Waited one hour, called and was told the driver was looking for the house. Has issues. Sure the flavors are good, but pizza here is pricey. And the few pizzas I've eaten here were heavy in a bad way, wet and soggy, making them difficult to eat with soggy thin crusts. Are they using enough fresh toppings? Plus their mini cinnamon rolls the one time I had them were so overcooked they crunched, had an odd gritty texture to them and just didn't taste right. No thanks. I like eating pizza out, and though it's nice they're open very late, it's just not made for dining in. Their dining room is so tiny and cramped it's laughable, plus their beer is overpriced and the wine list feels out of place at such a dive. I don't know why, but the late night guys are usually in a bad mood and act put out when customers show up. Unless you're their regulars, then you get priority service and treated like gold, which happened while we were last there. We were ignored and had to interrupt them to get any service. "Welcome to Paradise!" was the greeting we heard as my wife and I walked through the door with some friends for this evenings dinner. Truer words have never been spoken. We got word of Paradise Pizza from a friend that was raving about their gluten-free crust. Surprisingly, that dough carries over into many other items on the menu. Upon finding that out we decided to go full-monty. We started with the gluten-free/dairy-free bread sticks. There were crispy and lovely. The tomato dipping sauce may as well have been sweetened with the tears of Italian virgins. It appropriately topped off the bread sticks with a beyond fresh tomato taste. I can only imagine how the "real thing" tastes. Our expectations were not let down when it came time for the pizza. My wife and I ordered two small pizzas. One was gluten-free/dairy free, the other just gluten-free. Both turned out amazing. Each individual ingredient was extremely fresh and added a depth to the pizza that you typically aren't used to finding. The fun didn't stop there. Dessert allowed us to experience the full spectrum that Paradise Pizza can offer. -- Cinnamon Rolls! Don't think about it; just order them. In the past, knowing that even sniffing this kind of dessert would send me into a downward spiral that a dumptruck of medicine couldn't cure, I have avoided them like poison. Second week: BBQ chick pizza only and it was great Third week: Chicken Parm sandwich with extra maranera (that I paid extra for!). It has NO marinara sauce and was chopped up chicken cubes... Tasted lik process chicken with fake char marks. Not breaded. Not covered in sauce. Bread was hard. Nothing was fresh. Gross House salad. I ordered with no croutons, broccoli or bell peppers, sub mozzarella cheese. They charged me $2 extra AND didn't even put the cheese on it! Calzone. Had no ricotta cheese! I called after the very disappointing 3rd week and was not met with any customer service. They argued with me about the lack of sauce and only wanted to credit me $2 for the screwed up salad. first of all, the place is really hard to find even if you know CARLSBAD and STATE STREET. it's on the backside of the building so park in the lot on ROOSEVELT just off the corner of LAGUNA DRIVE. everybody's very friendly. appreciate the creativity in topping combinations even if i was there with two of my boys and pretty much limited to pepperoni. hey, i was young once and still like pepperoni. we got light sauce and extra cheese. PARADISE style is thin crust but chewy not crispy. pretty okay for conveyor belt ovens that never get hot enough to cook crust properly (my prejudice). the beef and blue pizza (added mushrooms) was pretty good but the onions would be better if they were carmalized. pizza was OK and they deliver. still, definitely a giant jump up from DOMINO's. read more

I tried their regular crust, it was nothing special. It was good, but it wasn't something I would rave about. I am raving about their gluten free crust because it is amazing. The seating area in this place can accommodate about 10 people total, so no, this is not a good place for groups. It's really just a take-out place that has a few tables. But if you don't mind squeezing in and waiting for a table, as I said, the staff there is Great and the gluten-free pizza is definitely worth the wait. And as a bonus, they have additional gluten-free items on their menu such as cheese sticks - amazing. One note of caution!!! The address is funky. So to start out, my review is for a gluten-free, vegan pizza. I know, I know, what is even the point, right? I get it! I happened to be in this area, and have had a bookmark here for quite some time. I was truly pumped to find a "house made gluten free crust", which almost guarantees that it's not the standard cardboard cut-out that is served at most cheap pizza places. On arrival, the place smelled divine and the service was very fast and friendly. 5 stars here. The menu had "The Vegan" pizza, the only one on the menu that fit my bill, altered to be gluten free - perfect. As they had no "cheez" or alternative, I braced myself for a damn delicious gluten free flatbread with roasted veggies atop. It took a very long time to make, and I grant full forgiveness for this, as under-cooked gluten free dough is inedible. So we waited, and I was starving, which is probably where that second star comes in because I ate it!! Out comes a piping hot pizza with an oddly white crust that was impossible to cut (even their pizza cutter hadn't made it through, so we were sawing away with plastic knives) and yet kind of soggy under the sauce. I wish I'd brought my phone to take a picture. So this oddly white, thick, rock hard bottom, soggy topped crust loaded full of roasted veggies and I are wrestling around trying to figure out the best maneuver to get it in my belly... It wasn't delicious. I ended up eating the veggies off the top and chucking the crust. My stomach wasn't sure how to deal with it, and I most certainly wouldn't order it again. But, the regular crust fully non-vegan pizzas *looked* great and this review has nothing to do with "normal food" or the establishment. My hunt for decent GF pizza continues.... read more

