I asked the bouncer if there was anyplace we could go to grab a bite other then Denny's.... He gave me their menu. I was like NO someplace open. He assured me they were still open. My friends and I headed over here. We pulled up to a center and parked.. it was so dark.. my friends were like.. Deanna, there is NOTHING open here... This little pizza and sandwich joint in Carlsbad Village is legit. They have appetizers sandwiches and of course Pizza. They are in a sort of nondescript little shopping center at the end of Roosevelt that face both Roosevelt Street and State Street on either side. The sandwiches are good, I've never tried the pizza. Yesterday I had the caprese sub and though and trying to cut back carbs I took half the bread off the rest of the sandwich was delicious... the guy behind the counter was kind enough to give me the balsamic on the side so that my bread wouldn't get soggy on the way back to the office. The sandwiches are sort of small in around 8 to $9 but honestly at lunch time you don't need any more than that. They have a limited selection of beverages in their little refrigerator but I was able to find something to go with my sandwich. I don't see many people here during the day but they have a fairly large sitting area off to the side so I imagine maybe it gets busy here on the weekends. Holy Cow - a PERFECT PIZZA! The thin crust perfectly done, slightly crispy and had so much flavor - not something you normally think about with crust! As another reviewer noted, the pepperoni was the cool, smaller kind that lucros about around the edges like a little bowl - definitely the best type of pepperoni. Mushrooms were thin sliced and there were a LOT of them. And the cheese and tomato sauce rounded out this wonderful pizza experience. They took my payment over the phone which seemed a bit unusual, but that meant all I had to do is call when I arrived and they brought the hot pie out to my car. Great sandwiches. We tried some at the farmer's market, were blown away by the wide selection. I want to try the Cubano and I have tried the spicy buffalo chicken which was served with blue cheese and extra buffalo wing sauce, which were both awesome! I saw a wide rage of pizzas and a really big pizza size they offer which is equal to two large and two medium pizzas together. When we walked in the door, they said, "Welcome to Paradise." I smiled and said thanks, but internally I was thinking, "I sure hope this isn't what paradise looks like." There are maybe 6 or 8 tables crammed into the little space in front of their work area. The ceiling tiles were a little stained from the oven exhaust, and the TV had a black circle to the left center of it. And that's nothing to say of the price. We paid over $30 for two 12 inch thin crust pizzas. Now, if this were wonderful pizza, I'd overlook the rundown aesthetic and consider the price worth it, but sadly the pizza tasted like oven pizza. The crust was a good texture and there was a good amount of cheese, but the sauce was thin and and the overall flavor was particularly bland. However, the service was fantastic! I was doing a job near by and a friend recommended this place. So I wanted to give it a try, and I'm glad I did. He made the pizza right in front of me, we engaged in good conversation, and he wasn't stingy at all. I'm so happy I made this choice tonight. And it was delicious! My work is always ordering pizza from this place since it's right across the street. So for lunch today I decided to give their sandwiches a try... I am so glad I did!!! I got the Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich and boy was it delicious!!!!! It had crumbled bacon, big chunks of chicken and to top it off they toasted it do the cheese was melted and gooey. These are the "boneless wings" .. I paid $9 for 8 chicken nuggets. I ordered a small pizza and it was the size of a paper plate. It costs $12 for the pizza and $9 for wings. I paid a total of $23 with tax .. the staff was friendly when I showed up for pick up /so I left a tip for the great service but there is not value in the food. Lunch - room service well over $100 (Skyline). This is all for 5 people. In the Park I'm getting price gouged and paying for it because is there really an option? So it's our last night here I just want to sit in our room and I desperately do not want to blow another $100 on food the kids are going to push around their plates. So I ordered a pizza. Decided to give these guys a call and try something new. Got a medium 1/2 Canadian Bacon, 1/2 pepperoni with a side of jalapeño poppers. Came out to $25 which after seeing the size of the pizza was way out of line. The Good: The jalapeño poppers. The Bad: The pizza was terrible. Was small for a medium and had very little substance. They skimped on the cheese and toppings, the sauce was bland and overall extremely greasy. It was also incredibly salty to the point of being briny.
