Now if you're looking for a reasonably clean, nicely furnished eatery with some ambience, then don't go here. As another reviewer noted, the restroom is locked with a padlock. With all due respect, I probably wouldn't want to eat here - this is strictly a take-out dive. But don't let that scare you. Come for the food - you'll be glad you did. On this last visit, I ordered a dozen BBQ wings. I had asked them to go light on the sauce, as they sometimes have a tendency to go a little overboard. They still went overboard. The wings were drenched in a sweet, tangy BBQ sauce. I wiped what I could off and enjoyed every single bite. I also ordered a side of vegetable fried rice. It was a healthy portion (healthy is probably not the right word) that is probably intended to serve a small family. I ate about half of it. It was delicious - almost as good as the fried rice that my mom makes. And that means a lot. They also have standard lunch menu items - burgers, fries, etc. but with all the wing choices, don't bother. All in all, I am happy that Long Wong's is around to provide a great value on better-than-average wings. They provide food like your mom might make (if your mom was an elderly Asian woman) at a fair price. And they do care about making you happy. This place is located on the opposite side of town where I live about 30 to 40 min drive. I haven't found anyone yet in the valley that make the wings line Long Wongs. Almost a year ago I went and the meat was left to be desired but it was still beyond delicious. Since then I've gone many a time and they have greatly improved their meats and the chicken is no longer bare bones.