I saw this space being renovated a few weeks ago and decided to check it out on Saturday. This space used to be occupied by a Dominos. I am not very happy with the pizza options available in the village and Paradise pizza was a very good surprise. And they deliver! They have many great ingredients and some unique ones too (e.g. crumbled blue cheese, roasted red peppers, etc.). We ordered a large with garlic, sausage, pepperoni and roasted red peppers. The pizza was made with excellent ingredients and tasted wonderful. I would say that their pizza is most like New York style. Slices so big you almost need to fold them in half when eating. Not the best pizza. I ordered a medium-sized Gentle Italian (Basil, Garlic, Mozzarella, Ricotta, Roasted Tomato, Spinach, and Tomato Sauce) and it was mediocre at best. I would rather have store-bought pizza, especially when Paradise's medium pizza costs $20 after tax. We came in at around 10:30 pm and there was only one person working there. He was nice, but the service was very slow given that he was all alone running the place. The place is incredibly small and I can't imagine more than one table being occupied at the same time. We waited around 20 minutes. A girl who had ordered ahead walked in and still had to wait 10 minutes for her order. It's one of the only places that are open after 9 or 10 pm in the area (open until 3 am), and they do deliver, so that's nice. If you're hungry late at night, order from here. Hallelujah and holy cats! A Gluten Free crust that doesn't taste like cardboard or a sugary chewy disaster! It's thin and crunchy and rivals some of the best regular crust pizza I've ever had - including in NYC. Now that's saying something. That - and my picky kiddos are none the wiser. Shhhhhhh... The first time I tried it, the owner showed me that he bakes the pies on special pans that he used for just the GF products and he told us that he makes his GF dough on one part of the store and the regular dough in another. Hands are washed to the elbows every time to avoid contamination. He realizes that being GF isn't just a taste thing, that if you get contaminated it can really screw people with Celiac or other gluten intolerances up health-wise. I truly appreciate that! As I'm sitting here with my still hot and super fresh pizza I'm realizing this is one of the best pizzas I've had since moving to California for sure. ...Nice staff, quick service, good quality food... a definite keeper. There's no place like home for sure but Paradise Pizza definitely didn't let me down. We've been coming here for years. But, until tonight preferred the take away because the table seating at the pizza shop is spare and it's loud. However, I've been popping in to the Paradise cheese and wine shop "next door" for party accoutrements and love the calmness there. Mike is typically there and his friendly nature makes all the difference. Tonight my family if five had our pizza brought over to the "dining room". It was the most relaxing, lovely, calm and friendly dinner we've had in a long time. We could visit with Mike, the kids could lounge on sofas and read or play gently in the kiddy corner and we could relax. No stress at dinner makes me a happy mom! My kids said "yum!" Its soooo much better than the other pizza places in Carlsbad Village. I have to disagree with reviewer comments that its expensive. The only way that would be true is if you were comparing it Dominos or Little Caesars. In which case, I would have argue as to whether or not you are really eating pizza. I ordered a large Zen and it ran just under $25. That seems pretty standard for a large specialty pie. They were busy when I placed my online order right at 6:00 pm, so I did call to check on delivery time shortly before 7:00. They immediately knew who I was, what my order was, and apologized for running slow. That earned another star. The guy on the phone was really nice and professional. My pizza arrived piping hot at my door a short 10 minutes later. I will definitely give Paradise Pizza another call the next time I'm craving a slice, it was good! read more

Finally got by Paradise Pizza and loved it. Their pizza is 5 stars - the restaurant is 3 stars - the service 4.5 stars (nice, friendly and knowledgeable). We had the gluten free bbq shrimp which was nicely done. The gluten free dough was crispy with a bit of chewy-ness. I don't typically order gluten free, but figured what the heck... and enjoyed it. The shrimp was nicely sized (I was expecting bay shrimp) and the bbq sauce was not overpowering. The prices are higher than the typical corporate pizza store but IMO worth it for real food made by real folks. I will definitely go back. read more

This is my favorite pizza in Carlsbad. The crust is thin and the sauce is flavorful. I like the food much better than Pizza Port. Plus, the staff here are much more friendly and welcoming. It's a small business and the owner is also always there working. (He is a vegetarian and an excellent pizza chef!) The eating area leaves something to be desired. The restaurant is small with seating for about 20. The upside of the small space is that they make the pizza right there in front of you. The downside is that they only have bottled sodas and no beer, but they do lots of delivery so this makes sense. There are 2 old school video game systems and a pinball machine typical of a pizza joint. Overall, if you are looking for a great to-go, order-in or casual pizza brief pizza stop- this is the place. read more
